The Video Game Thread

I don't know much about video game production. Is it too late for them to start a tie-in game for next year? Shouldn't we have heard something by now?

The Amazing Spider-Man game was announced October 2011, and it came out in June 2012. So, if it was happening, we might not find out at til October. These movie games are made pretty quickly, thus resulting in bad games 95% of the time.

i am at a complete loss for words at a Superman video game.. i was hoping that Superman Returns would get it right, and it didn't... on that note, im kinda not putting anything to hope when it comes to a video game.

when it comes to the superman curse, it's not in the movie industry... it's in the video game industry.

I enjoyed the open world aspect of Superman Returns. I wish they would use kind of an MMO type engine to where you can use "portals" to go to different areas...I would like something along the lines of the Arkham games but featuring Cavill's likeness as Superman

I think Superman Returns had excellent groundwork.

Put in a better fighting engine, have a much better story, let Superman meet with characters and share some dialogue, and polish the graphics for some time and you've got a winner.

we sooooooo need a great Superman game, ala the Arkham games for Batman.

Isn't Rocksteady doing the Superman game? Or I'm I just crazy?

Rocksteady is currently working on "Arkham 3". Their next Batman game after that is rumored to take place in the Silver-Age and include more Superheroes.

Arkham game writer Paul Dini said he'd be interested in writing a Superman game.

It's been rumored that the newly opened Warner Bros. games studio in Montreal is working on a Superman game, but there's no confirmation.

A PS4 enteractive environment game where the player can play as Clark or Superman at any time and his powers available as either one at all time. The way to change from Clark to Superman maybe hold the triangle button and he will change to whomever but must do this in a alley or away from people. GTA style, it should have the ability of going from New York to deserts, Long Island, into the clouds, inside all buildings and other states with all his powers and able to upgrade them. He should also have his apartment where he has other costumes to chose from, he can rest and heal, save game and more and the daily planet as the contact source of crimes and elements in the story. Characters should be Superman, Supergirl, Superboy (old same suit), Braniac, Lex, Parasite, Jimmy, Zod, Toyman, Krypto and others in a all out war against the most powerful villains and last villain Darkseid Superman will face. It needs to start on Krypton having to do things as Jorel then young Clark in Smallville having to help people on side and gets one power at a time when earned. He meets Lois after where he becomes Superman after a certain point in the game. I also believe that every building, car, objects can be destroyed and 90% of buildings can be entered for things like purchases, mini games, contacts, main missions, etc. It has be based on the MAS movie but with new storyline.

Not sure why it would need to be PS4, but I like your idea.

Rocksteady confirmed they are NOT working on a Superman game.

WB Montreal is working on an unknown DC comics non-movie tie-in game

I would love an Arkham Asylum-level superman game. Knocking enemies through buildings and scanning the city in super vision. Using superspeed and such, sounds like fun.

The rumor is the next Arkham game will be a prequel featuring Superman.

Yeah, I heard it was supposed to feature the whole Justice League. Not sure how I feel about that.

I want a Superman game featuring Cavill as Superman...it doesn't have to be a movie tie-in, but just a game that features him as Superman

Really? Is Cavill that good that his awesomeness transfers into video games?

Let's just get Tim Daily like how they got Conroy for the Arkham games.

Superman's had so many though. Like George Newbern did a BOMB job on JL and in Superman vs the Elite. Regardless, just get Andrea Romano to do the voice casting, the STAS voice cast was a little weak at times, but I'm sure at this point in time it'd be a lot stronger.

I can second that, Clancy Brown back for Luthor, of course. Dana Delaney as Lois again? Bruce Timm writing, of course.

I just want to knock people through stuff. Is that so much to ask?

i want an environment that actually is affected by Superman, and the ability to have a fully customizable Superman...

i wonder if that's too much to ask...

What does 'a fully customizable superman' even mean? Lol

i want to be able to customize absolutely everything there is on Superman... from the cut of his hair to the soles of his boots.

One interesting dilemma with a Superman game is that upgrading his powers seems a little strange. Where as in the Arkham games, you can get new gadgets, it would seem weird that at certain points you can unlock heat vision, for instance. I guess you could still upgrade combos like the Arkham games but powers might be odd.

However, it would be interesting if they come of with a story in which Superman is lacking his powers (red solar energy or blue kryptonite).

It would be pretty easy to have varying levels of his powers if Luthorcorp were experimenting with weaponized synthetic forms of kryptonite.

Superkal, I guess that be cool, but I'd rather them work on the world and gameplay than waste precious dev time and resources on that. A few alternate costumes would be welcome though.

i want that in a game too, though... i want a game that actually stands up to the name Superman
