"Worst villain behind Malekith" meaning he would be second worst. Sorry, should have been more clear.
Either way, that's still not the case for me.

What about his conversation with Thanos? or how he dealt with Drax?Only villain that might have been more forgettable to me is Kaecilius, who at least had a nice scene where he talks about immortality to Strange. Nothing Ronan did stood out to me, he would stop a great movie dead in his tracks whenever he took focus of a scene.
What about his conversation with Thanos? or how he dealt with Drax?
or how he was distracted?
All those felt completely in line with what the movie was going for.
I legit do keep forgetting what Mads' character is called.

For Ronan throw in him killing The Other and first defying then threatening Thanos once he had the infinity stone as memorable moments.
If those count I don't see how only one of, say, the speech about immortality, killing the Ancient One, "Mr Doctor" talk and executing the librarian counts. Easily on the same level.
Have to disagree. Killing the Ancient was something I saw coming, so it didn't shock me like the death of The Other, who had previously been pushing Loki around and so seemed powerful himself. The most memorable thing about The Ancient Ones death was her speech to Strange as she was dying, which Kaecilius was absent for.
His speech about immortality was good, and Mads acted it brilliantly, but did he really think Dormammu would grant him it? It made him look a bit foolish to me in the end.
The "Mr Doctor" talk was nothing to me. Think we will have to agree to disagree on this one. Kaecilius was literally a stand in villain until Dormammu showed up. Ronan at least tried to take matters into his own hands and defied his puppet master.
By himself I didn't hate Ares, certainly not on the level of Doom, Luthor, Enchantress, Electro, etc. But I did really dislike how his introduction takes the movie in a new, uninteresting direction and has a lousy final fight. I can't get by the fact that the movie gets significantly worse immediately after his reveal.
No he wasn't.
I understand him being underwhelming, but he wasn't "moustache twirling."

I couldn't take him seriously in the armour with that moustache and spouting lines like Ivan pointed out there. David is a good actor but this was a nope. Even he couldn't save it.

Exactly that was the point. He even had a cane.
Doesn't make him that interesting in the long run, though.
"Join Me."

I'm talking about when he reveals himself as Ares, gathers his armor... and still looks like a slightly goofy, older, British gentleman. Not that it was the biggest problem with him, but it was quite funny to me and, apparently, some others in my audience.
I still can't understand the laughing scene in WW after they locked the door. it was really jarring.
The Ancient One was the most powerful person in the movie. The Other was nothing but a mouthpiece that acted on authority of someone in power. Loki never appeared afraid of The Other but about that of which he spoke. The GotG scene is all Thanos.
I don't know if it's particularly foolish to be tricked by one of the most powerful beings in the universe. I'm sure Dormammu can be convincing when he wants to, plus Kaecilius probably knew about the Ancient One's ties to the Dark Dimension.
Many people have referenced that thing so clearly it's memorable, which is what was talked about. There's no problem with disagreeing, and I enjoyed Ronan as well. Praising him over Kaecilius isn't as weird as doing the same with the failure known as Ares.
Yeah, that's some rock bottom cbm stuff. Like early 2000's bad.
