The Dark Knight The Virals Are Officially Over ...OK, Maybe Not So Officially

Damn... can't believe that this thread finally exists. Well, I've been in the game ever since the scavenger hunt at San Diego Comic Con last year. That was the highlight of the Con for me and it was made even greater when I discovered that the ARG picked back up in October.

Since then, I've been very lucky in this game. I got a Cake Phone (the only 'legitimate' one in Portland!), participated in every photo challenge, was able to nab a CFB free pizza/mask... and met some great people along the way.

What a grand circus indeed!

I feel the virals were an overwhelming success. Actually, I view them as more of a treat than something designed to accomplish a specific goal, because let's face it, we all were going to the movie anyway. 42E did a fantastic job in bringing Gotham City to life.

Websites, scavenger hunts, press conferences, e-mails, message boards, police stakeouts gone awry, sting operations, clowns, pumpkins ...and yes, hippos (:cmad:). All truly memorable. Barhyte, Sugarpants, Rossi, Garcetti, Notaro, Gina, BriDog. People attempting to make a connection out of anything, the scramble to capture the swag, the complaining, the unbearable lag, the five threads that simultaneously went up when a new text came in, the heavy influx of newbs. It's all been a hell of a run; far more than I expected when this thing kicked off.

It's incredibly ****ing cool to have something like a copy of the Gotham Times or Dent Campaign stuff or whatever else. I'd like to think (or moreover, hope) that all of us as fans, regardless of how much or how little swag we scored, at least enjoyed the ride. The wait until July 18 (or July 15 :o) was thoroughly more entertaining than would have been otherwise. Now there's just a matter of enjoying the hell out of 152 minutes of Gotham City cinematic goodness in a few days and I'm more amped than ever. :brucebat: :hoboj:

This thing was bloody masterful.

I got in on this kinda late but from what my friend who got me into this site had told me and shown me... I found it all interesting and awesome.

I just feel lucky enough to have participated in one of the many things that went on.

Some of you don't even know how lucky you are to be living the cities you do. =)

This is sad. What am I going to do at work now?

Man, the virals were sooooo awesome! I've been involved since November, and although the Midwest didn't get much love, I at least got something to show for it (Harvey Dent campaign stuff!)

yeah i'm sure we'll see some other stuff pop up around DVD time. and don't forget we'll (hopefully) have the Riddler to contend with next time and you just know 42 has got some awesome ideas for that

Well said, Mr. J. Well said.

Truly one of the best ways to anticipate a movie ever. The year was truly amazing. I am so glad I participated, got the swag, and get to see the movie early!

Haha, I was just saying that to my friend... About more stuff/offers/giveaways happening around the time of the dvd release.

...& you can bet your ass that if they do this again for the 3rd movie, I will be all up on it.

AMAZING Viral marketing experience. It will make the film THAT MUCH more interesting. Seriously. I enjoyed it.

I will miss it. But viral games will always be around. The success of this marketing campaign will only mean more like it in the future. Who knows, when the 3rd Batman film comes around, maybe that will kick off a new round of games.

As soon as I clicked on my tickets, I got hit with this bittersweet feeling.

It's been an amazing ride and i've made some great friends. The goodies along the way have been awesome as well, but the experience itself has got to be the greatest reward.

I think Mister J put it wonderfully.

You guys are great, thanks for the good times, especially you crazy Philly kids!

Ladies and gentlemen, it's been fun. These games have taken up such a large part of my life, and it's sad to see them go. I'll never forget how fun this past couple of months has been. I'll never forget campaigning on a corner for Harvey Dent. I'll never forget running around in the rain just to see a trailer that I already saw at Comic-Con. And I'll never forget the sheer awesomeness that 42 has put together.
So, thank you 42, for the most exciting months of my life. You guys are the most incredible people in the world and we are all very, very grateful.
Goodnight.

Did you guys get tickets?

Good time had by all. Big thanks to 42 and wb loved every minute of it. My favorite time was the halloween reveal. Never have I wasted so much time on my computer!

THANK YOU!!!!!!

Just been one of the most amazing things I've ever been involved in...and didn't even manage to get hardly anything! lol! For me, the whole experience has been phenomenal and funnily enough it even shaped the end of my degree!!

I just hope to now take my own ideas on and even get involved with similar companies....back to the game though:

Masterful, beautiful and addictive.

Is it over though..?

;)

i never thought this kind of mass sweet-ness was alive....although i haven't much to show for it all...*stupid small town*....it has been totally unique
