Andrew Lincoln was funny on Letterman last night.
Shane won't necessarily die in the tv series like in the comics seeing as they already had Carl not kill him in the woods.
He still might die but there's no real indication they will kill him off in the show. The tv show seems to be taking its own path as a good deal of events have already been changed/altered.

If I was a betting man. 10 bucks Dale will snap & kill Shane on the show & then Carl kills Dale. I can almost feel it & then Andrea kills Carl. Followed by Lori killing Andrea. With Daryl killing Lori & then Rick shooting Daryl to death. Glenn comes running & then Hershel kills Glenn & then Hershel kills Maggie & Rick kills Hershel. Zombie Shane kills Rick & then everyone else wakes up as Zombies. T-Dog who was no where around comes in gets killed by Zombie Daryl

While it doesn't 100% confirm...
The actor playing Shane is already attached to Frank Darabont's LA Noir pilot at TNT.
Because while he is terrible at expressing himself or getting a point across more often than not he's actually right.

As much of a big deal it was for Carl to be the one that killed Shane in the comics, I really don't get that vibe from the show, to me it really does feel that the show is setting up Dale as the one to finally take the shot, Shane's taunting of him has been ongoing for a while now, and Dale may just finally snap and save Rick actually taking the shot and finally putting that rifle of his to some use.
