From TVLine:
For Walking Dead fans, there was news to be had as well when AMC held court at Saturday’s Television Critics Association press tour: Season 3 of the acclaimed zombie drama, which was ordered back in October, will consist of 16 episodes (versus the current cycle’s 13). All together now: Mooooore braaaainssssss!
Let's just hope those episodes are, you know..... eventful. :o

I heard it will be more faster paced. Can't wait. \

I like slow burns...but I really don't enjoy slow burns that only climax at the last 6 minutes of the last episode.

Well we can hope the extra episodes will help tell the [BLACKOUT]prison/The Governor[/BLACKOUT] storyline. Likely have 8 episodes in the fall, 8 in the winter to support Hell on Wheels, Comic Book Men in the ratings.

They are already scouting locations for the [BLACKOUT]prison[/BLACKOUT]. Hopefully they actually have the testicular fortitude to pull the crazy sh** from the comics.

The Walking Dead: Scoop on What's Ahead!

Strained relationships, a rivalry that will test the survivors’ unity and the possible arrival of a major character from the books are among the stories on tap for the second half of The Walking Dead Season 2. Here are the key takeaways from the AMC drama’s Saturday afternoon session at the Television Critics Association winter press tour.

1 | AMC screened for reporters a key scene from the midseason premiere that showed Rick giving an inebriated Hershel a pep talk when suddenly they’re interrupted by
!

2 | Young Sophia’s death will strain Carol’s deepening bond with Daryl. “It really affects their relationship,” previews exec producer Glen Mazzara, “and forces Carol to really stand on her own.”

3 | Despite chatter that the walkers appear to be moving faster this season, producers insisted that no conscious decision was made to speed them up. ”Some actors playing zombies make that choice,” said Mazzara. “They’re not getting faster on our end.”

4 | EP Robert Kirkman would neither confirm nor deny that the pivotal comic book character of Michonne will turn up this season.

5 | The escalating Shane/Rick rivalry “puts everybody else in a difficult position on that farm,” said Mazzara.

6 | Mazzara said that, in keeping with the graphic-novel source material, there remain no plans to establish what caused the zombie outbreak: “This story is about our characters.”

7 | Regarding the widely-circulated alterna-plan for Season 2 pitched by EP Frank Darabont before he and the show parted ways — one that, in flashback to the dawn of the outbreak, followed a band of Army rangers through Atlanta and ultimately planted that dead, grenade-clutching solider in the Season 1 tank — Mazzara confirmed that “that story was discussed internally,” but added, “It was under Frank’s stewardship that we moved off of that storyline. Frank moved off of that storyline.”

The Walking Dead resumes its sophomore run on Sunday, Feb. 12. AMC will marathon Season 1′s half-dozen episodes on Saturday, Feb. 11 starting at 8 pm, then encore the first half of Season 2 on Sunday starting at 1:30 pm, leading into the new installment.

Well it's great to hear of the 16 episodes. It's obvious AMC wants to keep these great ratings so that explains why they extended the episodes.

Are they really scouting the
prison locations and is there the possibility of The Governer and Michonne showing up next season?

Logically the prison has to be the next place. Something will happen at the farm which will cause the group to leave, Shane will be killed and then they'll eventually find the prison. Fans want it, I'm sure the writers and Kirkman would like to see that used. You could definitely have The Governor stretch from the last half of season three to the early parts of season four. Having The Governor storyline done well would really make TWD stand out.

From what I heard on the Walking Dead fansite, it is true. Also I think
someone said Michonne shows up at the end of season 2.

As far as I'm concerned, the comic didn't really start getting awesome until they made it to [blackout]the prison[/blackout], so I have high hopes for this, if it's true.

Anyone see the clip from the second half of the season that was showed after hell on wheels last night?

Two characters walk into a bar that rick and Herschel are at and one of the two says "We found them!" The other guy was heavy set and he kind of looked like Otis!

I know it seems impossible, but what if Shane's guilt made him think he saw Otis getting eaten, but instead he somehow got away.

No.

If this series ends up having more Shane than Tyreese, I will not only be furious, but will also deem the entire series a dismal failure. :o

Are you saying you didn't see the clip or that it was Otis? The guy was the same size as Otis and looked bald. The guy beside him said "we found them." Who could it be? If you've read the comic could you put who it is in spoilers?

Not sure who it is, but pretty sure Otis is done, guy in the clip was fat but still a different build, a different....uhm...kind of fat.
I think they'll just be some nobodies, not from the comic, just made for the show to eventually get eaten.

From TV Guide:
What will happen to the survivors following the big barn massacre on The Walking Dead? — Harold
NATALIE: The barn massacre will be the least of the survivors' worries, especially since Hershel will be even more adamant about them leaving his farm. "While Hershel's suffering this loss of hope and trying to deal with these problems, it actually leads us into a new threat and causes the group to encounter something very dangerous that will be an exciting element in the new half of the season," executive producer Robert Kirkman teases. Get a glimpse at the new threat here, and see if you can guess which True Blood alum is hiding in the shadows
True Blood alum?

I'll believe it when I see it. The way the writer makes it sound is that it'll be one of the two guys.

But if it is true, I'll be even more pissed that Tyreese isn't around.

I've accepted the fact that the Tyreese of the group from the comics went to Daryl in the show. From the love interest to the fact that Daryl can handle the walkers on his own.

I don't think that's true. As far as I'm concerned, if any cast member has usurped his role, it's Shane. Not in the most strict sense, because their characters are not alike in the least, but the fact that he's the closest to Rick besides Lori. As long as he's around, theres really no way Tyreese can be.

They need to remedy that immediately.
