I think they would die out in certain areas faster than others. In the east when they get hit by a harsh freezing winter, they would. But if you go to the west cost, there would probably be more surviving walkers.

Not sure if the 28 days later rule applies to this series...Those zombies died or started getting weak due to starvation.

Those weren't zombies per say..they were people infected by the "rage" virus.

They were all so much alive, and still needed to eat, hwoever there insides would start eating themselves so I think the live time was like 3-6 months?

I mean, the reason we can't survive that long without food/water is because of the oxygen needed to the brain, well, guess whose brain was already defunct.

if anything the cold could act as a preservative for the flesh. You could have a situation like in World War Z where with the spring thaw in the North, you would see more zombies popping up. They're already dead to begin with remember so freezing up would only stop them for so long.

you waiting for them to run into some large naval vessels in the forests of Georgia?

No my point is that there could (and likely would) still be an organized military presence out there. Aircraft carriers have a great degree of autonomy (designed to be at sea for months). So they could largely escape any zombie outbreak, at least for a while.

They also have dozens of aircraft, giving them a lot of options.

Apparently they don't actually eat for sustenance though.

This show does explain why we don't see zombie cannibalism though.

still a great show even tho they ended the great story telling point they had with shane.

this show has to depart from the comic at some point...

Eh, I think the whole Shane saga had to end at some point. There is too much great material to take from the comic, plus, though I've only dabbled in some of the comic(plan on changing that when I'm able) from what I've read mostly about them making changes, they've been very smart and meticulous with most of it, to make it even more compelling television. Like anything on paper to live action, be it movie, or tv. It'll never be the exact same. Just too much going on in print.

I should be more clear on what i meant. I agree it had to end but it surprised me that it happened so soon. It was the one dynamic that kept me watching, yet still it made me happy the writers had the guts to end something so good instead of milking it way past its point of expiration. I looked at some of the comic and it seems that the paper has even more no hold barred. But I don't want them to end something before its ripe you know?

anyways, i look forward to the governor character that gets such recognition.

yeah, that WAS pretty slick of Carl to try that... I would have done the same if I were in his shoes... :woot:

I laughed during that part. That just came completely out of left field.

It is funny that Beth actually looks more like Comics Sophia than TV Sophia did...

More like a grown up Sophia, but yes, she's the splitting image.

I think it happened at exactly the right moment. The way they were having everything go; You couldn't have milked Shane 'the disgruntled former leader of the survivors who is in love with the new leader's wife cause he thought he was dead and can't get over it' any longer. I knew as soon as the pregnancy BS happened it was only going to end one way. Even from the first moment rick showed up in the beginning you could sense shane's resentment, albeit minimal at first. Stretching out Shane's incessant frustration and obsession with lori any longer would have quickly gotten tiresome, for me. Bernthal's slow descent into madness and wanting to kill rick was fun to watch though. By and large, That's just my opinion We'll just disagree and it's all good :)

I agree you don't want to end things before they hit their peak, but I don't think you can get any more ripe than shane resenting lori for her picking rick over him, insisting to him the baby's ricks(when clearly she doesn't even know), and taking rick out to kill him in the woods/field lol

I, too, am looking forward to the Governor, but I'm most excited about michonne. That samurai sword is the sickest weapon ever.

i have a huge gut feeling that [blackout] Lori will give birth to a baby who eventually turns into a zombie [/blackout]

^
[BLACKOUT]I hope she dies that way,it would be cool. Her baby is dead inside of her and rips her apart and makes her a zombie.[/BLACKOUT]

I hope she gets bit and Rick doesnt even hesitate to shoot her in the head

Many large sea fairing vessels have morgues on them I believe. A zombie break out is entirely possible especially if a ship was caught off guard or on a lightly manned night.

Just was watching resident evil. was that the first time zombies were virus born rather than something supernatural? I know the big zombie stories are the romero night of the living dead, resident evil, and now walking dead. is there any other huge stories of note in the genre.

Really glad Shane is gone. He was annoying as ****.

Amen to that. By the time I was half way through season 2 I was hoping he would be killed off quickly. His presence was toxic. I hated how Andrea was always siding with him.

Good question. I know Romero zombies were never really explained, although in " Night of the Living Dead ", it was briefly suggested that radiation from a space probe caused the dead to rise. In the " Return of the Living Dead ", it was the gas Trioxin that re-animated the dead. I've notice, ever since the debut of " Resident Evil", it seems that all Zombies now are a result of a virus,( which I don''t understand, how can a virus re-animate a corpse ? ). And by God, ever since Max Brooks stepped in to the picture with his " Zombie survival guide ", and " World War Z " books, and the Solanum virus, fanboys treat his zombie explanation as if it was Gospel.

Meh, I liked their crossed out D!sh advertisements.

Good for everyone here who has Dish though.

Zombie "explanations" have always been interesting because if you look at it, it has closely followed whatever the major cultural fear was at the time. In the 70's, radiation. Not surprising given the cold war. Lately it's been viruses, again, not surprising given that bio-weapons of mass destruction have been a large concern in the past decade.

I do find it odd that no one has really asked the question "how did this happen?"

I don't want an answer per se. But you think it would come up.

The closest we got was Hershel joking that God promised a resurrection of the dead.

At this point I think most of the thought is now just devoted to survival. I mean, it's been a while now since the original outbreak. I'm not sure how long but it seems like the better part of a year.

They kind of did with Jenner at the end of S1. We know its some kind of virus, so it's conceivable that it was a bio-weapon gone wrong that was accidentally released, or just a freak virus that formed in nature.

Either way I just hope they don't explain it thoroughly or find a cure, the best part about the comic is that you never find out.

No, I'm not saying I want it to turn into I Am Legend.

Just have them discuss what might be the cause or its nature.

On the other hand, them hoping for a cure, wouldn't be a bad plot thread.

I liked what they did with the CDC. That was a very good finale.
