*tastes Daryl's tears* ...Taste like squirrel, snake, and grief

I guess it's nice to take a break from interesting events... :o

JB Smooth is to much right now! Kinda awkward but funny at the same time.

Gotta get that ass, Daryl.

Oh Leon... :awesome:

This ep was pretty much what I was expecting b/c "Betharyl" was the least interesting pair separated, imo. So I wasn't expecting much. Should've balanced screen time with another group (Maggie, Sasha, Bob). That looks like the direction they're taking next week. Overall despite a few moments it felt like a filler ep. Just Beth wanting a drink and decompress with Daryl. I'm all for character development but I was never worried for either of 'em in this ep.

This might have worked as a b plot, but the pairing just can't hold an episode.

That's exactly how I felt. It's almost like they knew they would get less ratings due to the Oscars so they gave us a mostly uneventful episode.

They gave us a mostly uneventful episode...that focused TREMENDOUSLY on Daryl, the character that female viewers most want to watch. I'm not sure that he has ever taken center stage the way he did tonight (especially alongside Beth, whose role on the show for viewers has mostly been "hey, it's that blonde girl...when is she going to die?".

I think a segment of the viewers wanted a more developed Daryl (and more Daryl screen time, since hes' barely been shown in the second half of this season)...and they got it with this episode.

So, they made a real attempt to maintain viewers...but didn't advance the story at all, in case ratings did fall.

Very bizzare episode. Good acting, especially from Normal Reedus but i didn't get what they were trying to do. Was it a rite of passage for Beth ? for both of them ? what the hell ?

it was interesting, i guess.

Your summary is most on par with my thoughts. I'm not as in love with Daryl as most seem to be and Beth is by far my least favorite character so by the second half I pretty much accepted that they would take the entire episode.

To my surprise I came away knowing more about Daryl which makes the character more relatable and the BIG SHOCK is I know care if Beth lives or dies.

No advancement of the story, but lots of character depth, very character driven episode and I aint mad...

This episode felt like it was made to get people to skip the Oscars & if they do they find out Daryls back story

I think I'm done with this show.

Normally I'd shame someone for a statement like that, but after last night, I can't even muster the energy. They weren't even trying to do anything worthwhile.

This was a break episode. There was little going on. We learned a few things about Daryl but that's it. He and Beth both needed to decompress and it worked fine that way but it was also filled with a lot of pacing around. As was said, that part could easily have been split up with another group being shown and it would have been more interesting.

Although I do agree it may have been to do with the Academy Awards and not wanting to waste a good story on a night they figured would hit lower ratings from the competition.

So I wouldn't quit because of this episode but then I wouldn't quit most shows because of a single episode either. This season has been a marked improvement from the previous one and it's taken some time to get back on track from last season.

I'm surprised they didn't have them talk about the oscars. Like, how they miss them.

Call me crazy but I really enjoyed this episode. The two hander of Beth and Daryl really worked for me. Especially the scenes where they got drunk on the moonshine and opened up to each other.

When I found out Beth's mission I was honestly hoping that the last shot of the episode would be her finding booze, taking a sip, and immediately vomiting.

I'm really gonna need them to get (most of) the band back together soon. Next week looks like more of the same.

At least next week looks like they've got more characters in play than just Beth and Daryl. Whoever thought that an entire episode centered entirely on the two of them was a good idea should be fired. Probably exaggerating, but I mean it, goddammit! :argh:

The Walking Dead is no Breaking Bad and last night's episode was no Fly. Never forget either of these things, writers. :o

Just force them to drink some actual moonshine. The rest will naturally follow.
