So, will we see the renovated Wayne Mansion or will Bruce be in his penthouse in this movie?

I think a full-blown Batcave is inevitable, and makes sense as Bruce retreats even more deeply into a shadowy existence - he's going to be counting even more on his inner circle of resources, ie. Alfred and Lucious -

Now, that's what I am talking about I want a bad ass bat cave!

In Batman Begins they used Mentmore Towers for Wayne Manor. It was owned by the Rothschild family, so if they decide to use a different manor I wouldn't be surprised if they used another Rothschild property. Personally I like the looks of Waddesdon Manor, and it's also been used as a filming location before:

Well I know they won't be stupid enough to use the same Mansion as they did in Batman Begins. I hope their not as stupid, but knowing Christopher Nolan, they probably won't. Probably.

Well in Begins Bruce said they would rebuild the mansion exactly like it was, so I don't see why reusing the old location would be a bad thing.

I have to say, I have a soft spot for the penthouse set up as it's like the first Bat-books i grew up reading in the late 70s and early 80s, so I'm not sure what I'd prefer.
I'm also not sure what way Nolan will go, it will depend on the story of course, whatever suits him. If the penthouse suits the needs of the story, I think he will keep it and maybe move Bruce back into the mansion at the end of the movie, to tie up that loose end and show that Bats/Bruce is settled into the life for good with no temp set ups.
This thread needs a poll to see what folk would prefer, mansion would win no doubt, but I'd be curious as to how many liked the penthouse/undeground bunker set up.

Then again, as has been said, the attraction of doing a full on batcave actaully in a cave, with all the aesthetic goodness of bats and puddles, may swing Nolan in that direction.

QFT.

Bruce isn't gonna change his family home that goes back to the founding of Gotham, it's almost a historical site at this point. The basement is anther issue.

What would be so stupid about that? At the end of Batman Begins Bruce says he'll rebuild it "just the way it was, brick for brick". The only change here will be a new batcave, which I can't wait to see!

Exactly. I dont get why some people in this thread think that Bruce will build a different manor. He specifically said that he'd rebuilt it brick for brick.

isnt there already a mansion thread?

To be honest, if it weren't for the fact that I'll be watching BB and TDK before I see Batman 3 in theaters, they could change the mansion to something else entirely and I'd never notice. And even if I do notice, I certainly won't care. I can't imagine a less important detail. They could go the whole movie without even showing the mansion and I wouldn't think anything of it.

It's not that it would be stupid, it just would be weird that it will look excactly the same, there would have to be atleast some changes, not the whole mansion. The should maybe add to the floor plans so it would acomidate more "secrets." Don't get me wrong I loved the mansion in BB, it's just un realistic that it will be EXCATLY the same.

I think the real draw of the Manor comes with the potential for a full bat-cave (hell yeah). However, whether or not this cave is up and running has a lot to do with when Nolan decides to pick up the third installment. if it is just after TDK then we will probably not see a big batcave. But if Bats is "deep in the thick of things" (if you will) then we should see a super badass batcave.

I cant wait to see what the new Mansion and the new bat cave will look like

I understood the need for Bruce to live in the penthouse while Wayne Manor was being rebuilt and I understood the need for the underground bunker/batcave...but TDK had a really confusing way of telling the location of it.

When Alfred goes to take Bruce breakfast and finds he's not there he has to drive to the bunker. However when the Joker crashes Bruce's party, Bruce goes into that secret room and you have to assume it somehow led to the underground bunker/batcave because he reemerges minutes later in full-batman attire. Those two sequences always confused me unless there were 2 suits and one was kept at the penthouse.

Back on topic...I don't expect to see the penthouse at all, I feel Wayne Manor was almost done in TDK and enough time will pass that Bruce is back in Wayne Manor. If this is going to be Nolan's last film he has to have the batcave completed, and as others have pointed out have Wayne Manor rebuilt "brick for brick".

I'm pretty sure Bruce just kept the bat-suit in a secret room in his penthouse that night because he knew he'd be there and Joker made his threat and such. He didn't have two suits or a teleportation device to get him to the bunker. :hehe:

I am sure with the mansion rebuilt and the cave upgraded, the Palisades will see more of Mr. Wayne and his winged friend.

Yeah, Bruce went to his own "panic room" in his penthouse. It wasn't some pathway to the underground bunker.
