The 'What If?' Marvel RPG - Season thread

Alex paused. The chamber had fallen silent after Magneto's enquiry. This was his chance; from his perspective, there was no conceivable way that they could locate Charles Xavier - other than his own solution, of course. And the safety of the Earth itself had to be placed in a higher priority his his family discrepancies. According to the telepath's address to the world's nations, a major leader would perish at every hour's beginning. Slowly, he stepped forward.

"Actually...I may have a way. My real name is Alex Summers," he began, drawing in a deep breath, "and I am the brother of the X-Men's Cyclops. I could use this connection to find out where the hell Xavier's hiding out...that is, if you all would feel comfortable with that."

Gambit smiles at the revelation.

"Now 'dis Gambit's type a' game. Gambit always win when he got an ace up 'is sleeve. 'Dere just one t'ing ah got ta ask. What exactly are ya prepared ta do Mags? Just how many bodies are ya' prepared to leave in our wake if necessary? 'Cause after da' friendly rivalry just turned deadly."

Erik looked from one to the other.

"The Brotherhood do not kill Gambit, try and remember that. As far as what you are suggesting goes Havok...I think we may have an easier alternative. Rogue used to run with the X-Men years ago, and she has certain ties that are within the team. Rogue will be the one to lead us there, since she knows where they are based."

"What we need is someone who can get us in without causing alarm..and I think Remy, you'll fit that bill nicely. We need to decide who goes and who stays, since this mission may be some of our final ones. I will give all who go a Psy Dampner, which will protect you from any mind attacks. One of my goals is to get my son out of there, he does not know what he is involved in."

"My choice to go is Myself, Rogue, Gambit, Big Bertha, and Havok. I think you may be able to talk your brother down Alex. I would like Vulcan to lead the attack."

"By the way Alex...interesting you being a Summers...since Vulcan, the field leader of the brotherhood is also a Summers."

"You da' boss Mags."

Gambit removes one of the cards from the deck he was shuffling. It was the ace of spades. Gambit barely charges the card with energy and flicks it up into the air. It popped like a firecracker. Everyone turned and stared at Remy like he set off a bomb.

"What? 'Dat was da' card o' death. Ah don't t'ink you be wantin' 'dat card either. Gambit t'inks he try again."

I roll my eyes at the swamp rat and turn to Magneto

"Ah'll enter tha coordinates into tha navigation system, once we're there y'all need to be careful, tha whole place has surveillence and security up ta yer ears." I turn to Remy "Its a big mansion on the outside, real normal lukin, but its just a front, the lower levels is where ya wanna head to see the real stuff."

IC Otto Octavius: Doctor Octopus
Season I - Part Five

Otto Octavius sat behind his mamoth desk, the orange glow of sunset burning through the windows behind him.

yearonevp8.jpg

In his mind, he carefully picked over every step of his plan. He wanted to be sure there were no mistakes when the time came. In the spirit of readiness, he looked at Tony Stark's latest message once more.

"Alright, Otto. I'll meet you. It's good to hear a sane voice other than the one inside of my head. I'm perfectly glad to take refuge in S.H.I.E.L.D hq. However, as I'm sure you can understand, I'm not willing to come in unarmed. I trust nobody in the government, not even those who offer kindness. Jesus had Judas. Caesar, Brutus. I certainly won't risk having my own knife in my back again. I'm bringing a few of my Iron Men. Not all 50, but probably about 4.
Otto, When I arrive at S.H.I.E.L.D, you'll notice that my suit hasn't been modified at all. I would ask if I could use some of your technology to better equip myself for the war that surely lies ahead.
I thank you from the bottom of my heart.
Tony Stark"

Octavius smiled as he finished the message once more. Stark was doing his best to sound brave and self-assured, but Otto knew he was a desperate man backed into a corner. He knew Stark did not trust him, but he also knew that the beleaguered turncoat had nowhere else to go. Surely, Octavius had been the only one to make the unpopular decision of offering amnesty to a treasonist.

The fact that Stark needed to upgrade his armor would only make it easier for Otto to steal the information necessary to assemble his own army of Iron Men. The thought made him quiver with delight: a fleet of Iron Men leading his Clone Army into battle. He was about to become unstoppable. The world was his oyster...

The only problem that remained was how to deal with Stark and his platoon of Iron Men when they arrived. As if in response to his very thought, Mac Gargan entered Otto's office.

"Greetings, Mr. Gargan." Otto said pleasantly. "Judging by your attire, it would seem you are prepared to see our plan set in motion?"

Gargan snarled. "Yes sir."

Iron Man Chapter Sixteen

"Bucky... This isn't as bad as you think. What you need to decide is, where do you stand? Do you stand with the office or the liberties it stands for? Goodbye." Before he can respond, I hang up.

I fly from Arizona to New York using some trans-phasal plane technology I created. I had waypoints installed through out the city all of which connect to this base. The only problem is, should I run into trouble, I 'm done for. I can get to New York through the portals, but I can get back to Arizona.

ironman.jpg

I fly from one of my waypoints to S.H.I.E.L.D. I am floating in front of the window of the top office of S.H.I.E.L.D headquarters. I tap the glass and get Otto's attention. He's sitting with his 2nd in command, Mac Gargan...who happens to be in full Scorpion gear. Otto opens the window and I land in front of his desk. Helping myself to an apple from the bowl on Otto's center table, I flop into a chair. I slide my newly painted faceplate back. I throw the apple into the air and catch it and take a bite. Putting my feet up onto the table, I look at Otto and say,

"Y'know Otto, I hope I can call you that, I painted my suit, but I'm pretty interested in some modifications." Motioning for my men to take positions next to the door and the two other men in the room, I calmly say. "So, Otto. Show me where to go."

One kiss. One simple kiss. Thats where it changed.

and now this....

It was a station wagon. red. with a peace sign bumper sticker and a hubcap falling off, driving down a dirt road in central kansas. That was their fantasticar. Sue Storm wondered what her life could have been. She tried on different last names..Sue Grimm...Sue Von Doom...Sue Richards. In the end, she storm-mackenzie, married to the once king of Atlantis. The one known as Namor the Sub-Mariner.

and how her world changed.

You see they never thought this through, because for all of their love, they could not change one simple, biological fact. Sue was not Atlantean. She could not breathe underwater.

The Fantastic 4 had disbanded years ago. Johnny Storm assumed control of Storm Industries. Ben, having no place to go, went on Johnny's payroll. His job, was titled Executive Vice President of Internal Operations. His roll, well was little more than Johnny's whipping boy.

Both Doom and Reed had disappeared, and nobody knew what either was up to, but last Sue heard, Reed had become a crackpot inventor, bent on discovering something called the negative zone.

And that left just Namor and Sue. If you ask yourself why they were in a car in the middle of Kansas, the answer would be easy.

No water.

Because you see, when any king abdicates his throne, many rise up to fill the void of power. Namor couldn't go home because his wife couldn't follow, and the only way to prevent him from asserting his claim to the Atlanteans throne, or any of his heirs, was to kill him.

So both Namor and Sue were essentially on the run, hiding from all of those who knew them, including their family.

Namor veered off the road as the missile flew in exploding feet from where the car had just been.

"They've found us," Namor screamed.

One kiss, and it changed Sue's life.

IC Otto Octavius: Doctor Octopus
Season I - Part Six

"Y'know Otto, I hope I can call you that... I painted my suit, but I'm pretty interested in some modifications. So, Otto. Show me where to go."

It was painfully obvious to Octavius that Stark was trying his best to take control of the situation. He was trying to sound confident and collected. But it was an act Otto could see through. Tony Stark was a desperate, scared man with no friends in the world.

"You will find a laboratory just down the hall, Mr. Stark." Octavius said, gesturing towards the door. "In it will be many computers capable of performing whatever modifications you might desire."

Stark nodded, but was eyeing Gargan suspiciously.

"Please do not trouble yourself with the garb of my associate. Mr. Gargan has just returned from a perilous mission and was relaying to me the details."

"Whatever." Stark responded as the threw his apple core in the garbage. Again, he was putting on a show. He was acting as though he hadn't a care in the world. As though nothing could worry him.

Stark got out of his seat and headed for the door, gesturing for his men to follow him.

"I think not, Mr. Stark." Octavius said. "While you are welcome to help yourself to my laboratory, I cannot have your armored men storming around the facility. Only recently did I become Director of SHIELD. It was a bold enough move for me to invite you here, what with you murdering the president and all... But I cannot permit you to be accompanied by a personal army. I do not want my employees to begin to doubt my judgement at such an early stage. I believe I have been more than generous in welcoming you, and so I must ask that you respect my wishes. This will be much easier for my personnel to swallow if you appear docile."

Stark glared at Octavius. He was upset, but knew he was in no position to bargain. For the first time, his inner turmoil showed. He turned to his men.

"I will only be a few minutes. Be on your guard."

With that, Stark left the room. Octavius' face broke into a wide smile as he turned to address Stark's men.

"You may relax gentlemen, I assure you. I know your journey must have been long and arduos. Make yourself at home here in my office. Rest, eat... be merry."

Slowly, cautiously, the men began to plop themselves down on the many overstuffed leather couches scattered around the large room. They began to converse amongst themselves.

"On their guard, indeed..." Octavius thought.

The director of SHIELD reached beneath his desk and pulled out a strange metal device. He placed it on the desk.

"Excuse me for a moment, but do you any of you men have the slightest idea what this object is?"

Although the Iron Men turned to face him, not a single one of them had an answer for Octavius.

"Perhaps you've heard of devices that send out pulses? Pulses that are designed to short out any electrical equipment within a certain radius? I'm sure your marvelous suits have been built with safeguards against such devices... unfortunately, this is not one of those devices."

Octavius pressed a button on the device. Instantly, the Iron Men began to panic. Many of them clamped their hands over their helmets in a vain attempt to block their ears. Some took flight, unable to see, and smashed into the walls. Many could be heard screaming from within their thick iron shells.

"No, this is a different kind of device, which sends out a different kind of pulse. You will find that your sensors have been overloaded. You have been rendered blind, deaf, confused... in fact, you are now utterly helpless."

Octavius smile as he watched the Iron Men writhe on the floor, clutching desperately at the equipment that was violently backfiring.

"Mr. Gargan, let's be quick about this."

Iron Man Chapter Seventeen

My armor seizes up for a second when I enter the room. I ask my armor what the problem is.

"Faint inability to move. Possible cause: Security scanner in computer analysis room."

I remove the arm and chest portions of the armor and connect them to the computer. Too bad for Otto, I already improved my armor. I'm only using the computer to gain access to the S.H.I.E.L.D database so I can find some info on Miles Warren for the Parker clone.

Prisoner Information: Miles Warren

Full Name: Miles Warren
Inmate Status: Freed
Known Aliases: Jackal
Affiliations: None
Identity Status: Secret
Powers and abilities: Gave himself the full powers and abilities of a Jackal. Experimentation led to research in the field of cloning. Has made several Spider-Man (Peter Parker) clones. One is currently assuming the alias of Kaine. Kaine's status is known. There were two female clones, neither of whose location is known. Warren revealed the location of another Parker clone under 'interrogation' but this location was found to be empty.

With that, I stop reading, but my armor alerts me that the computer has gotten into my armor past my firewalls. Several of my 'files' have been compromised. I created these files should the suit fall into enemy hands. They appear to be blueprints, but when the suit is built, it won't work. Realizing that Octavious has double crossed me, I put my armor back on and sprint into the office. I see all four of my Iron Men dead on the floor.

"Oh, Otto," I say "What have you done?"

XAVIER

"Turn on the camera's, it's been an hour..."

I smile, the world must learn the new rules by which it should live.

"Greetings my people. As I promised, a world leader will die. Since all of you in the UN are together, I think it's only fair to destroy a few this time round, just to show I'm serious..."

Placing Cerebro upon my head, a few brains implode and collapse.

"Now, there's a few european countries that no longer suffer from their idiotic leaders, see you in an hour..."

I am somewhat full of angst, as this may be the most enjoyable part of my master plan, but no one, not even my closest X-men know about my true plan....

PUNISHER

The clock's ticking, always ticking, never stopping until I'm dead. The doc's said that the bullet could move and kill me anytime. Tick. Nothing left to live for anyway. Tock. Once I've punished all those who deserve it, fate will let me die.

The longer I spend alive, the more of my memory I lose. Hours of blackness have now become days. How did I get here?

Where is here?

A large tower, shimmering, expensive. No doubt paid for with blood money. I look at my waist to see explosives. I guess I have a pretty good reason for being here.

Tick.

The clock......where is that ticking coming from?

Tock.

"You wanna watch yourself Frank."

It's the man, from the the photo, from the warehouse, from my memories.

"Who are you?"

Tick.

"Time's running out Frank."

Tock.

I look down to draw a gun, but looking up, he's gone. And so's the ticking. The revloving door of the building awaits, punishment is due, and punishment doesn't wait for anyone, not even the man from the photo, not even for Frank Castle.

Matt sat in his chair still reeling from what Tony Stark did to him earlier. Spider-Man was gone....and the room was a mess. He heard the sound of his enforcers on the other side of the office door starting to work their tools to get through.

His mind was filled with hate, blood, death. Tony has no idea what he started. He probably thinks that he could scare Matt into changing. He didn't bring Daredevil in because there is no hard proof that he is the Kingpin of crime. Matt was much better at avoiding mistakes than Fisk ever was.

He finally stood up, and wiped blood from his mouth. He had been careless though, when he thought he escaped, he hadn't thought that Tony would care enough to come down and grab him.

I have to find out where Tony is now housing his little army. Coward hides behind his machines. I have to find Spider-Man again...I still need him.

He pressed a button on his desk. A voice came over the intercom.

Yes sir?

Get the repair crew in here to clean up this mess.

They are working on the doors now, and as soon as that's done they will finish the rest of the office.

Good.

He walked over to the window that they had left through, it was still open. He decided he would shower here, rest up a bit, then get ahold of some of his underlings and find out tonight's status.

Then in the morning, Matthew Murdock has a case to win.

The Scarlet Spider Chapter 8

What an ignoramus. He doesn't even know who I am.

Well, he knows who I am. Who doesn't know who I am, though.

Wait... that doesn't make sense.

"You think you're special, Parker?" I say angrily, allowing my new nanotech suit to uncloak and pull back from my face, revealing myself to Peter. "You're not. Meet me, Miles Warren's greatest creation. I'd like you meet you. Well not technically you... you're actually meeting me. But I'm you. Except I dress better and I don't throw the people who care about me most to the ground." I say, cracking my knuckles.

"You've got some nerve, mister. First, you let our Uncle die. YEAH. Yeah, that was your fault. Then you throw his wife to the ground and put her into an asylum. Real nice. Then you let the love of your life murder her own father. Well, guess what Petey-o's... I'm here now, and I've got a better sense of style."
I finish my little speech and take a fighting stance.

"I heard about your little tussle with Iron Man. You up for another fight? If you are, bring it on."

Spider-Man approached slowly, fury pumping through his veins, as tangible as the blood it ran in. His opponent - whatever his identity - was aware of Mary Jane, Aunt May, even Uncle Ben...whom he had referred to as our. His lips parted and he began to respond; his words, however, were laced with venom, and his tone was fierce. "I'll ask you this one more time, gumbo, before I pound your face into the concrete...who are you, and how the hell do you know...what you know?"

Erik looked from one to the other.

"By the way Alex...interesting you being a Summers...since Vulcan, the field leader of the brotherhood is also a Summers."

Alex froze. Vulcan? A Summers? Could it possibly be...Gabriel? His lips pressed together tightly as Gambit and Rogue began their exchange, discussing the assignment before them. Already he had been selected to accompany the team - yet his own brother had also been volunteered. He tensed, and drew in a shaky breath. He couldn't work alongside Gabriel, not after all this time! And not against Scott, of all people...in some way, it resembled a twisted family reunion. One that Alex most certainly did not want to take part in.

But it was too late. He was a member of the Brotherhood now, and with Xavier plannign to dominate the globe itself, he had to act.

"Let's get this over with..." he said softly, hoping that no-one would ntoice the rasp quality drowning his tone.

The Scarlet Spider Chapter 9

Boy, this guy's nervous. I can tell.

"Oh Petey, you're not asking me to do anything. You think you scare me? You don't. Since when did you drop the red and blue tights anyway?" I say, letting the suit re-form over my face. "Then again, I s'pose black is much more your style now-a-days. I'll tell you how I know what I know after you tell me why you're a monster. Mmmkay? End of discussion. If you don't mind, though, can you hurry this whole fight thing up a bit? I've got an appointment with the Punisher and I'd hate to be late."

A fist struck into the man's stomach, a small degree of force driving it, yet enough to wind an average male. Of course, Spider-Man realised...that this was anything but an average male. He hurled himself into a back somersault and landed softly a few metres away from the stranger. A tangle of impact webbing shot forward from his wrist. "As soon as I've loosened a few teeth, I'll find out who you are. Right now...I just wanna hurt you so bad, your corpse will be unrecognisable."

The Scarlet Spider Chapter 10

I catch the webbing, roll it up into a ball and throw it over my shoulder. .

"You ready for this?" I ask. Before he answers, though, I leap into the air, land behind him, and kick him in the back. He flies onto the ground and slides along the building top on his stomach.

Spider-Man pressed his palms to the concrete and used his momentum to twist his form upright. Balling his hands into fists, he yearned for greater resilience and felt the symbiote readily oblige. "So come on, what do ya call yourself? The telepathic jerk? The mind-reading @$$?" That was it - he was a mutant of some sort; somehow, he had dredged the alien-encrusted vigilante's memories up.

That had to be it...

He dove towards his foe, a sharp kick snapping forward to drive him off the rooftop.

The Scarlet Spider Chapter 11

"Oh, right, I almost forgot... my name." I say as Peter kicks me onto my back. I slide backwards and fall off of the edge of the building. He walks over and looks down the building side, expecting to see a splat on the ground. Instead, he sees me, clinging to the wall, just like he can.

"I think I like the name 'The Scarlet Spider'" I say, thrusting myself back up past the building top. Parker looks up to see me flying through the air. I shoot a webline down to right in front of him and I pull myself down. I land hard on the building top and cause some concrete chips to fly into the air.

"Whatcha gonna do now, Popeye?"

"The Scarlet Spider? What a ripoff." He approached slowly, his feet padding softly on the rooftop, his posture reflecting no signs of distress. A grin brushed his lips as he neared his opponent. Leaning in so that their masked noses almost brushed, their respective visages mere inches apart, the Spider-Man spoke gently. "Oh, what am I gonna do next? I'm going to snap your neck, you little freak...just like I did to her!" His limbs shot upwards as his rage shot into a sudden incline, the blow intended to throw the imposter into the alleyway below...

His limbs shot upwards as his rage shot into a sudden incline, the blow intended to throw the imposter into the alleyway below...

{OOC: SSF, I was thinking that Ben could see Webb now...}

The Scarlet Spider Chapter 12

"Her?" I whisper. I look down into a nearby alleyway and see Madame Web lying down. Dead. I look up, to Peter. I can tell that he's smiling under that sticky, black suit.

I say nothing. I simply stare at him for a moment. Then, I lunge at him, ready to beat him into submission.

Spider-Man caught the Scarlet Spider's wrists and twisted, hauling the attacker over his shoulder and slamming him to the concrete. A flip took him back to the wall, his adhesive palms and heels holding him firmly in place. "Aw...is the little brat upset? Did he scrape his knee?" he taunted, malice tainting his voice.

The Scarlet Spider Chapter 13

I cough a little. Pete's gotten stronger. I try to pull myself up, but I can't. Something's holding me to the ground. I look down and I see a black substance crawling up my costume. I look at Peter, he doesn't seem to know what's happening. I feel the liquid fully encompass me and before it covers my face, I look at Peter. He's a little confused, I can tell. The liquid forms a hard shell around me and I can feel it seeping into my veins. Then, I can hear it in my head...

"Look at him... he thinks he's all powerful...that he can rule the world."
It says.

"What happened to him?" I ask.

"Years ago, Spider-Man was recruited to be part of the Secret Wars. A trans-galactical battle that involved Earth's greatest heroes against its most evil villains. Our friend, Parker, fought well. His costume, however, didn't quite do as well as he did. He stumbled upon a costume repairing machine and it gave him what you see him in now." It says.

"That black thing?" I say.

"Precisely." It murmurs. " The costume, the black one, is an alien. It needs a host to survive, and that's where Pete comes into play. I don't know if Peter's still in there. I could hear him trying to fight the alien... Tony Stark came very close to saving Peter, but eventually, he'll lose that battle. Eventually, the suit will drain him of his energy, Parker will die, and the suit will move onto a new host."

"What about you? How do you fit into all of this?"

"I'm the creatures spawn...essentially its son. However, because Parker and the suit were busy battling each other, neither of them knew about me. The suit thinks its doing justice in its own harsh manner. Well, I've come to you so that we can put things right. This new Spider-Man is out of control. So, I propose that you and I join together so that we can stop him."

"How do I know I won't end up like Peter?"

"You'll have to trust me. If you don't you'll end up like Madame Webb."

"Fine. But I expect you to leave as soon as we've stopped Pete"

"Done" It says, and I can feel it flooding my system. The, without warning, we crash through the front of the pod. Ready to take on Peter.

IC Otto Ocavius: Doctor Octopus
Season I - Part Seven

"Oh, Otto... What have you done?"

"There you are Mr. Stark." Otto said with a smile. "How did the upgrades go? Smoothly, I hope."

Tony fires up the thrusters in his suit and begins hovering inches off the floor.

"Hmm... Your suit is still functioning? Then it would seem you discovered my true intentions. A pity. For without your suit you would have been defenseless, and therefore, in no position to put up a fight. I imagine you would have accepted my terms without hesitation and I would not have had to use lethal force... now, however..."

Otto shot out two of his robotic arms, which Iron Man dodged by mere inches. He fired a blast at Octavius, but the director of SHIELD used another of his arms to block it.

Gargan whipped his tail towards Stark, catching him in the back and sending him crashing headfirst into a book case. Tony quickly recovered and began hovering in the air once more.

"This is foolishness Stark. You cannot defeat us both. You know this to be true. Surrender now and you will find me to be a merciful man. Keep testing my patience and you will see the brutality that will come when it wears thin."

As Otto spoke he was inching closer to the device that would send out a pulse and overload Tony's sensors. Tony, having seen such devices before, quickly fired a blast that destroyed the device.

"Quite clever of you Mr. Stark. If only your men had been so astute."

"Why did you do this Otto? Why?"

"Do not speak of morality, Mr. Stark. You have committed treason. You are the outlaw, not me. As far as the public knows, Otto Octavius is a just man... and so I am. All I want is power, Mr. Stark. Absolute power. Enough power to impose order, a peaceful existence that will never be challenged. You can help. You and your technology."

Tony hovered, thinking this through. Then he opened a compartment near his wrist and pressed a button. A quiet noise could be heard from within the suits of the four fallen Iron Men. It was their data being erased... the technology being destroyed.

"No. I won't help a madman."

"Alas, then you must die at the hands of one."

Octavius lashed out with two of his arms, missing by mere inches. Tony swooped in and tried to land a punch, but missed as well. Gargan grabbed Tony in a full nelson, but Tony was able to use momentum to flip Gargan over his head. As soon as he had thrown Gargan, however. He was stuck in the back of the head by a tentacle.

Another of Otto's artifical limbs coiled around his throat while a third pummeled him in the chest, causing his suit to experience minor losses of power. If he didn't act fast, Otto was going to literally crush him.

Iron Man Chapter Eighteen

Boy. If I wasn't so optimistic, I'd say I was in a tough little situation right now.

"Gllk." I try to speak, but the tentacle is too tightly wrapped around my neck.

"Whats that, Tony?." He says, loosening the tentacle slightly.

"Two things: " I mumble, catching my breath, "One: Know your enemy. And two: get a better henchman."

"Hmm, know my enemy?" He inquires.

"Yup... I'm not sure you knew this... but I lied. My armor has been modified. And luckily, I've placed a massive blade into my chest plate, and its about to burst out."

I chuckle, as the blade explodes out of my chest. He barely dodges it, but it gives me enough time To kick him in the stomach, and his tentacles disengage. He tries to hit me.

"And about your henchman, he isn't nearly competent. I'm surprised at you, Otto." I say as I launch a repulsor blast at Scorpion. It hits him in the chest and he flies backwards into a wall. I tap into my armor and have it activate the AI control on the leftover armor from my dead men.

"You won't get my tech, Otto." The suits clumsily fall through the windows surrounding the office and fly into the distance. Otto hurls a tentacle at me and I block it with my adamantium wrist blades. I somersault on the ground behind Otto. Before he turns around, I engage my cloak and hover above him.

"How the tables have turned, Otto. " I say. And taunting him I say: "Marco... wait you say that its my job to say 'polo'."

IC Adrian Toomes: The Vulture
Season I - Part Six

Adrian had kept busy while waiting for his ankles to heal. First thing he did was fix the door to his apartment. While not entire whole, he had done a fairly good job repairing the damage caused by Constrictor.

Another of Adrian's favorite hobbies had been keeping track of Evan Radditch: the snake who had ousted him from his role as chief of police. It seemed everyday Radditch was offering new incentives, hoping to entice someone into coming forward with details about Adrian's location.

"I think our department's track record speaks for itself." Radditch had said during a radio interview. "In the past month, our officers have been responsible for the capture of several notorious criminals including Elias Wortham, Simon Maddocks, and Daniel Berkhart. We will not submit to these costumed terrorists, we will remain vigilant!"

"Furthermore, we are moving closer and closer to apprehending the crimelord known as Daredevil, and well as former chief of police Adrian Toomes. We have reason to believe there may be a link between these two suspects."

After slipping out of his apartment to grab a cup of coffee, Adrian returned home to find a note had been slipped under his door. He unfolded it and read it carefully.

Time's up Grandpa.
This is your last chance.
The old bell-tower. Tomorrow. 11pm.
Bring the Wings.
- Constrictor

Adrian crumpled the note and threw it in the garbage. He would be there, and he would be ready for the fight of his life.
