The "who would have been a better Venom" thread.

Why do you think that though? Look at Brock in the comics, he's huge. Look at Duncan, likewise.

yea, thats the thing with art. you can be as extreme as you want. i like the comic venom pics when he's a smaller size. topher fine te way he is. with the effects team they can make him bigger when he become venom.

You know why Venom is so much larger than Spider-Man was when he had the symbiote suit right?

Your logic is flawed.

Molina fell out of the limelight. He's done films, but "Spider-Man 2" really jumpstarted his career back into overdrive again.

And here's my theory about Brock and Venom.

Brock is made small in this movie because he's just an ordinary guy who like Peter is pining for the chance to be top photographer at the Bugle. He's basically Spider-Man's id to his ego, the yin to his yang. I mean I think what Raimi is going for is symbolically they're the exact same people, it's just they've been handed different fates. Peter rejects the suit because it embodies everything he isn't, Eddie accepts it because he's let things like jealousy, hate, rage, anger, frustration, etc. get the best of him and the suit feeds off all of these things and that's why he grows bigger, stronger, faster, and meaner than Spider-Man.

I mean what is so wrong with having a small Brock anyways? It doesn't really fall out of the small Spider-Man history or canon. Brock started out as a normal thin guy till he started pumping iron and lifting weights and eventually became a bulky, muscular guy. Does that mean because of the pics we've seen of Topher right now he won't do the same?

Just give it time dude.

That's actually better that he's not recognizable. Remember Batman Forever? No one thought "Hey that's the Riddler on screen." they thought "Hey that's Jim Carrey." The same thing is going to happen with Eric Foreman.

Well the movie is done filming and Grace still looks like a tooth pick. Look at him at comic con tommorow.

sorry. i dont understand
The reason Venom is so much bigger is because the symbiote feeds off of Brock's own muscles and adrenaline.

^ i agree with NinjaturtleFan

i think it be cool if in the movie they show brock starting to bulk up more becuse of his hate for peter and wanting more attention say from maybe gwen or something. he starts out 'puny' as you guys call him, but his rage with the help of the suit turns him into this muscular built guy you all want him to be.

Unfortunatley, that compromise isn't going to happen. Look at recent pics of Gopher.

Well let's look at something too Mr. Web. Venom is going to make an appearance 10-15 minutes at the end. That doesn't mean Brock can't come back in 4 as a totally different looking man. I mean this movie is pretty much the "Venom Saga" set-up. If Eddie at the end got sent to jail he'd have time to take his aggression out pumping iron, lifting weights, and building his body and mind up ready for another fight.

Just a thought although I'm sure you'll trash it probably.

well im leaving work. sorry i cant stay to make more arguements to have you 'prove' wrong.

Hey, that wouldn't be too bad, but I'm sure that in Spider-Man 3 when Venom comes out he'll be huge and there will be no reason to see Brock weight train.

right.... and since then hes been in fiddler.... and a couple of episodes of

are you ready?

Law &
Order!!!!!!

And he was in the DaVinci Code, but lets face it, that movie sucked.

You're right, his career really is in overdrive.

You guys are probably gonna disagree a lot on this but Henry Rollins was a good canidate

It's amazing that you have all seen the movie already and know who would make a better Brock. Obviously nobody would post who they thought would make a better Brock without seeing the finished film. So can someone send me a copy of the finished film since you have all obviously seen it.

No, it's just that obvious.

The Rock would've been a good Brock, but he is more Namor to me. The other people on your list are more cut out for Batman movies and Thomas Hayden Church IS Sandman.

Let Topher have his day before you jump on him like a rabid foaming dog ready to tear his flesh off just yet. Give the man time. To me he is a glimpse of original Brock and Ultimate Brock and I'm perfectly fine with a mixture of both. :venom:

excatly most the actors they choosed suck and the ones that were good could never be brock simply because there big actors

You think Peter Sarsgaard sucks? Are you ****ing loony? On the flip side, you think CHRIStopher "clown shoe" Grace is good? ****ing nutsville.

IMO there was a prime candidate for Venom from part 1 and nobody used him... Flash Thompson imo has the attitude. Before cast of spiderman 3 was announced i was thinking IF they could get him involved in the current happenings in Parkers life he would be a great venom. He has a grudge againt Peter and he would definitely want to get even.

As for Grace... i havent seen the film yet so ill hold judgment. After all, the suit decides if venom works or not ultimately imo. I hope that was done correctly.

Playing a good Brock is important in getting the Venom character right.

Topher is a great actor.

He has already been cast.

We haven't seen the movie, so you shouldn't automatically say he will suck.

So looks like "Twiggy Grace", or "Blowpher", is here to stay.

Plus, there is a 99.9% chance that he will own.

'Nuff said.

.

When George Clooney was cast as Batman, I knew he would stink up the joint. He was just too comedic looking for the role.
Years later he stated ,"I may have singled handedly killed the franchise." That may be overstating it but he realized that he wasn't right for the role.

And then...You wouldn't have VENOM. Flash Thompson is NOT Venom, Eddie Brock is. (And Mac Gargan, currently, but thats another story) Flash Thompson is not a supervillain, and its wrong to make him one.

Topher Grace looks exactly like Ultimate Eddie Brock, and the Ultimate version was a much better origin anyway. As long as Topher pulls off the vicious bitterness that Brock has, I am fine with him playing my favorite comic book villain.

And if Vin Deisel is suggested for Venom again, I will hunt you down, and hurt you. Thats Batman and Robin style casting that is.

Plus, i always thought that flash thompson kinda loved spider-man.

yeahhhhhh.

by the way, XCharlieX, flash doesnt have a grudge, he's just a bully to parker. Technically peter would have the grudge
