Did the developers make good on their claim that you dont need to have played the other games to understand Witcher 3? They said this is the perfect jumping point for the series. Is that true or just fluff they put out there?
Eh, a little of both IMO. I will NEVER believe developers/publishers that make the claim that the final entry is the "perfect jumping in point". Thats BS, the perfect jumping in point is at the damn beginning or at very least the previous game. I said the same thing when Bioware claimed ME3 was the perfect time to pick up the series.
With that said, this game does a decent job of at least introducing you to the world, in a better way than Assassins of Kings did. It eases you into the mechanics with an excellent tutorial. So by the time you are put out on your own, you at least of a small understanding how how this world operates.
But i still don't believe this is the perfect jumping in spot as there are faaaar too many big relationships and quests that revolve around Geralts past that would just sail over ones head who is just now coming to the story. It wont have nearly the impact.

I haven't played it much. Been busy with work and Bloodborne arrived yesterday and I spent last night building my character for that and getting a feel for that game.
