elmayimbe again? I don't know if I can trust this info.

Thank you for being the voice of reason around here! As if she would be walking around with an American flag cloak to blend in. :whatever:
LOL. No problem.

That cape is fine too, when shes in ambassador mode or something, but when shes just walking around and trying to blend in. Girl needs to walk places too y'know!

Again, I'm not saying men aren't objectified. They are, but it's not as frequent and isn't part of a larger social problem and a long standing system of oppression. I covered that in my giant post to the user that doesn't believe in the male gaze
Ah ah ah, I didn't say I don't believe in the "male gaze" I said I don't believe in the "universal male gaze". Meaning, everytime a male represents a female in a drawing or photo or film, it is automatically meant to sexually objectify her, even if she wears little to no cloth. As I said before. Nudity does not equal sexual objectification.

As for the opression of men through society. You have no idea. There is a looooot of crap men have to put up with thanks to gender roles and yes, even social problems because of it and male objectification is just a frequent as it is with females. It's just not talked about as much.

As for a lot of modern feminists. They are a bit like religious fundamentalist theists when it comes to their theories, very dogmatic and slightly irrational.

But ah, silly me I said I wouldn' dwell on this topic in the thread.*sigh* Okay, if there is the need to to elaborate this further I'd prefer PM's. Let's not clutter the thread with this debate.

Exactly. People need to understand that just because she's an ambassador does not mean she is not a trained warrior who knows how to blend in for espionage. That is another thing about her that sets her apart from Sups she has a military like background and tactical skills.

Also does anyone else think Angelina Jolie and Gal favor each other. Maybe she can be Hippolyta?
I saw it when looking at this picture.

according of what elmayimbe said...

I hope not. I'm all for a certain degree of modernizing in the design but I do still want it to look like the classic iconic Wonder Woman costume. This looks more like a almost futuristic concept. I'm not a fan of the design at all. Also really don't understand the need for the nose ring.

This info actually sounds more plausible than some of his other claims. Given how the costumes were designed in MOS, and the aesthetics that they were going for, I expect that WW's costume will look more armored than her comic book one. My guess is that Snyder will use a costume that looks more like something that an actual warrior would wear.

technically any costume that features the metal eagle and bracelets is armor.

Exactly. She's pretty much always worn armor in some fashion.

Now that being said...I think people are focusing too much on her warrior status...in the same way Nolan's series focused on the ninja aspect of Batman.
Wonder Woman is a warrior...but she is so much more. I would like to see her look more like Wonder Woman than Warrior Woman. An interesting character arc for her in this movie would be her moving away from her warrior ways and becoming a superhero. I'd like for the trinity to influence each other.

Sounds good to me!

I think you have a point, but the aesthetics need not be mutually exclusive. Her wardrobe/armor can have a look of "practical" armor or at least look protective, without skimping on the fantasy/superhero aspects. I think it's way possible to do both.

No, man. You really don't have a clue what you're talking about. Just no. I'm not gonna pm you because there's no point. You just don't get it. You say you don't believe in things, but you have no idea what those things are even about. How can you not believe in stuff you don't understand? We can just end our discussion and perhaps you can do some research and talk to a few women.

I don't trust his info, but sounds awesome if true.

I could see that but would like for it to be closer to superhero than warrior...like Captain America. In the first movie his first suit is more soldier than superhero...but as the story continues the suit becomes more superhero-ish...culminating in the suits in Avengers and Cap 2...which are more superhero than soldier.

I agree with the notion of considering the superhero component and working that into the costume, but I'm not sure about the captain America example. I think his first costume was much better than his avengers one. They went too far away from the soldier aspect and made it kind of cartoony. Perhaps I'm in the minority with that view.

Your not I agree completely.

I hope not. I don't much like her, and think she's a terribly overrated and overpriced actress. Her lamentable performance as Olympias in Alexander is ample demonstration of her failing in a very similar role.

I'm not saying they are. Well, some are. Violence against women is still prevalent. But what I mean is that there's a history there. Women couldn't even vote that long ago. And to this day, we still make less money than men doing the same jobs. "System of oppression" is an umbrella of things that did affect us and still does.

Yeah, I think progress should be made. I think men tend to create the corporate ladder, which tilts the balance in an unfair way.

That accent in Alexander... YEEESSSSHHHH. :whatever:

But then again it may run in the family. When Voight did that accent in ANACONDA... Well let me put it this way, I am a Hispanic American that does not speak a lick of Spanish or have an accent. Yet when I do an impression of Voight doing his bad Spanish accent, I'M STILL DOING A BETTER ACCENT THEN WHAT HE DID IN THAT MOVIE. :word:
