I think what they're saying is that it would be stupid of him to do what he does without some form of protection. Sometimes, thugs get lucky.

That's exactly what I was trying to say. Thanks for clarifying.

I am not saying he shouldn't have some sort of protection...even the TDKR mentions the oval bat is there to make thugs shoot for it and thus is armored. Even in that scene in BB when we first see him...he didn't really need to fight anyone (not saying he shouldn't fight or be a master hand to hand combatant) but every comic I have read about Batman says the reason he dressed like a bat was to buy him the second or two to drop a thug before he gets lucky.

Even then, Batman can plan all he wants, but it's silly to assume that the extra time he buys is reliable (I'm not saying it is unreliable, but it's not going to work 100% of the time).

Wonder Woman doesn't need to become Xena-- she needs to be Wonder Woman.

No one is saying that she needs to become Xena. Xena is actually more of an inspiration to rely on potential suit designs that are tasteful and retain the core ideas of Wonder Woman. Ironically enough, WW's iconography involves being a warrior, so she isn't some simple Xena comparison as your post implies. Being WW in of itself is a problem considering that the one-piece "classic" is rather problematic to adapt to live-action. The biggest one being that it misses her Greek inspirations completely. Having said that, there are plenty of cool WW designs that doesn't need the classic one-piece to be Wonder Woman.

That Donna Troy suit is still my fave. :atp:

Wait a minute. Wonder Woman won't be played by Lucy Lawless? Isn't that the only way that Wonder Woman would become Xena?

Otherwise, I'm not sure a change in costume for Wonder Woman to something similar to that which Wonder Woman wore in the comic books long before Xena was even a gleam in Rob Tapert's eye would constitute Wonder Woman "becoming" Xena.

Also, no matter what Wonder Woman ends up wearing on screen, it's likely that "Xena" wore a similar costume at some point during the TV series. That being the TV series which finished back in 2001 and which most teenagers and twenty-somethings probably never even watched.

The problem is that the neo classic designs are a step backwards from modernizing her. She needs to look like a modern character.

It's a shame that one of the best versions of Wonder Woman's costume is a porno.

I would prefer a lighter red, but otherwise, the only thing that needs to be changed to make it suitable for family audiences is to add a few inches of material to cover her butt:

Yes and there is nothing wrong with that but since CB fans make up such a small percentage of the people who actually go to see these films we do have to make some concessions.

I'm not sure that's entirely true. If CBM fans were so few, I don't think studios would see them as such a bankable inbuilt audience, or make so many CBMs.

That's exactly what I was trying to say. Thanks for clarifying.

The point is that Batman, in those circumstances, would rather have the agility to vacate the line of fire, than the armour needed to absorb bullets.

I didn't think that needed saying to be perfectly honest.

When your just a man that is vulnerable to bullets, knives, explosives, blunt objects, etc, and you do this on a nightly basis, then you should wear some kind of body armor. Otherwise, you're an idiot. Batman's armor looks like a bat to scare criminals, but scaring people shouldn't be his only protection. Especially since he faces people like Joker, Two Face, Ra's al Ghul, etc who ARE NOT scared of him.

Why choose one over another, when having both would make more sense?

These pics are ok and I know I sound like a broken record but I'd like to see something that say WW to me and not 300.

The premise of my statement there was that if he had to choose or tilt the balance towards one it would be agility rather than armour.

Batman is so much more than a bruiser in armour.

What's your vision of WW?

Probably closer to her comics suit with some tweaks. Everyone is focusing on the amazon warrior and WW is so much more than a chick in armor holding a sword. I would go with something that doesn't look out of place standing next to Batman and Superman.

Like what...she should wear a cape? Her distinction as a superhero is as an Amazon warrior. Playing down that aspect so she's similar to Bats and Supes takes away what makes her unique.

Honestly, the more I look at this thread, the more I think that any "classic" visuals mixed with armor will probably look fantastic. The details may not matter that much in the end.

She will look very out of place next to them with a swim suit on. These are facts.

The Amazon warrior feel is very much the lesser of two evils.

How do those look like 300, besides being armor. They have the classic WW colors, they even incorporate some of the classic WW design. It really seems like the ONLY reason why you're saying that they don't "look like WW" is because they're not the swimsuit costume, which would not work in this film universe.

Crossposting these from like 3 (4?) other threads, haha:

That manip looks awesome (I'd probably extend the skirt from WW's sides).

I prefer THAT particular costume with the pants. It just works much better with the battle skirt aesthetically, at least to me.
