The "World of Heroes" DC RPG Season III

[The Question]

I find a disk in Luthor's desk. Blue prints for a new Lexcorp facility. I erase the data and copy the files onto the new disk. After a few minutes, I take the disk and head back to the roof. I walk over to the others.

"I recopied the files. Now....where the hell is Batman?"

I hesitate for a moment.

I think to the time Unity made me that offer. To how Unity's corruption of Garnder may be passed on to me. To how I was thrown across the room trying to pull a charge off of Gardner.

If that happens again, I will kill him rather than take any more chances.

I scan his ring while continuously rechecking the functioning of my own. It is very...odd. It does not feel like a Lantern ring at all. The energy signature has no resembelence whatsoever. I'm not even sure how his ring is functioning.

But soon, I have the frequency. It too is very odd. My ring does not seem able to analyze it all. As if it is too...large, too...complicated. But it does not matter. I believe I have enough to find what I am looking for.

"I have it," I say, pulling away from his ring a little too quickly. I rise into the air. "Where do we go first?"

"Up to you," I reply in a calm way.

Sinestro looks at me with an air of suspicion.

"I mean, whereever we go, i'll be useless once the speed force hits, so you decide,"

Clever. This is not the same Gardner I've grown to know and loathe. This is an entirely new Gardner to loathe.

Despite a few incongruencies, I'm nearly convinced he is now working for Unity. But I cannot afford to arouse his suspicion. Therefore...I will have to continue to openly hate him.

It is not a difficult idea.

"We know the speedster is not in Gotham or Keystone. It is unlikely he would be in Metropolis. And we can obviously rule out Coast City and Bludhaven since it is unlikely anyone lives there." I enjoy the look of hatred Gardner gives me. Good, he may not suspect a thing.

"My guess would be that Flash would locate himself in a large city where he can protect as many as possible. What is the first large city in this county that comes to your mind. We can fly there, and you can scan ahead for areas where your ring picks up interference."

Clever. This is not the same Gardner I've grown to know and loathe. This is an entirely new Gardner to loathe.

I pick Red X up and shoot a grapple back to LexCorp Tower. I land under the shadows, with no one noticing. Question comes back to the roof.

"Right behind you." I see everyone jump and I try not to grin. If there's one thing I like about doing this, it's scaring them stiff.

"Now can you tell us what's on the disk, Question?"

Sinestro looks at me like i'm insane.

"If I fly into the speed force affected areas, i'll lose power and fall to my death,"

Sinestro smirks. Like he knew that.

"Fine, follow me...."

I turn around to face him one last time as I fly off.

"...But if I fall, you better damn well catch me!"

"Kyle Rayner."

"Shut up."

"Join us Kyle. You can not win."

"We'll see."

"Join us. With the power of the Green Lanterns, you will be unstoppable in the new world order. A god among a peaceful universe."

"You want this power? You'll have to pry it from my cold dead fingers."

Kyle came back to reality. Batman and The Question had returned with a new data disk.

"Oh good. It's a party again."

"Lexcorp satalites had been monitoring other planets in our galaxy for several months. One day, a strange gravitational anomoly apeared. That anaomoly is the same one that was discovered by N.A.S.A. to be in our solar system a few weeks ago. Unity, no doubt. When Luthor investigated further, he found that a planet near the gravitational anomoly, which had before then been completely barren, had a highly advanced industrial society."

I walk up to Batman and hand the disk to him.

"The Unity resurected a planet and evolved it into a civilization comparable to our own on a technological level in a few days."

Imra watched the group break up and cme nback together again. Her eyes seeing but not registering as her mind felt out every area.

"I hope they don't mind. 'What they don't know can't hurt them' and all that. Their brains aren't trained to pick up undetectable scans."
She felt out each and everyone of them. X ran to another roof and fell down screaming the Unity washing over his mind. She glanced sideways at Kyle the Unity was working on him to. However he'd already said no.
As for her whenever she'd felt a licker she'd quickly shoved it away. She felt always on the defensive. Imra looked at Garth intently.
"If the unity hasn't given up on Kyle, then why on Garth? Are his powers not needed? The Red X, his powers ar minimal and the struggle I sens in him is different than what I sense in Kyle. Almost as if.."

"Right behind you."
Imra felt everyone jump, the adrenaline spike in the group brought her out of her thoughts. She smiled. Batman enjoyed it, she could sense pleasure akin to..she stopped her thought before it formed fully.

She looked towards Gotham.

"Well, I take it there was nothing in Luthor's files that said how we can stop this thing?" Garth asked the Question.
Now that all the heroes were finally together again, it was time to start planning out a strategy...one that would be known by the Unity as soon as Garth heard it.

I thought for a few moments, during this time, I heard X mumble about something to himself. Either whatever caused him to black out turned him mentally insane, or he's talking to the telepath.

"Is there any way to figure out whether this might be a threat to us, or perhaps that it is Unity's headquarters?"

 

[The Question]

"The anomoly? For all I know it could be the Unity it's self. There wasn't too much, but there may be something I missed. Take the disk and look at it in the cave."

Garth was really trying to work with Red X in this infiltration mission, but he kept making it difficult to do so with his comments to Imra. And Garth couldn't rightly sit bye while some jerk tried to flirt with his woman.

That was certainly a large intuitive leap. Latient psychic, perhaps? Should investigate later.

"My ring's cooler," Kyle mummbled to no one inparticular. He wasn't even sure anyone heard it over their squabbling. He walked to the edge of the roof, peering down to the streets below. He wanted to do something, tear this thing apart before it destroyed the world, and drove him insane. Patience was never one of his better virtues, but he was trying. They had the damn disk again, it was time to bust some heads.

Kyle glanced back at the group. Something didn't feel right, and it wasn't the just the alien force trying to attack his mind. Something told him to act on his own, but he ignored. He just got back, and had no idea what he was up against. They needed to stick together.

Kyle kicked a small chunk of loose concrete off of the roof, and watched it fall to the ground below.
