These kids were popping up out of nowhere, apparently the Unity's sales pitch was getting better. Slade put out his cigarette butt and looked at the second new comer.

"You didn't come back to finish the job, did ya little tyke?"

In exchange for amnesty, and your aid during this crisis, I will, with the assisstance of these Green Lanterns build a machine capable of SAFELY cryogenically freezing anyone you so choose. Thus, a large group of Unified can be incapacitated without fear of death. As you heroes seem to have a strange inability to finish off certain madmen."

All we need to start is the STAR Labs turret, and the aid of the Lanterns for precise adjustments.

The idea is possible, after all, he did the same thing for his wife for years. The idea is solid, but it's HIM that I'm having slight doubts with.

"Alright, just remember this; one false move, and you'll end up like Joker here."

Suddenly, the comm in my cowl buzzes.

“Batman, this is Nightwing. I have the Scarecrow in custody and he has told me some interesting things...”

Dick. Thank God. For a second I thought he was lost somewhere...

"Meet us at Gotham State Penententary. Either lock Crane in a cell or bring him with you."

Slade chuckled at the kids response, "You got balls kid, Ill give you that. Welcome to the team."

X lent against the near by wall "So what’s our next move? Do we attack Gothan and the resistance again... because from the looks of things that didn’t work so well last time”

I can see the look of hurt on Kara's face as she mentions Bart, but there's no time for being comforting now, the world is in peril.

"I'm going to go back to Gotham, with any luck Bruce will still be there. Good luck to the both of you."

I leave the Fortress and fly out to Gotham City. The place doesn't look much different from the sky, but I know better. I find Bruce, three Green Lanterns, the Joker and Mr. Freeze near the harbor, they seemed to be negotiating, except for the Joker, who was handcuffed, and looking quite pissed off. Serves him right.

I lower myself to the ground, landing behind them, but still allowing them to see me. This won't be easy.

"I come in peace."

Kyle looked at Superman as he landed, then around to the rest of the gathered group.

"This has to be breaking some kind of fire ordinance."

"Guy, why in the hell are you wearing blue?"

"I really don't know" I answer honestly.

I look up as Superman lands.

"Ring," I start. "What the hell is going on here?"

The ring buzz's into life.

I think back to when Hal's ring split in two, returning me to the Green Lantern Corps.

'After prolonged use, Ring has begun to Deteriorate'

'Correct. Ring no longer focuses Willpower energy, but is instead feeding off of local signal'

I stare at the ring. "In ENGLISH!"

'Ring focuses the power of order. Reason. Logic. Ring now uses the untapped potential of Subject Guy Gardner's mind.'

"Shut up Kyle!" I yell. I like the kid, but i'm angry at the moment. "Ring... explain the difference this will cause in constructs"

'Ring is now powered by Logic, Order and Control. Subject Guy Gardner does not enforce these qualities often. As such an unlimited resevoir is within subjects head. However, constructs will be weaker due to inexperience of subject. Subject will be faster, below that of dimensional speed force, but above most everyone else.'

"WHAT!" I'm yelling again. "Thats B.S.! I'm getting rid of this peice of junk!"

I try to rip the ring from my finger. Its fused to my skin. This bites.

"Ring," I calmly begin. "Explain local signal."

'Ring is focussed on Logic, Order and Control. These elements are present in the Source signal being broadcast by party known as the Unity.'

"Ring, does this mean you're with the unity?"

'Ring identifies that Unity are following the mandate set out by the Guardians. Peace would be evident if Unity succeed in mission. However, Ring serves subject Guy Gardner, and would not work against Guy Gardner,'

I radio to the GPD that I have captured the Scarecrow and to dispatch someone here immediately to pick him up. Bruce wants me to meet him at the Gotham State Penitentiary. After what Crane told me about this Unity, I need to get my butt over there now. I fire my grapple up into the dark, cold night and head towards the Penitentiary.

The world went on, moving in an unnatural rhythm. People walked back and forth as if keeping time to an unspoken program. Their minds complacent and without worry.
“ Is it really so bad? They don’t have to worry about anything. Murder and crimes are non-existent.

Snap out of it Imra, you’re letting your mind slip into theirs.”

Each Unified mind was a portal Imra could slip into at any time and she could feel the pressure and compliance growing stronger.

“It’s the closest thing to peace I’ve ever felt.”

In the distance she could feel that Superman was free. She smiled they were forming a plan and Batman had wrangled the bomb’s activation switch from the Joker.
A burst of energy washed over her. The Unity was nearby and it was strong, very strong apparently it was being broadcast from Guy Gardner. She could feel his frantic brainwaves as he tried to figure out what was happening to him.
She turned her attention to her fellow Legionnaires. Brainy was working away oblivious to the world and Kent….he was gone. She quickly scanned the minds of the heroes to find out where he was.
He’d been pulled back into the timestream. Could the same thing have happened to Garth?
She bowed her head, her hand pressed against the cool smooth window. The Question riffled through files, the paper shuffled softly in the background.

”This is so wrong, we shouldn’t even be here. No weakness, no weakness. I am a Legionnaire.”

"Luthor didn't have much on this'unity'. But he did have one thing that worries me. About a year ago, Lexcorp satalites picked up gravitational anomolies near a planet a few light years away. The gravitational anomolies match a phenomina that is currently taking place in our solar system, and apeared shortly before the invasion. When they took a closer look, they found the planet, which beforehand was completely barren, had lush vegetation and what looked like a relatively advanced industrial civilization."

I turn around and face Saturn Girl.

" I can read minds, and peoples intent. I can't read the Unity without risking having myself pulled in. As for future, it's a time paradox. Even when we were there the history we knew was shifting and changing. Kid Flash was able to distingush this, because of his time here in the 'past'."

She paused trying to explain it.

"It's like the ocean, the things that happen out at sea effect how the waves hit the beach. But if you're the beach you don't know this, so each time a wave hit's it molds you without you having knowledge of the Ocean actually changing. Kid Flash was exempt from that. So when the time wave caused by Hal Jordan's bringing back the dead, it changed the history we knew. There is no "Unity" in our history books." She took a breath.

"Our knowledge of history ended yesterday when we arrived. We're in history now. The present is making it's self around us."

"I suppose I understand. A common physical theory is that there is no furture or past. Simply an ever changing now. So, every time you and your freinds come back here, you're different because you represent only one of billions of possible outcomes, and sometimes our actions alter the most likely outcome at the time."

I stand up.

I catch Clark from the corner of my eye. He looks peacefull enough. I take a mental check of my tools...yes, the Kryptonite ring is still there, just in case.

"Nice to see you back, Superman. I take it from your lack of black wear, that you're back on our side."
