The "World of Heroes" DC RPG Season IV Signup/OOC Thread

Thanks for all the feedback guys. I'm still trying to fine tune Kyle and get familiar with DC. Up until this point all I had was cartoons and a few TPB's mostly GL, but now my town finally has a comic shop, with a real supply of DC books (Instead of just 7 different Superman titles like the bookstore in the mall.) As soon as I get paid Saturday, I'm grabbing JLA #0 and #1, and I just started collecting the new Ion series. Plus the guy who runs the store was teling me about a new Batman series by Frank Miller and Jim Lee, which is also going to be a must.

Now, bring on Season V

Be careful with the Miller/Lee combo. Very mixed reaction. You definitly can't go wrong with Paul Dinis' Detective Comics or Morrisons' Batman that are currently in the works.

Pick up on some trades if you get the chance. If you need some requests, feel free to ask.

I can't wait for season five either. I hope to get my Dr.Fate approved. This is my most controversial and most beloved idea to date.

No, I am pretty sure there was a huge post by her that said, although she likes the idea, it wouldn't work at this point in time. Please Purple, I love the idea, I really do. Submit it to the Ultimate DC RPG. It would work wonders there.

Don't bother picking up All Star Batman and Robin; it sucks. And if you are just getting into Batman comics then do not start off there especially...not just because it is out of continuity but cause it sucks.

Alright, P-Man I appreciate the trust.
*breathes deeply..no pressure..no pressure...*

Alright, I am more than willing to listen to your story idea, from what I've gathered you'd like make Dr. Fate a new person, one who's never been seen in the DCU before, correct?

That is the issue isn't it?
To an extent a certain amount of creative license is needed to evolve the RPG. This evolution propels it forward, not just in the gameplay it's self but also in the actual story telling. I totally agree with that, however as gamemaster I have to look past my own ideas and take into account what the players have expressed without going to drastic measures to decide.

This RPG was started with the purpose to be a place to create stories for mainstream DC Comics, over time the ‘rules’ have changed as have the ideas, but we’ve always kept the arcs and the characterizations in the RPG as close to the source as we could while still moving forward. What we are feeling now is the extreme growing pains of an RPG that has not changed and shifted as much as the comics it was based off of have. Many people are trying to stretch their wings within it, without hindering other players characters or ideas, that have not yet reached the level of wanting drastic changes.

The majority of the players keep their characters very close to the source from which they come or had come from, not very many changes have been made. For the few who did want change and the ability to play around with alternative ideas the One Universe RPG, The Ultimate DC RPG and the Multiverse RPG were created to satiate the desires of those few ready to take a leap into new character development.

On a personal level, I am more than willing to consider it further and perhaps even approve it, given the very negative feedback it has received. However, because of the large amount of backlash the idea has received I do not think that at this time it’s conducive to stretch the RPG farther along in its continuing evolution by going the route of self-created characters taking center stage or taking on the mantle of an already established character.

This is not only a upholding of the ‘rules’ we’ve all inherited from the beginning of this RPG, but also a reflection of the present mentality of the players within the RPG. This RPG is simply not ready for that leap yet, it is not yet treated as it’s own DC Comics continuity, merely it is treated as an almost completely enclosed extension of the DC Comics universe. A gifting of the present characters within the present DCU, nothing more and nothing less. In the future I truly hope we can move the storytelling of the RPG along and perhaps seperately from the DC Comics Universe it was based on.

This is not meant to constrain you as at this present time I have, of my own, a player-created character I am using as a plot device. However she will not be taking on the mantle of any established character, nor will she be a primary character, rather just an NPC. The line is this; no player-created characters may be allowed as primary characters, merely as supporting cast and plot devices. If at any time concern is expressed over a particular player created it will be reviewed then and a decision will be made, if it involves a GM, the decision will naturally be decided by the other GM’s with no favoritism or selectism will shown.

Purple Man I hope for you I have made the right decision and explained myself. If not feel free to ask questions. I really hope I make some sort of sense since it's late and I'm rather tired.

For everyone else I’d like to consider this matter closed. No comments please towards Purple Man about the matter.

Oh, yeah. See above, Purp.

I don't know what and won't get approved, but I know I have the right to submit an application.

Fate will decide the rest.

*Sighs*

Ok, but I think you got the answer already.

And if its an application that is for someone other than:
Kent Nelson, Inza Nelson, Hector Hall, Jared Stevens, Eric Strauss, or Linda Strauss to be Fate, the GMs are all in agreement that it, at this point in time it is not an appropriate move for this RPG.

He was cool. He was different. Ankhs isntead of a helmet, etc...I think more Fates should go in that direction rather than the usual cape 'n' helmet route.

I understand. Though I will involve Hector Hall to a great degree, he will not be the one wearing the helm of Nabu.

My application will be up within the hour. Fate will decide the rest.

*sigh*

Jesus. Ok, let him do it, and then just let it get denied. I don't think there is any fate when the GM's have told you and decided no.

No, either Twylight, Master Bruce or I will decide. And as has been stated, unless it is Kent, Inza, Hector, Eric, Linda, or even Jared, your character will not be approved in this RPG.

My work will speak for itself. Then it will be on your hands to deny.

If it doesn't get accepted I get exposed for the hack that I am, and will no longer subject you to my craziness.

If it gets approved, Fate is on my side, and this RPG will witness something it hasn't seen before.

I really think it can go either way. Like flipping a coin. I call heads.

I know, I was posting in response to him. Being my normal rule toting, abusive a-hole of a GM. Ya know, cause someone's gotta.

I think the idea has merit, but the rules state that the player must choose a pre-existing DCU character as their character. I'd say it'd be interesting if Purp played Hector in this story, and show (from Hall's POV) how he deals with the new Fate.

BUT, of course, I'm not a GM anymore. So my opinion means Nightwing.

That's a really good idea. Kinda like your fourth-person perspective.

Ok, not to be rude, but I think it a little funny that you, Purp, think that a force of Nature is controling you acceptance. The GM's have apparently spoke and said no. Sumbit your idea to the UDRPG and get it accepted there.

Yeah, kinda.

BTW, I can't think of a closing post for J'onn, so.... that's all.
