Well, this app isn't as good as the one I originally had, but my laptop will probably still be being repaired for the next week. I'll put up the older, better, sample post when I get it back.
DC RPG Season V Application
Screen Name: Harlekin
Character you would like to play: Henry King, Jr. aka Brainwave
Powers: Brainwave has a variety of mental powers. Chief among those powers is telepathy. He is able to dominate many minds at once and cause people too see illusions or even have complete control over them. Proximity seems key to the effectiveness of this power, even though it has no defined range. He has mentioned how even strong wills could not resist him when he was right next to them. A notable feat of this was when he was able to overcome the Wisdom of Solomon and made Captain Marvel return to the form of Billy Batson from a short distance away. While many telepaths filter out the thoughts of others, Brainwave allows them to flow freely through his mind.
Lesser used powers include telekinesis, the creation of realistic three-dimensional holograms, and the ability to fire blasts of psionic energy.
Group alignment: Infinity, Inc.? Yeah, didn't think so.
Three reasons why you have chosen that character:
1) Unlike the other legacy holders that were involved with Infinity, Inc. Brainwave was the son of a bad guy, as opposed to one of the good guys. Similar to Victor Mancha from Runaways, Brainwave handled that concept about two decades earlier in comics. The clash between a legacy of evil and a desire to good has captivated many over the years, and the same holds true for Brainwave.
2) He's got a past in a variety of things that can greatly benefit the heroes and villains in this RPG, or bite them in the ass. He's basically a danger to everybody and nobody really trusts him. Neither foe nor friend.
3) Telepaths are usually quite restricted and often try and keep themselves in check with their mental powers. In his recent incarnation Brainwave is the kind of guy that just doesn't care. He's perfectly fine with reading somebody else's mind, and won't hesitate to backhand you if you think something bad about him. It's a change I like.
Write two complete sentences using proper English grammar explaining what you plan to do with the character you've chosen (i.e. What are your goals? Will you be doing anything different with the character than is usually seen?):
It's time to really delve into what kind of person Brainwave is. Hero? Villain? At least I hope to take him away from the image certain writers have perpretated of him as just a madman, raving at the mouth about Jade. I'm also going to bring him up a few notches in the world, and let his presence be known in this RPG. Question is of course, is he going to be one of the guys revitalizing the JSA, or is he going to bring back the Society. Good question. I'm not answering it.
How many times do you intend on posting a DAY IN the RPG: As much as needed.
Color and font: "Henry King Jr., Brainwave."
Do you have an Instant Messenger?: Yes, anyone that wants to have it can PM me.
How did you find out about this game?: I'm an oldie from season II.
Sample post:
"Tell me, Henry, about your father."
"You want to know about my father, doctor? Are you certain?" Brainwave replied to the doctor's query as he lay on the sofa, looking at the man sitting behind the desk.
"Positive."
"My father was, simply put, a bad man." he said with a hint of a smirk.
"And how do you think that reflects on yourself, Henry?"
"Are you asking me if you think I'm a bad person, doctor? I thought you'd be more qualified to tell me that."
"You know this institute is here to help you understand yourself Henry. Only you hold the answers."
"I hold the key to all my questions, isn't that right, doctor?"
"Precisely."
The smirk that rested on Henry's face grew a little wider as he leaned back, putting his hands behind his head.
"Y'know, doc, I think I might just be a bad person after all." and his grin grew ever wider.
