The "World of Heroes" DC RPG Season V Signup/OOC Thread

Twylight Knight posted as Erradicator yesterday. It was in the same post as Zauriel.

Only reason I've really not posted as Dick is because I'm damned confused as to what's going on around him. But I can try and at least get a response up to Supergirl, I guess, just to make sure I don't lose Nightwing.

DC RPG Season V Application

Screen Name: Red X

Character you would like to play:
رأسالغول

Powers: Possesses no super-human powers, but he has remarkable strength and stamina. He is a skilled hand-to-hand combatant and a master swordsman. He also has an intellect that rivals Batman, a vast fortune, several lifetimes’ worth of skills, resources and contacts. And not forgetting he commands a small army of followers

Group your character is aligned with (if applicable): Leader of the League of Assassins.

Three reasons why you have chosen that character:

1)
I miss playing the guy he was some much fun during my tenure as Ra’s.

2) I want to “change it” and go in a different direction with the character than I did previously.

3) I've been throwing a few ideas around with some RPer and while nothings in stone yet, Ra's is set to have a central role.

Write two complete sentences using proper English grammar explaining what you plan to do with the character you've chosen (i.e. What are your goals? Will you be doing anything different with the character than is usually seen?): I hope to tie up a few loose ends story wise. As well as that I want to explore the character more than I did last time.

How many times do you intend on posting a DAY IN the RPG: As many as needed.

Color and font you plan on using for your characters speech (Might not be applicable but it makes the roster pretty):
If it ain’t broke…

Do you have an Instant Messenger? Which one and what is your screen name? Yes, MSN; [email protected]

How did you find out about this game, Recruitment thread/word of post/seeing the RPG OOC/IC thread? I beat the information out a snitch.

Please provide a small sample post with original content in the style that you plan to write your character in:

Lex strolls back into the Lexcorp towers by himself. Mercy is standing guard outside the door.

Lex opens a bottle of scotch and pours a drink. He holds the glass up and sees his reflection in the glass. He says,
"Here's to you...you pulled it off once again."

Lex then senses he is not alone as he says,
"Hello Ras."

“
I hope you don’t mind, but it seemed fitting that our partnership end as it began.” He noticed the bottle of scotch in Luthors grasp. “Perhaps wine is a better suited to celebrate such occasions.” Ra’s poured two glasses and passed one to Luthor as he approached him.

“Did you know that the toast originated from the Vikings? Warring tribes would drink from the same chalice because they feared their cups had been poisoned.” Ra’s leaned in close and raised his glass.

“A simple tap is a sign of trust.” Ra’s eye’s showed a hit of treachery and he sipped his glass, in response Luthor did the same.

“To the matter at hand then, my scientists have produced 25 gallons of the virus and they also managed to improve it as we agreed. It will now come into affect immediately and kills those infected within a matter of hours. Once my relocation to Washington is complete I will have the cargo transported to you, in the mean time perhaps this will interest you.” Lex stretched his hand into one of the draws of his desk and pulled a small lead box, which he presented to Ra’s. Ra’s opened the box to reveal a sample of the virus, and a smile found its way to his face.

“I believe this concludes our business.” Luthor’s hand crawled under the table and rested upon the panic button. He gave Ra’s a reassuring smile that everything was fine.

“Not quite.”Ra’s pocketed the box then cleared his throat and began to pace around Luthor’s desk. “Tell me Alexander have you ever read the Bible?

“Once, why do you ask?”

“It has always fascinated me how it is regarded as such a hallowed text and yet humanity disregards its teachings, tossing them aside in favor of their own selfish pursuits. They are willing to sin against the laws in which they believe.”

“Is their any point to th…?”

Before the last word could leave his mouth, Ra’s lunged forward with the virus and stabbed Luthor in the shoulder and he stumbled to the floor.

“Do you know what your sin is Alexander…Greed. You had the worship of the people, their respect and allegiance. But that was not enough for the King of Metropolises. You wanted more didn’t you?”He paused. “It’s almost ironic; you cower and hide within this castle in the sky from the very people you wish to rule.”

Ra’s felt an immense sense of power as he stood over the convulsion body of Luthor. He didn’t feel any remorse in his twisted mind for what he had done. Ra’s had performed unspeakable acts throughout his life, but he would always try to keep a sense of honor. In the past those he had deceived had been innocents, but this was different.

Lex’s body began to contract and his hand scrambled to his chest.Ra’s knelt down beside him.
“Do you know what amused me the most Alexander?” He spoke as if he expected an answer.

“Did you honestly think I would let you have a place in my new empire? A petty street urchin who believes himself to be something more.” Hissed Ra’s. “As I speak my men are acquiring the canisters of the Genesis Strain from your laboratory and within the day it will be leaked into Metropolis’s water supply. Your kingdom is mine Alexander. Metropolis will be the first to fall. The world’s greatest city will be a beacon of a new age.”

Ra’s gave Luthor one last glace before he fell unconscious then draped his cloak back over his shoulders and exited the room.

Why is there such a rush to kick people off the roster? Sure, once in a while someone points out a couple updates that need to be made to the roster, but this is just getting unnecessarily trigger-happy with the EDIT function, IMO. It's never come across as a problem or anything in the past; why give it such strict guidelines now? Of course, if it's concerning a main character that's needed for an important storyline to continue, like Batman or Superman in most cases, and their players don't respond to PMs within a reasonable time limit, than new players should be sought out.

But if it's only concerning the Atomic Skull, the Joker, Eiling, or someone else who's not really involved with the current grand plot, and instead just taking their time doing their own self-contained arc, than there shouldn't be such a rush to have them kicked off the island.

Then it would be a double standard.

We can't expect one set of rules for one person's character and then another set of rules for another character.

We're hardly edit-happy. We're just keeping the players updated with those who have fallen behind. It makes it much easier than sending out PM's to each induvidual.

Red X is added to the roster.

Yea it's getting crazy. So many things have been going on lately:

- A lot of people fighting....30 DLs? I could've sworn only 30 DLs came down to Earth.
- Orin summoning Pontus, fighting Darkseid with a lot of chaos to the scenery and background and such.
- Supes coming back battling this new Darkseid.
- Darkseid squaring off against this new Darkseid.

And of course, small things that keep popping up in the middle of others. I didn't include it all, just what's happened recently...but if you include what happened before too...a lot of crap to keep up with.

And I see where you're coming from, and I am torn. True, it would be a double standard, but I also see where Spike is coming from.
If the character is not a major one and/or is not involved in any arc then the poster could be given some leeway, depending on their situation.

One question though since I'm apparently out of the loop...is it still a 2 week limit for not posting or has it changed?

How come this guy who applied for Plastic Man never got looked at really? Sure, he didn't have the post requirement, but...lately a lot of people have gotten in without the post requirement.

I think it woulda been awesome if he was accepted, but I never understood why no one gave it recognition; except for JRK but he isn't a GM.

I wasn't a GM then, and by the time I was appointed as one...I forgot about his app. :o

Still, he hasn't been around since then, so maybe it was for the best. If he started coming around again and showed a genuine interest I'd be more than happy to accept a Plas for this RPG. Plastic Man iz teh mozt awsomest hearo!!1

If I were a GM I would PM him asking if he was still interested. I think that he woulda been great.

Aside from that, also...I've noticed for a while it says on the roster "(Teams and Team logos coming soon)"...I recall Twy mentioning that a while back but never saw the light of day really. I wouldn't mind working on that...I do several things with photoshop anyway; it would be fun. I just need more information about that.

Wie: Are we suppose to do seperate posts for multiple chars? I thought as long as you seperated them, they'd be all right. or are you talking about the fact that they're in close proximity of each other?

Trusty: Are you wanting Z's help bringing Orin back? PM me if you want it (course, if he ain't comin back then don't worry about it :D )

Check the roster it's been like that since the beginning of the season.

If there is a 'situation' the poster can inform the GM's.

Honestly, I'm frustrated with ya'll. This system was put into place, because ya'll were fussing about players not posteing and how we hadn't been keeping it up to date.

Now that we come up with a system that will make it easier for us. *Roster days are every Weds for sure, and that's when we review those who haven't posted*
Ya'll still complain.

I have a life outside this RPG and I am tired, tired of trying to be the sweet, nice, understanding GM who mediates all the issues and walks a thin line of acceptance.

LT mentioned I should stop being wishy-washy, so I am.

Suck it up. :cmad: :cmad: :cmad:

Red X I expect you to ignore LT, if either of you does anything remotely like what occured a few pages back I will report you to the Moderators.

And if anything like that happens ever again with anyone, expect the same treatment.

There...

P.S. If you're planned a coup, let me know and I'll save you the trouble of it.

It's a free board, honestly I don't remember seeing that application.
If you feel strongly about it no one is tying your hands so you can't PM him yourself.

Ease up there, twy. :(

All I was saying was that if I were a GM I would. Why would I go and PM the guy if the GMs themselves didn't like his application? That's what I meant by it. I wasn't going to PM him, get his hopes up, and have it possibly turn out the GMs aren't satisfied with what he presented.

I brought it up cause it seemed like no one was aware of it. Either way, I wouldn't PM since I'm not a GM; so why would I do something like that. All I was doing was bringing it up.

Also, could you explain the Team and Team logos thing? You tried to before but was kind of "hush hush" about it. If you haven't had time to work on it, I'll go ahead and work on it; like those times I got bored and started toying around with photoshop and made all those mini-DC chars.

You ****ers wanted rules. Now you ****ers got rules. Don't ever poke the sleeping bear.

There isn't a secret to the Logos or anything, or even the teams.

The idea was that whomever wanted a particular team, they'd set it up. I had hoped they would form early on, but for whatever reason they didn't. :csad:

The teams can start up anytime but if we want personalized Banners for each one we need to know who's on what team.

Wie: Are we suppose to do seperate posts for multiple chars? I thought as long as you seperated them, they'd be all right. or are you talking about the fact that they're in close proximity of each other?

There's no problem with putting them together. It's just sometimes easy to overlook the second character's post, like this time.

Honestly, if anything, the rules were fine, back when it was simply "after 2 weeks of not posting without prior warning, your character is up for grabs," instead of outright gone. Why was that changed?

And as for the whole "prior warning thing," some of us do post warnings (I know I did, but I was still removed anyway), but as has been just pointed out, GM's are only human and can miss those posts. So if they do miss them, is a warning PM really too much to ask? If the player has an excuse that was overlooked in the OOC thread, then it can be cleared up right as rain through PM. It would certainly clear up those type of issues that have already been questioned by trusty mentioning his combination of Aquaman and Tempest posts, without any fuss.

Much easier? You can send a single PM to all of those players at once.

Regardless of how it's done, I'm glad the rule is being enforced.

I also like the idea of listing those on the warning list in the thread. If only because it gives us other players a chance to let the GM's know if someone doesn't belong on the list because of a post in either thread. (Because it's possible someone might be away for a couple of days and not see the list or pm until it's too late).

True, but that's where my question of why the rule was changed from being "up for grabs" into simply being "gone," comes in. If the GM wants to post the whole list in the OOC thread, fine (but a PM does help grab your attention if you simply log in for a couple minutes, and don't have enough time to check the OOC thread, since that's been my exact situation over the past few weeks; a PM definitely would've brought the situation straight to my attention and allowed me the chance to clear it up before I ended up being removed from the roster), but it's the actual threat of being outright removed from the game that's irking me.

I don't really see the problem with the original rule, and I can't think of a reason why it could've been changed to this unnecessarily stricter iteration. It had all of the same benefits of the current rule, but none of the pressure or displeasing-ness of seeing your character's name missing from the roster, when all you were doing was simply waiting for a good time to make your character's entrance, or start a new arc for yourself.

We changed it to one week at the beginning of the season and there was never a 'PM' rule.

We just did it as a courtesy, but, from experience, it didn't really change anything. It took 45 minutes just to get that list sorted, if one of the AGM's wants to send out PM's they can.

edit: and I just realized how much like Dew I sound...:csad:

From my past experience as a GM, a PM helped just as often as it didn't, as far I can remember. And despite PM's "not really changing anything," it certainly couldn't hurt for what little effort it takes to type one up and send it to those people on the list all at once.

Because of JRK, to be blunt. :o

If it'll make you happy, we'll PM them.

Since this whole decision is going down so well, consider it terminated.

It was my idea, I implimented it and so taking my own advice I am removing myself from the issue. The AGM's have control of this issue now.
They can do as they please.

Is there anything else?
