The "World of Heroes" DC RPG Season V Signup/OOC Thread

I recently got IMed by Twy, saying that she's very sick and has to take finals, so she won't be on soon.

I, for one, hope she gets better soon, takes those finals down to Chinatown to kick their uppity asses, and comes back real soon. :chappy::up:

I second that. Feel better soon and pass those finals, Twy.

Then you can come back to what's really important. :woot:

After watching the newest episode of Supernatural, a thought just occured to me that I wanted to bring up and see what you guys think:
What if Mxyzptlk decided to do the nicest thing that he could think of (or something similar that would get the same result), and we spent a whole season (even if it's just a short one) with our characters in some alternate reality where they live happy lives without the responsibilities of their superhero or supervillain careers? A sort of "What if?" reality where perhaps Bruce Wayne's parents never died and he spends all his time on the golf course and womanizing; Clark is a farmer out in Kansas, married to Lois, and is a successful novelist on the side; Barbara Gordon was never crippled and her father gets to watch her grow up, and Gotham City isn't the hellhole that he's been dealing with for years in our regular RPG's reality; Joe Martin is a popular film director and wouldn't dream of touching drugs; the Mirror Master was never abandoned by his parents and grew up to be a respectable member of society; the Joker never had "that one bad day" that made him who he is; etc, etc, for example.

Of course, certain character's lives would have to intertwine to make it all a cohesive story, (ie: maybe Clark is human in this reality and he meets Bruce Wayne or Diana Prince), and it would all unravel somehow (something forces these characters back into their rightful lot in life, whether or not they've got their powers, training, whatever), and by the end of the season things would go back to normal, and Mxy (or whatever is the cause of it all) would undo everything and bring everyone back to the regular DC RPG Universe.

I think it would be a very good opportunity for us to do something that's never been done in a comic based RPG before (at least not one I've been a witness to) and really do something fantastic with our characters' personalities and get a glimpse at what could have been.
Thoughts?

Why put a spoiler tag? Should I do the same since I'm responding to it?

The idea of Mxy altering realty and such is a really cool idea. And while your further ideas on the subject were good, I have some on my own about it. Perhaps it could occur as well, but I think him changing it to resemble the Silver Age would be funny/interesting too. You know, when I was talking about "what if" we had an RPG dedicated to the campy times of the DCU (where everything was more jolly and the crimes were more comical and light).
Better safe than sorry. :O

I put a spoiler tag cuz everyone uses them nowadays. It's fun for some reason. :p

Intresting..........[BLACKOUT]House Of Mxy![/BLACKOUT]

Intresting..........[BLACKOUT]House Of Mxy![/BLACKOUT]

That's exactly what I was thinking. :D

The idea does have potential, but it does sound House of M-ish. Still, we'd be able to do it much better than House of M(an that was a crappy mini). Of that I have no doubt.
Only problem is that everybody would have to sign up on this though for it to work. And with posters either in the midst of arcs, or waiting to begin their arcs I don't see that happening any time soon.

Still, it'd be good to keep in mind. Maybe not for an entire season, but maybe just for one large arc during a season.

I'm back! ^_^

I'll try to get a post up sometime this weekend Wieg, but I've got 2 contact sheet's due on Monday and not a single picture taken for them >.<.

Also I'm picking up my mac today. ^_^

No worries. Good to have you back. :D

And another Mac user! You will not be disappointed.

Please let me know if my latest Joker post was suitably skin-crawling... :joker:

...

I don't know if I want to read it, now. :(

I'm not so far! ^_^

Sadly...I still need to buy PS CE3 and Office for Mac before it becomes useful..and I've got to get it hoooked up to my internet *which as of typing is not wireless*

I do hope you'll have time to tutor me through my various issues. ;)

I'm still disconcerted about not having Program Files I can get into O.O

I like the silver agey idea. Do something funny and cheerful until someone gets murdered in some terrible fashion showing that they can't escape from realism.

Could even call it "The Gilded Age" whether its silver or gold, it would only look that way on the surface.

I could also tie it into my final Mister Miracle and Dr.Fate post. Since LT left I haven't been sure exactly what to do, but I've had some ideas that could work well with this.

I've got to admit, not having Program Files is weird for me too. It's not so bad when all you have to do to install something is copy the file into the Applications folder. But it still feels odd not actually running an uninstall program. Especially when the application actually does go through an uninstall.

And of course I'll help. :woot:

MB, which Spidey 3 poster is your avatar from?

So glad to have my "reveal" I guess you can say over with. I was getting so tired using different words to describe the guy like "being" and such.

Also, guitarsingerguy, are you still in the hospital? I know it may seem wierd to ask if you are still, but you did PM me before while in the hospital so I figured you could still view the forums.

Wieg...do you use Boot Camp or Parallels?

Because my laptop doesn't become useful until I load on Office for Mac and PS, but I'd also like Windows on there so I can use Publisher.

You can't put the actual Windows software on there.

That's why it is a Mac. You have to use Mac stuff; for the most part. My cousin could go into more detail (happens to have a forum account but rarely uses), but he's at work at the moment. He hate Macs with a passion cause of stuff like that. He is high up there in the computer/software or whatever you like to call it business at his job. He would know so much more than me. But I recalled something like that being said once.

I use BootCamp, but I tried the Parallels beta. The beta worked ok. And apparently, the new version of Paralles runs 'within' the Mac. Meaning it doesn't have windows run in a window, you can run windows apps inside the Mac.
