The "World of Heroes" DC RPG Season V Signup/OOC Thread

*smacks the back of Lan's head and hands him a mop and nucket*

Clean it up! :cmad:

You still need to clean it off him, 'cause he'll track it all over.

End of Season Awards!

BEST HERO
Hmmm. MB's Superman. He did a great job bringing the guy back from the dead, and I'm proud to have played with him.

BEST HEROINE
Can this award even go to anyone but Twy? Honestly? If this was her last hurrah, as she has hinted, I'll be sad to see her go. Considering she's the reason I play these games, and these games are the only reason I still peruse the Hype... If this was your last dance as Dinah Twy, it's been a hell of a run. Let's all hope she finds time to grace us with her presence again next season. :yay:

BEST VILLAIN
Darkseid by far. Dude nuked the rest of the Kryptonian population. Bastard. Great job LT.

BEST DEVELOPED CHARACTER

Byrd's Bart. He's really expanded the character in this RPG and I look forward to continuing play with him.

BEST FIGHT
Darksied versus EVERYONE. Cmon no one was left out.

BEST STORY ARC
I really liked Twy's back up story. Great to see what happened while Dinah was gone.

BEST DUO

Have to toot my own horn on this one. My Roy with MB's Dick made for the ultimate buddy movie feel. I'm sad to see him let go of Dick (I'm sure he is too. He loves Dick.) I'll have to find someone new to abuse next season. Watch out Eddie, Conner's the likely target.

BEST RIVALRY

Titans versus Deathstroke. Such a classic rivalry, and Ferret, GSG and MB made it a lot of fun. Not to mention that SF's Slade was twisted.

BEST COMEDIC POST

"Hushup, Daisy Dukes. And YOU..."

The thug was sweating profusely. A wide look of terror in his eyes as he saw Roy's malicious grin. "...wh... wait... you were the first Robin?" He asked looking back at Dick. "When did you grow a set? Everyone in the biz thought you were gay, what with the yellow cape and pixie boots an' all."

Roy had to stop himself from laughing, and fought hard to keep a look of grim determination on his face.

"Back off my kool-aid, b**ch. Its MY job to make fun of his "FABULOUS" choices in attire, and noone elses. Now..."

Roy grabbed the arrows and bent them a full ninety degrees upward. Approaching police sirens were drowned out by the scream.

"Who are you working for?"

The thugs eyes started rolling back in his head as he was about to pass out from the pain. Roy slapped him hard across the face to stop that. "You don't get out of it that easily. WHO?"

Blood drizzled out of the corner of the pusher's mouth as he had bit his tongue and poured out when he opened it to speak in a sickly painful tone. "...buh bh bh bloc buh blockbuster."

Roy looked back at Dick, "Well, this is your town. I assume you know where he is."

"As for you. You can pass out now, but first let me take care of these."

Roy grabbed the arrows once again and savagely ripped them back out through the muscle. The thug gave one last scream of pain and collapsed in a heap on the ground.

"Now lets, book o' child of the spooky one. The cops are comin."

As they went back to the rooftops, Roy looked at Dick.

"'Everyone in the biz thought you were gay.' Thats f**king classic! Bwahahahaha!"
I still bring that one up in arguments on MSN with MB.

Epilogue

Central City, Missouri
22 Hours Until Now

I walk up the steps and knock on the screen door.
It only takes a few seconds for the door to swing open.

"You're 23 seconds late..."

I smile as I look through the screen door. One of the more annoying qualities of time travellers

"Grandma Iris, I..."

She smiles as she unlatches the screen and beckons me in.

"Come on in, Bart."

I follow her into the living room. Almost all of the room's wall space is filled with pictures. There's Grandpa Barry in and out his Flash uniform, Wally and Linda, Jay with Joan, and even me.

"I'd ask you if you want something to drink, but I know you'll say no."

I follow her into the kitchen and lean against the threshold into the kitchen.

"How do you know if you don't ask?"

"Do you want something to drink? All I have is coffee and green tea."

"Eww, no."

She arches her eyebrow as she puts the coffee on.

"Look, Grandma..."

"I know why you're here Bart and yes."

I feel a bit flustered as I try to talk.

"...Ar-...are you sure?"

"Yes. Don't forget, I did a bit of reading during my time in the future. I guess, in hindsight. I shouldn't have...but, anyway. Yes Bart."

"What else can you tell me?"

"Like most good things, you'll have to work at it. But it'll be worth it. Believe me, it's worth it..."

Grandma Iris turns to leave the kitchen.

"Are you coming to my graduation tomorrow?"

She smiles before she retreats to her room.

"Honey, I wouldn't miss it for the world."

3 Hours Until Now

"James Henry Abercrombie."

My heart's thumping as I stand a few people back.

The sun beats down on my graduation gown, it's Flash scarlett. You gotta love the twin cities and their blatant love for all things Flash.

"William Matthew Adams."

Will walks across the stage and smile as he plucks the diploma out of the principal's hand.

"Bartholomew Henry Allen."

I take a deep breath as I walk across the stage, my eyes drift a bit as I look out into the crowd.

Kara, Wally, Jay, Joan, Grandma Iris, Linda and the twins are watching. I even spot Tim sitting with Vic and Gar. (Who stick out like sore thumbs by the way)

I take the diploma with my left hand and shake the principal's hand with my right.

"Congratulations, son."

I smile as I break the handshake and start to walk off the stage. I feel about ten feet tall as I join my other classmates.

"Thanks."

1 Hour Until Now

"Alright, guys. Burgers are almost ready tell me what you want on them."

Jay flips the burgers while Wally watches from behind.

"You're flipping them too soon. They won't cook right."

"Son, I've been cooking out since before you were messing in your undies."

It's a little party held in my honor, of all things. Jay managed to get a picnic area down by the river. Actually, it's my graduation and celebration of Wally and Linda finding a new house.

Gar turns into a butterfly and plays with the twins while Vic and Tim sit on a picnic table and talk about current events.

"Just dissapeared?"

"That's what Cassie said. She went to go see him and they said Conner was gone."

Before I can listen in anymore, something grabs my arm and pulls me towards the river bank.

"Come here, Bart. I haven't given you your graduation present yet."

Now

I sit on the river bank and look out at the water while Kara sits next to me, holding my hand.

"It's not a good a view as Mexico, but like I said. Having you here makes it 100% better."

I take a deep breath and start to stand up.

"Walk with me?"

Kara smiles as we both stand up and walk down the riverbank hand in hand.

"Sure."

The sun's already starting to sink low in the west, casting an eerie shadow on Blackgate and making it look like a haunted house off in the distance. My throat feels as dry as the Sahara as we crunch through the sand and mud of the riverbank, my toes digging into the muck.

"You know, Kara. I was thinking..."

"Uh-oh. Two thoughts in two days? The end is nigh!!"

I manage a feeble laugh as my hand digs inside my pocket.

"Y-yeah...anyway. I know we haven't been together long, but we have a good thing going. I can feel it...."

The little devil and angel pop up on my shoulder. The angel is Max, the devil is Impulse.

You dumbass, Bart!!!! Don't do it! Don't do it!

Bart, don't listen to him, my boy. You must do what is right. Search your feelings For what you know to be true....

Thank you Obi-Wan.

Don't call me that....

Max and Impulse dissapear as quickly as they came.

Kara stares at me, eyebrow arched.

"Umm...you okay, baby?"

I nod and swallow

"I'm fine, better than okay. Like I was saying, We have a good thing going. And, I think we should go farther...
I gave you my heart and my body. There's only one thing I have left that's worth a damn..."

I break free from her hand and start to kneel down. The diamond ring Grandma Iris gave me, the same one Grandpa Barry gave to her, flashes in her blue eyes. My knee crunches in the sand as I look up at her.

"My name..."
A lot of planning went into that one, I know, I was there.

BEST NEWCOMER

Even though he left us, Guitar Singer Guy did a good job. I look forward to interacting with the fresh faces next season though.

MVP

MB. I look forward to him next season as well. Hell of a job Shortpants. Or is it Lesbo now?

BEST HERO
This is a character who has been put to the limits. He has had to fight the temptation to do things as he "used' to, and he must relearn to be a hero. Sure, he may be a "Walking The Line" character by mere placement...but he is nonetheless trying to become a hero once again. Wieg has done quite a few things interesting with him, making him to be worthy of being a founding member of the new League to come.

BEST VILLAIN
Whenever you think of a villain from the DCU, what villains come to? Batman's, Superman's, and The Flash's. Makes sense, because they are just so great. So I was really happy when I read Johnny Blaze's version of the Rogue War. He has such a feel for playing the Flash Rogues since he is a big fan. This one goes to you, man.

BEST DEVELOPED CHARACTER
I didn't know much about the Atomic Skull. Correction...I knew nothing about the Atomic Skull. I didn't even know I was looking at the Timmverse's version of him when he appeared in one of the JLU episodes until Spike took him up. I was curious, and I set out to find pictures of him to see if I could refresh my memory. Spike has done an awesome job with him, and I thought his finale was great.

BEST FIGHT
The Rogue War fights. I know that is real general, but it fits with an arc, so it felt appropriate. One huge slugfest, but at the same time well written; it wasn't just meaningless pounding for several multiple posts. There was detail, there was action, it helped drive the story forward.

BEST STORY ARC
I'll title it, the "Crazy **** that went down in Gotham". But I shall explain what I am talking about. Towards the end of the Season, Gotham was the place to be. You had the ever so long chase of Two-Face who eventually crossed paths with The Joker and Scarecrow's spree, and then of course you had Jim Gordon and The Dark Knight following not too far behind because of Harvey. Then you had all the assistance coming to Gotham to help with the overall situation, with a brawl between some of the heroes, The Birds of Prey, and our three great villains. And alas, to end it off a "death" of the baddest villain in the DCU. Since all of those individual arcs came together, I say it fits.

BEST DUO
I am a Green Arrow fan. So when I saw byrd and GL finally have some interaction between Ollie and Roy I loved every minute of it. GL is already great at making the witty and hilarious comebacks back and forth with MB's Nightwing. But when I look back at all the DC Comics "dynamic duos" where a hero takes a "ward" or young hero under their wing...I look at Ollie and Roy the most and see "big bro, little bro"/"kid looking up and hanging out with his favorite uncle". So basically, the chemistry for them throw insults and jokes back and forth is just perfect.

BEST RIVALRY
If you all didn't enjoy the thing going on between Gordon and Harvey...then screw you. Just kidding of course. But, I was a fan of what was going on between the two. It gave a good TLH vibe, and that is one of the best Bat arcs of all time, so you know it would be great when you started to feel that vibe.

BEST COMEDIC POST
To me, this was a team effort. Just go read any of GL's and MB's duo posts...I cannot pick one. The witty and insulting comments when they bicker at each other back and forth always brings upon my face a big smile. Good stuff guys.

BEST DRAMATIC POST
There have been really nice stuff out there...but man, nothing has impacted me like this one post.

That's right. Feel guilty you s.o.b. for ever dropping Black Adam. Keyser Soze...words have trouble forming to express what comes to one's mind about that post. I have tried to and I've made a new word...amazinglyawesomeness.

BEST NEWCOMER
As of late ironically I've been becoming more and more interested in the GLC title, and the person whom I give this award to plays from what I've heard, one of the main characters. Oh Snap!'s Guy Gardner has been a great reflection of his character from the comics. The transition from the paper to this internet RPG has been great to read.

MVP
This person plays two characters in this RPG, but they are such extreme opposites. When he took up his second character, it wasn't at all someone you would expect. The styles and the personalities for each character is just so different, but he nails both characters so damn well. When I saw the guy playing the Clown Prince of Crime also taking up Gordon I was like "...woah." Great job Keyser Soze. The ranges of the two characters are so broad but you pulled it off.

Thanks for that, unfortunately I'll also be using this post to say I'll be dropping Guy, real life's really got in the way and I don't have the time to portay him in a way that does him justice.

Thank you very much for the award nominations and the kind words, Karem-Knight and trustyside-kick. :woot:

My awards will be up soon.

I'm just gonna say...there's going to be a lot of competition for Best Newcomer next year!

:wow:

Just another reason to make sure they all work their butts off if they want that reward. :cwink:
