I finally made it to the Penthouse. I saw the damage that The Joker had done to the place, even spray-painting "JOKER WAS HERE" on one of the walls.
Anger starts building in again. I try to tell myself that he's being taken in to Arkham Asylum and might get treatment, but I know that won't happen. Now that he knows who I really am, he can make my life a living hell. He knows where everyone I know lives, if he wanted to kill them to get to me, he would.
I remember Tim again. I searched around the penthouse and found nothing except one of my hood sweaters missing, and I don't think Joker would want to take that (though I guess in his sick mind, he'd find it funny).
I need to find him. But I have to do one thing first. I acess the secret portion of the penthouse and turn on the comm.
"Oracle? It's Bruce."
"What's up? ...Are you alright? You don't sound right..."
"I know. Listen...something...something's happened."
"What? What happened?"
"It's Alfred. He...he's dead. The Joker kidnapped him and injected him with his joker venom."
"Oh, Jesus...I'm sorry, Bruce...what do you want me to do?"
"Get the paramedics there, he's at the Boon Dock Bar & Grill, near Gotham Harbor."
"Can do... Do you want me to come over?"
"Not right now, I have to handle one more thing. Tim's missing."
"Yeah, trapped as the Red Hood..." I realize I haven't told her yet.
"Not anymore. We...had a talk. I think he saw what happened here and tried to find out what happened."
"Well, even the most pessmistic individual needs to have some sort of optimistic side... You need any help finding him?"
"Maybe try and see if any sightings of Robin or anything to note."
"On it... Huh, interesting. Apparantly, your old training partner, Henri Ducard, has just flown here in Gotham. With the satallites, I can dicipher that he's...somewhere in Central Gotham. I think I see someone with him, clad in that hoodie sweater I gave you for Christmas a few years ago. That's just wierd."
Bingo.
"I think that's all I need to know. Thanks, Barbara."
"No problem, Bruce. Take care."
She shuts off then and I leap out the window, using my jump line, heading for Central Gotham.
---
I see Ducard standing in the middle of Central Gotham. He hasn't aged a day. Meanwhile, I find the person in the guady purple sweater Barbara gave me.
With that, I take out spare clothes I brought with me. Batman disapears from the roof of the building he was manning, and a few minutes later, Bruce Wayne steps out of the main door, heading for the two people talking.
"Tim. Ducard, it's been a while."
