The 'World of Heroes: DC Style" RPG Season II

“yOu LiE! YoU LIE!” screamed the Scarebeast. Batman told the truth. Crane was the most fearful of all. He was so fearful; he had to create fear gas to cover his own fears. Batman or the city hadn’t done anything to him! It was himself to blame. This new theory worked its way into Crane’s brain. Like a bolt of power, it soared into his thoughts. The little snap in his sanity was being rebuilt.

The Scarebeast began to shrink. Flexing muscles began to shrivel.

“NO! WHAT HAVE YOU DONE TO ME!”

Soon, only a man was standing in the cracked streets. Dr. Crane was venerable. He looked around. His world was ending. He lowered his head and looked at Batman.

“You’re right. I lost,”

Grabbing a bottle of fear gas, he opened it up, and breathed it in. Two teenagers appeared. Bats started flying through the sky, towards Crane. Crows swooped down. The teenagers started beating Jonathan. Millions of zombies started scratching at Crane. Vixen, Jimmy Olsen, Tempest among them. All his minions came rushing towards him, slicing at him. All the people he ever killed was trying to get revenge. Then a ruffle parted the crowd. It was his worse fear, his mother.

“Jonathan Crane, you have been very bad,” the woman said. Claws extended from her fingers. The Scarecrow picked up another little container of fear gas. Throwing it, it exploded causing vision to be lost for a matter of seconds.

The fears disappeared. Only a tethered and shredded man, Crane, was lying dead in the ditch. And just like any other fear, he faded away.

OOC: This is my last post for this season and next’s as the Scarecrow! Thank you for a fun and enjoyable season. I may come back as him 4th season.

OOC: Thank you so much! I am planning on playing Catwoman. Want to try a anti-hero female. You bring alot of of humor into the RPG! Keep it up!

I look over at Batman. He's standing over the body of a serial killer who was just killed by the spirits of all of his victims. Couldn't have happened to a nicer guy.

"Batman, we should probably go. And don't feel bad. If I had been in your position I would have forced the gas down his throat myself."

The difference between Batman and I is that he refuses to confront his inner demons. I have, I've accepted them, and we couldn't be happyer together.

OOC: Well, seing as how The Question makes Batman look like a normal human being, I try to go for dark humor with him.

Good. Job. Also, just to let everyone know, the body has disappeared.

I watch as Johnathan Crane slowly killed himself. He took his fear gas and damn near drank it all. He started to rip himself apart, screaming and muttering about "bullies," "heroes," and "mother." Only when the screaming stopped and he slowly blew to pieces did I realize he was dead.

I wish I could say that in the end he died with some resemblance of sanity left. I wish I could say that he died with dignity. I wish...I wish I could FEEL something from this. But I don't. I watch with cold eyes as a man who I fought for almost a decade withered away and I felt just numb nothing. Everything feels lifeless now, anyway. Suprisingly enough, it still feels...grey. Like when I was with Grey Man's powers.

I saw Question next to me, saying something about not feeling sorry for him...he doesn't understand. I can't.

"Let's go, Sage. We still have work to do."

OOC: Ummm, I'm already standing up. I just said something to you.

OOC: My bad. Usually takes a bit to write it, don't really remember to look up. I just edited my post a bit.

Batman and I go through the streets, helping those we can. Batman looks worse than usual. Like a man who's lost sight of any reason for liveing. Like a man who's seen too much of the reaper.

"Batman, people like you and I, we're not like everyone else. We see more pain and tragity a day than most will see in a lifetime. And at the end of the day, we go home, sit by ourselves, and resent the fact that we'll be sucking air for a few more houres. It gets to the point that where we see so much death and chaos, that we end up resenting the people we can't save. We get so tired of dealing with murderers, rapists, and monsters, that we just want it all to end, and we really don't care how. We isolate ourselves so much, that we fell like we don't matter. We see so many people die, that we stop seing the point of being alive in the first place. But it shouldn't be like that. We should still have something that resembles a normal life. We should still have something that resembles happyness. So when this is all over, you are going to call that lady friend of yours Selina Kyle and yes I know who she is, you two are going to have yourselves a nice dinner and a night on the town, and you might just get laid. That's an order soldier."

Appearing in the air above Keystone, where he detected the nuclear blast, Hector surveys the scene as it happily surprised to find that the Green Lantern, Hal Jordan, has contained the explosion. Sensing inside the sphere, he is surprised to see that the radiation is gone as well. He has no idea how Hal accomplished this, but he does not care. Right now the people of Keystone needed help.

Stretching out his hands, Hector Hall begins to chant. After a handful of seconds, Fate’s chant reaches crescendo as he lifts his hands to the sky and waves of blue energy pulse outward. After the final wave makes its way across the city, each and every person infected with the gas begins to fall into a deep, unnatural sleep. As the people slumber, their nightmares begin to disperse into nothingness.

Moving down to hover in front of the heroes Batman, Superman, Question, Nightwing, and Dr. Mid-Nite and asks, “Well met, my friends.”

Fate touches down and walks up to them, “As you can see, I have placed the citizens of Keystone into a trance-like sleep, and dispelled their fears. They will only be under for a few hours, but it should give us more than enough time to find a cure for this plague.”

Looking around, Hector surveys the damage caused by the attack. Building have been turned to piles of rubble, fires burn high into the sky, and the number of dead civilians are more than Fate would care to see in an entire lifetime.
“Now then, if you’d be so kind as to fill me in on all the happenings inside Keystone since you arrived. And, please, leave nothing out, no matter how minor.”

I look at Question for a moment. I'm not sure if that could work. Things with me and Selina are...complecated, to say the least. Then again, what ISN'T in my day-to-day life?

"You...you might be right," I answer, "but we shouldn't deal with that right now. We should find the others, find out if this nightmare's almost over."

The Joker and Harley Quinn arrived at Gotham Zoo. The Joker hopped out of the passenger seat, approaching the gates.

"Nothing like a trip to the zoo," he chuckled, leaping over a low part of the fence, "Isn't there, my dear?"

Harley followed him over the fence, and they entered the zoo. They soon found what they were looking for. His two pet hyenas.

"Our poor babies have been locked up for the past few months!" sobbed The Joker theatrically, "But papa's come to take them home! Coochie coo!"

The Joker flipped the switch, opening their cage. The two rabid hyenas jumped up at The Joker, licking his face. The Joker laughed with an almost childlike glee, stroking them under the chin.

"You know what, Harley?" The Joker announced, "I think we'll let all the animals out for a night on the town! HAHAHAHAHA!"

He ran back and forth, flipping the switches to all the cages. one by one, the animals emerged fro mtheir cages.

"Lions, tigers and bears. OH MY! HA HA!"

The Joker finished by opening the main gates of the zoo. The animals began to escape, making their way into Gotham City.

"Wait! Stop!" shouted The Joker suddenly, "Something isn't right!"

He took a gun out of his pocket, handing it to a chimpanzee.

"I'm sure you can figure out how it works, my little friend," cackled The Joker, "Have a ball! HA HA!"

The Joker smiled with satisfaction as he lead Harley and the hyenas out of the zoo. He returned to the car, opening the door for the hyenas to jump in the backseat.

"Our work here is done, my sweet," said The Joker, "I think it's time for me to give you a grand tour of your new home!"

The Joker placed his foot on the acceleration, driving off into the night.

OOC: Yes, she is at her school. Sill, it's your character man, so have him crash onto the Stanford campus if you wish.

Or, just have Kyle get sent flying south near Sub Diego and interact with Aquaman then. Arthur's an NPC, so you wouldn't have to wait for someone to start RPing.

Speaking of which, you don't need other people to start RPing. You can do your own stories just as easily; look at Spike and Soze for example.

"Alright. Let's...."

Just then, Dr. Fate decends from the sky

"I believe that this plague is a combination of Scarecrow's fear gas and Mordu's magic. From what I've understand, there has been others here, including Shade and Deathstroke. Only one casulaty for us...Black Canary. I believe that's the jist of things."

OOC: Okay thanks man

*SMASH*
I crash through a window, Im not sure where I am, close to LA though. Im barely at the edge of conciousness .

*PASSES OUT*

Fate stares at him for a second, before speaking, “I see.”

Dinah Lance was dead.
Hector knew there would be some casualties in this war, but he still could not believe it. He had fought along side her on many occasions, with the JSA and without them. She was a good friend, and an even better person. And, now, she was no more. Hector did not show it, but he was lamenting within. He steeled his resolve quickly, for there was still a plight to deal with, and vowed to her that there would be no more casualties from this war. Her death would be the last.

Walking towards one of the sleeping townsfolk, Fate placed his open palm on the woman’s forehead. After a minute of contact, Hector rises to his feet. Speaking to the others in a calm, precise voice, Fate said, “I have discerned the mystical energies flowing through the victim’s bodies. If I had a vial of antidote for the Scarecrow’s regular fear gas, I would be able to make a working cure to counter the fear magicks involved.”

"Unfortunately, the only vial of the stuff outside of Gotham went up with the rest of the Watchtower. You'll have to go back to Batman's cave to get the rest."

Fate was obviously frustrated at this news.
“There must be some form of antidote close by?”
