The Wrestling Thread Mustache You a Question

Maybe. This Punk heel turns reminds me of that Rock heel turn before that first Austin/Rock Wrestlemania match. Rock was getting over with the crowd and then all of a sudden he turns at Survivor Series. I always thought it strange and he even said on his DVD that he had to trust creative turning heel.

But they turned him heel by teaming him with the mega heel at the time: Vince McMahon. The problem with Punk's heel turn was there was no mega-heel. Coupled with the fact that the mega-face (John Cena) was pretty stale with most of the crowd left it, in my estimation, a disastrous angle to begin with.

I think it really improved when Paul Heyman teamed with Punk. Heyman's just a naturally great heel, it helped Punk get over as a villain.

I have a question, I'd like to hear people's opinion on this. When Nitro was killing Raw in the ratings what would you attribute that to?

I personally watched because although I thought Scott Hall and Kevin Nash were really cool I hated Hulk Hogan, I hated Hollywood Hogan and I tuned in every week to watch Sting beat the crap out of the nWo.

But I came across an article recently that gave the opinion that the reason the nWo angle was so hot was because it was Hogan's first heel turn and because of the changing fan taste at the time (boo'ing the lame face and cheering the edgy heel) that they embraced Hogan as the new hero (which I disagree with).

So where do you think their success stem from? People wanting to watch Hogan as a heel, or wanting to watch Hogan get destroyed? And why did you watch?

Regarding the Monday Night Wars it was probably a combination of all three on WCW's part. People were tired of seeing larger than life cartoonish characters, gravitated more towards bad guys and both loved/hated(at the same time) Hollywood Hogan because he was no longer the superhero he portrayed.

Some would like to throw the blame on Shawn Michaels being champion but what doesnt work with that is that no champion during this period drew because of the aforementioned things above. Psycho Sid, Bret Hart, Kevin Nash and Undertaker(when he was able to keep people interested during later title reigns) had shots at carrying the ball at this time but because the product was no longer interested people, it didnt help any. So it was time to strike while the Iron is hot and change the product to something more edgy and give it to a popular edgy character that could carry the ball.

I wanted Hogan to get his ass kicked by the crow-like Sting as a kid. The fans who were into Hollywood Hogan were older. He never got a huge face reaction as a heel the way Austin did though, not even close, until his WWE return that is.

TNA Taped their Knockouts Knockdown pay-per-view earlier today. Here are the full results.

* Gail Kim defeated Alissa Flash (Cheerleader Melissa).

* Lei’d Tapa defeated Ivelisse.

* Tara w/Jessie Godderz defeated Mia Yim.

* Brooke Tessmacher defeated Santana Garrett.

* ODB defeated Trinity.

* Jackie Moore (Jacqueline) defeated Taryn Tarrell.

* Hannah Blossom defeated Sojo Bolt and Taeler Hendrix in a triple threat match.

* Velvet Sky defeated Jillian Hall.

* Mickie James defeated Serena Deeb.

Battle Royal

Rules applied for the match were that a knockout entered every two minutes. Over the rope eliminations but the final two face off in a match.

Entrants
1) Hannah Blossom
2) Gail Kim
3) Lei’d Tapa
4) Tara
5) Mickie James
6) Brooke Tessmacher
7) Jackie Moore
8) ODB
9) Velvet Sky
Eliminations
1) Hannah Blossom
2) Lei’d Tapa
3) Jackie
4) ODB
5) Velvet
6) Tessmacher
7) Tara

The match came down to Gail and Mickie, Gail acted like she was injuried and rolled up Mickie for the win.

Madison Rayne then came out to the ring and put a crown on Gail’s head. Gail forced Madison to leave the ring and posed for the crowd. That concluded the tapings.

Good card for that knockout show.

I'd like an Orton heel turn,I turned him on WWE'13 But I wan the real thing!!

they really need to do something more with Orton. He really feels underutilized

As for the Shield. Im sick of them. Its time to end this storyline

I wish Cheerleader Melissa /Jacqueline&Sojo Bolt were back on the TNA roster full-time!

The Shield will lose if Ryback stays in the match otherwise it'd be pointless. Ryback has to be the one who scores the pin, unless his push is dead.

Even Taker was pissed.

It's amazing really, between Taker being a Bret man and genuinely loathing HBK, it's just astounding that they patched things up to the point that they put on 2 matches that are amongst the best in WWE history.

The Knockouts PPV may sound better than expected after some of the Knockouts declined to appear. To those who did appear, my hats off to them for trying to make this PPV worth it and congrats to Gail Kim for being the Queen of the Knockouts. I will bet you she will probably wear this crown after the Chicago Impacts.

I hope TNA can sign some of the KO's who are not on contract, at least put them on pay-per-appearance deals because the current KO's division is staling no matter what TNA says.

Hogan's turn, the nWo angle, and the Cruiserweight division.

Wow, she's gorgeous. Did she quit the business completely?

I can see the resemblance to Vickie.

For the time being, yes, she has quit the business. It's a shame because I developed a little crush on her.

For the first time in years, I bought myself some WWE dvds. That last Hogan set, Unreleased for $5. Volume 1 of the Ladder Matches dvd for $5, and Rey Mysterio: Little Big Man for $10. Not bad haul on top of all the other dvds I've bought.
