Sequels The X-FORCE Official Thread - Part 1

X-Force is not meant to be a 3rd film. Ryan said there could be a Deadpool 3.

X-Force should be the start of a new series, its the one reason I would rather not have deadpool there.

In the comics, wasn't X-Force made by Cyclops to take on missions the X-Men were not allowed to on principle? They already have Colossus in the films and there are X-Men characters who have belonged to both teams like Psylocke, Colossus, Angel, Wolverine, X-23, Wolfsbane (New Mutants, played by Maisie Williams now).

I'd definitely want something closer to the comics, I don't think it's right to shift focus away from a superhero team to a merc-team, at least not without a solid X-Men team. You can't carry the X-Men franchise on Deadpool alone.

Well, I do have to apologize because I haven't caught up on all the comics yet, but from the little I have read in Messiah complex and second coming, X-Force wouldn't work without the existence of a solid X-Men team. Cable himself should have been introduced in X-Men since he did first appear in uncanny xmen 201 and New mutants 87.

I'm not saying Reynods' work is bad because we would have never seen these versions of Cable and Colossus without him. It's a step in the right direction but the next step should include both an X-Force and an X-Men set in the future.

Otherwise after watching Dark Phoenix (prequel), X-Force and New Mutants, it will feel like something's been missing.

The poster obviously meant the newer incarnation in the comics. The team that includes Wolverine and Wolfsbane, among others.

Sure, but that didn't exist without the prior incarnation as a precedent.

The two teams were completely different with no connection. Its not like the second was a continuation or evolution of the first. It was created independently by Cyclops and would have existed even if the original Cable led team never existed. With that said, a movie version will likely be an amalgam of both versions

Its possible Deadpool 2 pretty much set that up already and there really isn't much more to add to the creation of the team.

Maybe the running gag in Deadpool 2 shouldn't have been about X-Force since there is no way to create the team without that remembrance that Deadpool made up the name.

The idea of having an X-team that can do the things other X-teams won't is directly inspired by the original X-Force team (or the legacy of it). It's not like Scott doesn't know that they existed.

X-force v2 was assembled as a black ops assassination squad. Thats a far cry from the original version which was known for being edgy, but they werent going around killing their opponents. The only thing they share in common is their name but the premise behind both were completely different. Just like the 3 main incarnations of X-Factor

As I recall, the very first X-Force team was an offshoot of the X-Men to take on more militant and aggressive missions right?

They didn't become a black ops kill squad until the X-Force Volume 3/Messiah Complex era.

Even the first X-Force team tended to kill their opponents, something Cable never shied away from, and that was a big reason for the introduction of Deadpool as the writers didn't want to have to keep making additional powered goons for the baddies and just have them die.

I'd like to see what Goddard would do with this, but at this point I'd bet the timing makes it not feasible.
But keep on toiling on these projects. And getting paid for them. :oldrazz:
Fox/Disney will not even mind the economic loss on those just in pre production and you never know, some scripts may even be repurposable in the not too distant future.

Goddard is really unlucky with CBM gigs though.

While I'm not 100% sure on this, I'm pretty sure this one will happen regardless of the Disney accusation. A few of these are gonna be halted and X-Men will start transitioning into the MCU for sure, but I really think there will be a new brand created for this R rated stuff. Disney/Marvel knows the audience is already on board and canceling a Deadpool movie would result in backlash.

Nothing for them to lose here in making it. X-Force is guaranteed at least 700m+ without China.

I ain't particularly certain that Disney will move into R-rated stuff lightly. there hasn't been enough R-rated comic book movies for them to show alot of confidence in creating a new section of R-rated movies.

I know there is this feeling going around that Disney just wanna poop on FOX X-MEN apart from Deadpool because he is kinda like theirs right?... right? but i feel like there is no pick and choose in this situation. you can't desire for Disney to do one thing but make an exception on another when it suits you, and i think thats sadly what alot of people do.

The reality of its gonna come down to some interesting, if slightly unexpected results. something thats not gonna end up pleasing everyone.

At this point Disney has a lot on their plate and I doubt a short term thing like a X-Force film featuring FoXverse actors would be a priority. Its gonna be about Marvel Stud10s films for Disney.

Deadpool lost a bit of its charm with the sequel; something just felt a little more childish and less gritty to me. Disney should consider keeping the tone and rating of the original because when it gets too generic, it starts getting old for audiences and that's what was happening with Marvel before Phase III based on what I've heard from other moviegoers. Disney should keep Deadpool an R-rated comedy superhero.
