Sequels The X-FORCE Official Thread - Part 1

Apocalypse did not cast him as a lead or write him well. Two big issues. They ****ed up, and when you **** up that usually requires fixing things. In this case, recasting.

Warren is a major part of the X-Men. So yeah, eventually someone is gonna want to use him again. Just like quite a few X-men.

Agreed!:yay:

Heck, you are seeing Caliban already recast in a film that's not even a year from Apocalypse haha. So I don't think they care and of course they would do the same thing with Angel if the X-Force script included him.

No they probably don't care but when should they start caring? its ok to say yeah keep rebooting the same character over and over until you personally feel its done right but is that really when it stops? or can this habit just keep going on depending on each individual director and their own personal vision on the characters whether its more faithful or less faithful.

Agreed, UXF by Remender no doubt has the strongest material for X-Force.

Because of Apocalypse dropping the ball on Angel and Betsy I just don't know how likely this is now though.

That's pretty much the exact roster I wanted.

I have said this before and I will say this again. IMO, Angel and Psylocke should be stars in a X-Men movie and not the splinter team. I feel like X-Force should be for those characters that aren't really X-Men.

Though given the lack of dedication for Angel / Psylocke in the recent X-Men movie. I guess I wouldn't mind if they shine in a movie like X-Force. But ideally, Angel and Psylocke should at least be important in a X-Men movie as Beast was in X3.

They should definitely be in both, and I agree they should be important to X-Men. But after X3 and Apocalypse I don't have much hope for them or at lest until they do a full reboot. Psylocke has been used only as a villain twice now, and it's getting frustrating.

In every X-Force title she is in they always give her the female lead role. Since the roster will be smaller in X-Force as well that leads me to hope they would give her more. Betsy and Warren have the best X-Force story out there but either way whoever wants to give her proper development I'm cool with. I just want their potential shown.

When they actually plan and write these characters properly. Why are you even debating this?

Because the idea of continued rebooting characters won't always be for the right reason if this is a thing they are just allowed to do.

In this case it is for the right reasons, so what's the deal?

It really depends on the creative team. X-Force with Angel/Psylocke could be another Suicide Squad especially if Kinberg has too much time with his hands, writing another dud and that would still suck. But realistically, there's like zero percent of Angel and Psylocke showing up. Seeing those two in a X-Force movie is as impossible as seeing those two joining the X-Men unless Fox reboots.

At this point, I am looking forward to see characters we haven't seen before like Domino, Cable. And hopefully characters like Shatter star, Rictor would finally get a chance to appear in a movie.

I wouldn't straight out say you won't see psylocke or angel again, they clearly left it open they could come back after apocalypse, doesn't mean they will but its certainly possible it could happen.

RHETT REESE: There is a responsibility we have to the X-Force universe, and I do think we will not disappoint the fans going into Deadpool 2 and then setting up X-Force and beyond.

PAUL WERNICK: We never want to let the tail wag the dog. We want to tell the best Deadpool story we can. But I do think we have a responsibility to think about a larger universe in the way that Marvel does and start to put pieces in place. Some of these movies feel overstuffed and almost choking with the need to set up eighteen different things that pay off down the road, and we want to avoid that responsibility to the extent that it hurts us. We want to hint at things, we want to plan some characters, and we want to make some nods, but we’re very, very cognizant about making sure that Deadpool is above all a Deadpool movie.

REESE: Its purpose is not to set up X-Force. It will likely set up X-Force, but the drive of the movie won’t be our eyes on Movie 3.

"So with Cable, he’s got such a convoluted past, and such a convoluted origin story that I think we’re going to try to leave that, not mysterious, but there are a lot of twists and turns, cloning and all this stuff where you go, “Oh my God. How do we get that across in a two hour movie?” I think we’re going to distill him down to his essence. It will be authentic and faithful, but it’s not going to include the 18,000 details if you were going to read a Wikipedia page about Cable you’d roll your eyes"

My line up:
Cable, Domino, Shatterstar, X-23 and maybe Marrow.

I will be surprised if Domino is the only female member on the team. The xmen films don't normally do the cliche lone token female member on the team like we see in other CBM. Its not even intentional, they are just spoilt for choice with regards to female characters.

This. 100 times this.

I cannot stress how much I hate the way Fox have handled characters over the years. There's a mutant tracker bonus feature on the First Class blu ray which gives you little character bio's and such; and if you pick Emma Frost, it will list her conflicting appearances in Origins and First Class without batting a metaphorical eye. Fox just don't care.

Angel was wasted in The Last Stand, but the real damage was done last year when Singer shredded continuity to bring him on board in Apocalypse... just to waste him again. If we want another shot at getting Angel done well - this time as part of X-Force - we're probably gonna have to give logic another kicking.

I say it's worth it. The character is worth it. I fear he will probably not appear however, thanks to his horrible previous treatment in the series. The character doesn't have any of the development or history that made him interesting in the first place.

It baffles me how Angel in X3 had more character depth than in Apocalypse. Singer dropped the ball hard.

angel was just there in last stand.for apocalypse they just wanted him as one
of horseman which i liked better than last stand.

Thing is they could have just used Ben Foster again like Kelsey Grammar / Ellen Page in Dofp. But of course Singer cherry picked what's the new canon and what to retcon. If I had it my way, he would have been included in Dofp, taking Warpath's role as the sentinel tracker. Well he has a strong eye vision.

Still very much a rumour at this point, though looking more likely. Brosnon doesn't seem to be a very popular choice from what I've seen. Cable is never a character that appealed to me, so the qualities Brosnon could bring makes it more interesting.

they could cameo one or two non x-force characters. colossus was so well done in deadpool, imagine if they brought in a reinterpretation of Rogue? She does feature in a new deadpool game, I believe, along with Psylocke and Domino. I think Sookie would be great for it. No need for CGI ! :funny:

The Deadpool writers have said they kinda want to stay clear of using X-Men beyond maybe a fun silly cameo, colossus and warhead probably being exceptions since they appeared in the first one and so basically just being brought back.

besides cgi colossus returning only X-Man likely to show up in deadpool is a wolverine cameo and that is with all the deadpool/wolverine talk going around.

the deadpool writers sound like fox wants to keep X-Men and deadpool world largely seperate.
