and she'll just go by Lyn, cuz Gwen or Gwendolyn is just so outdated.![]()

She will go by name Gabrielle. And later at the end of movie reveal she is Lyn.![]()

I really have no desire to see Gwen again. I already got a version of her I absolutely loved played by one of my favorite actresses.![]()
I'd absolutely love a Spider-Gwen film though. Now that would be new and different.

Yeah, I'm mostly in this camp too.
I honestly expect 'em to skip out on Gwen in this series.![]()

No what you're doing is ignoring an aspect of this movie you've already praised. It would be one thing if you didn't like Holland in the role and everything else with the cast is an extension of that but no, you're critical of casting choices when you've already noted Marvel is already doing a good job of it.so one is not allowed to form an opinion and express said opinion until after they've seen the final film?
the boards would be a lot more boring and less interesting if we were to do that for every film. we'd have nothing to talk about while the film is being made. we'd have to wait until after the film comes out and after we've seen it to come here and discuss it.

Chloe-Moretz Grace or Elle Fanning are my choices for Gwen in the MCU.
both could have been good choices for MJ, too. at least look wise.
though Elle gives me more of a Gwen vibe.
Not necessarily. Just means it won't unfold as it did in 616 universe, which is good as we already saw a moderately faithful version of that in TASM series. I love ASM 121-122 and all, but I'm not super excited to see Gwen die again, especially when that was one of the few things I thought TASM2 did extremely well.
There's still a chance we get Gwen in future MCU Spidey adventures, just don't expect green coat and purple skirt IMO.
I'm jumping to conclusions based on the subsequent casting choices, set pics, and character descriptions that have started to leak out.
true, the final result could turn out entirely different.
but right now, I'm not that confident.

I don't understand your confusion. Going off your example, you haven't tried the other dishes at the restaurant. You already enjoyed one dish there why assume the others aren't good when A: you haven't tried them B: you've already had a dish you enjoy there. You're steady trying to generalize my comments when I'm being specific to your complaints.I'm sorry. I just don't get what you're saying. that doesn't even make any sense.
because I like Tom's casting, I have to like and praise and accept all future casting decisions or story decisions or whatever?
conversely, the only way I can be critical of the rest of the choices is if I'm also critical of Tom's casting??
what??
If I go to a restaurant, I order one dish and I like it. That means I have to like everything else that restaurant makes because I think they are "already doing a good job?"
What if I order another dish, and I hate it or the dish was served spoiled. I am not allowed to hate it or complain to the restaurant about it?
if I then have multiple, subsequent bad experiences at that restaurant, I am not allowed to form a negative opinion about the restaurant because I had a good initial experience?
If they ever do Gwen in these movies, I don't want to see her for a while.
I also don't want to see a full-blown Peter and MJ romance to happen too quickly either.
I just want something different, really. There's no point in "remaking" the character so soon again if they're just going to repeat the same beats as the previous films.

the thing with Gwen, is that the key, defining story arc for her involves her death. so, unless you plan on killing her off, and dealing with how that affects Peter and those around him, it's probably best not to include the character.
I'd be fine with no Gwen.
And that's why I was hoping that Zendaya wouldve played an original character.
I love MJ and Gwen but theyve been done. I know its been like 10 years since that last love action MJ but still

TASM Gwen isn't anywhere near perfect, they can definitely improve on the character imo. I don't think they'll skip out on her entirely but I also don't think we'll be seeing traditional Gwen again.
I got my hopes up with Pete in HS and everything else but skipping to MJ just eliminates pretty much all that.
The stuff with Tony being his mentor really just rubs me the wrong way too. It detracts I think from Pete's burden and potentially provides the father figure that is supposed to be absent from his life. Pete is a really smart wise-ass with the weight of the world on his shoulders.
Gwen ws probably the best thing about ASM. That series wasnt perfect but one thing they got right was the Peter/Gwen romance.
