Ouch! Rey needs to retire or only make special appearances.
Oh absolutely. He should be a part timer or special attraction these days. Thats unofficially what he is now anyway. Not sure why Rey even bothers to try a full time schedule since there is no way he can handle it today. Seems like he's spent at least half of the last 6 years on the injury list.
At this point I have to wonder if its a question of him not wanting to give up the money he makes or WWE not feeling he's worthy of the part timer status? Seems like negotiations between him and WWE are often tooth and nail kind of affairs.
Exactly. I saw some people come into this thread tonight because they saw the old school theme and it got their attention. It's one of the many reasons not to have a throwaway show. Some of the main event feuds moved forward , but I still have questions about the midcard. This needs to be resolved shortly.
Good point. Its Raws like Mondays when they
SHOULD try to put on the best show they possibly can. Thats when a few people might be interested in tuning in to Raw again. Instead they waste the opportunities on a mediocre shows and don't take full advantage of the attention.
It's really cool to see this every once in a while. If they put massive effort into one of these specials it could probably sell on dvd/blu ray. Hearing the music again is very surreal.
I always enjoy them for the nostalgia factor alone. As long as they space them out and don't ruin the novelty they always have that hook.
Tweets across the screen , Ryder joining the hall of pain , and Miz doing the worst impression of Flair's strut I've ever seen.. ugh.
It was good mic work from the both of them and I think Rock has gotten better. It felt like something was missing though. Cena turning heel would make it so much better. I could see him cheating to win.
I wanted to shoot my tv when I saw Miz trying to do stuff like Flair. It was that awful. Someone please tell him to stop doing the Figure Four. Just stop. Like everyone said umpteen times last night Flair should be with Dolph. Its a much more natural fit.
I thought Rock and Cena did an ok job last night. Some of Rocks delivery didn't feel very genuine...and Cena went on a little too long. At least they kept the goofy lame assed jokes to a minumum. They are trying to paint Cena as the underdog next to an overly confident Rock and it just comes off as ridiculous from both sides. Especially Cenas though. You could wrap the angle in lead and Superman could still see right through it.

Ditto. NAO looked great last night and all four guys are good enough to make a tag match interesting. Hell I'd even settle for an 8 man tag so some newer younger talent can get the rub.
Ziggler vs Jericho is an easy to put together no brainer match that would actually be good.

I was looking forward to finally getting Sheamus Vs. Undertaker and they blew it...
I sort of feel the same but at least Punk will be one of the few able to carry Taker to a good match. They went with an easy explanation that makes sense but as of right now the matchup has no strong story behind it. That might change but they only have a months worth of Raws to do it. Not much.
Sheamus could probably put on a good match with Taker but that would have even less of a story and while Sheamus can work he's not of Punks caliber nor can he sell the match buildup with promos the way I'm sure Punk can. With such a short time thats why it made sense to go with the best mic man from a creative standpoint.
Re: Best of Nitro Volume 2
Lots of goodies on this set. Its certainly better than Volume 1 such as this gem:
I REALLY need to buy this. So glad to hear its better than the first set which really disappointed me.
I just wish they would stop dubbing over Goldberg's WCW theme. Sh**'s annoying!
What are the dubbing it over with? Goldbergs WWE theme?
Re: Bret Hart: Dungeon Collection
When Bret Hart had his previous DVD set released in 2005, there was nothing, but brutal honesty from him as well as some unease after burying the hatchet with Vince.
Fast forward to now with The elder, but dignified Hitman picking up where he left off. This time with him having peace of mind. He goes over these handpicked matches (I forgot how good the KOTR match with Diesel was!) before they're shown and he also tells some great stories like a grandfather would about the days of yore.
I really enjoyed this layout and hope for more Unreleased Matches from other great Superstars giving their thoughts on their past work. The presentation ends with Bret doing what any wrestling fan would do: staying at home watching classic matches on a big ass HDTV!
This also good to know. It was a must buy for me anyway but I really need to get it now. The format sounds unique.

I also think he's pissed someone off by defying expectations. His treatment lately has been pretty ridiculous.
Cena is never going to turn heel. I have given up on that ever happening.
It would be epic if Cena beat the Rock and turned Heel but its not going to happen. As long as Cena is in the WWE he is going to have the same character he has now.
Vince likes to follow the same formulas and people forget Hogan was a face for the whole of his second run in the WWF. Almost ten years! Then it was two more years after he went to WCW that he turned. Before all of that he was a face in the AWA. Thats the better part of 15 years as a babyface. I think there's a slim chance that Cena could turn one day but I wouldn't expect it. If Vince sticks to his usual MO he'll get everything he can out of Cenas face run. Some people here think the whole crowd hates him but its only a lot of older fans (not even all of them). Cenas still making them way too much money.
And for people who think it would creatively be the right thing to do (and it would be) Vince is the same guy who has relied on a part timer to draw at the top for three Wrestlemanias in a row. Its all symptoms of the same problems. He stopped giving a f*** about whats best creatively a long time ago. Its all about what makes money.
If people want a change from Cena we need to see people being less happy to see the same old stuff (even when its some stuff they like) and actually give Vince a real reason to take some widespread creative gambles. He feels no need to take creative risks or put effort into quality booking when he knows that despite them hating Cena the Attitude Era marks will still pay their money to see The Rock, HHH, and The Undertaker. And he gets the money from the kids with Cena on top for their generation. In Vince's eyes its win-win since he has people who can make money by appealing to different generations of fandom.
It doesn't.
WWE can have Cody Rhodes, Wade Barrett, Cesaro, Miz, Ziggler and so on talk all they want about bringing prestige back to those titles but if you continue to book those champs like trash it means nothing.
Exactly. The midcard, the talent, and the belts don't mean sh** to Vince. They are filler in his eyes. The weak build most of these guys have going towards Wrestlemania 29 is proof of that. The days of midcard titles mattering is going to be over for a while unless there is a real creative shakeup in WWE.

I hope this leads to some kind of match at Wrestlemania for Rhodes Scholars. Either a two team or three team or four team match. The Outlaws could put them over strong. Thats something Rhodes and Sandow need.

didn't they take a big dig at WWE and Vince when they were in TNA, with that whole VKM tag team name?
Yeah but Vince has allowed people back in WWE despite doing and saying worse things. WWE knows they need veteran talents as good as Jesse James and Billy Gunn to either work as agents or directly put over younger talents in the ring or both. Guys of their skill and popularity who can still go are scarce now a days. Plus while they aren't always best buddies with HHH they were memorable parts of DX and the Attitude Era and WWE loves squeezing ever more money out of DX and Attitude stuff when they can.

Agreed. I think it would be a mistake to bring the Attitude Era back whole hog but I wish Vince could see behind the stars and asthetics to see what else made that era sucessful. The world has changed, a lot of that stuff wouldn't fly now, and WWE needs to progress not regress but elements of Attitude era booking, star building, and unpredictablity should return. Like you said Vince can't seem to seperate one thing from the other though.
Punk could be an anti estableshment/anti authority kind of hero or anti hero like Austin while still being quite different from Austin. The difference is Austin was booked strong but they've dropped the ball with Punk despite him doing some great work and having great talent. Right now he's as sucessful as he is mostly in spite of WWE creative not because of them.
