I really liked it how both Franco and Grace mentioned they may have a future in the series...they didn't outright say it, but it was hinted at...
Sandman holding up a sand mace about to kill spidey until Sandman's daughter shows up and begs her father to stop seems like the better ending than what we got.
I'm disappointed we didn't get to see the sand mace but it would have been too convenient for Penny to be there. Besides, why would she be there, they had no reason, it's not like Penny and Mrs. Marko knew it was Flint that was doing battle at the construction site. All they could have seen on the news was that it was some random giant sand monster that was doing the fighting.
When Sandman first appeared in public (on Spidey Appreciation Day), the cop who initially pursued him did so because the officer recognized Flint Marko as "the guy from that prison break." So Sandman was immediately identified as Marko - we weren't show any headlines with this info, but presumably it was reported somewhere. And the annoying news reporter at the Final Battle did refer to him as The Sandman - I think it's reasonable to think Mrs. Marko and Penny might rush to the scene (or at least Penny might, since Mrs. Marko wanted nothing to do with Flint).
What's even more disappointing is the fact that THC is defending a lousy ending over what were clearly superior versions to the one we got. Maybe the crew was intentionally making a bad film after all.I'm disappointed we didn't get to see the sand mace but it would have been too convenient for Penny to be there.
