Batman Begins Things Batman Begins got Right/Wrong

It's simple---a guy dressed as a bat simply looks better than a guy dressed as a scarecrow--which rarely, if ever, looks "cool."

I honestly can't tell if you're serious or not. Scarecrow's costume isn't meant to "look better" than a bat costume nor is it suppose to look "cool," but rather scary. Again, I didn't see Scarecrow in this movie. Only Potato Sack Man. If they had placed Batman in a bird costume, I wouldn't consider him Batman.

Maybe you never read the comics then. Bruce can't make everything like you thought he would. I have Batman #0 & Detective Comics #0. Both show his origin & how he got his stuff. Guess what? One of the stuff he took from his own company was a Batmobile, just like in BB. He did made his Batarangs in the comics too as we see in BB as well. Fox was even in the comics if anyone never pick up a comic or read the origin story. BB surely borrow many things from the comics on how & where he get his toys. ;)

Again, Batman may be smart but he can't do everything. Iron Man is smarter than him. Batman is only smart with using detective skills & making small gadgets, not inventing Batmobile or heavy stuff like that.

I personally think Bruce wayne is smarter then Tony stark but thats another debate.

batman built the brother eye and devised all the variuos methods to take down the justice league in tower of babel from sophisticated nanites to take down jonn jonzz to modified red krptonite to take down superman the assuption that a guy with these smarts cant build a car or a bullet proof suit is ludicrus to me.

You can't compare the Tower of Babel Batman to the Nolan films. Those are two completely different mediums.

I'm going by what the production designers probably had in mind. They probably thought it'd be a bit difficult to take a guy seriously if he were literally dressed up as a scarecrow, straw hat and all.

Quite frankly, it wasn't until I saw Alex Ross' redesign of the character in the Justice series that I really got an idea of them pulling it off in a somewhat disturbing way. Then again, the whole "freak" thing doesn't quite take off until *after* Batman Begins, so we are in essence seeing "Scarecrow Begins."

I liked his get-up with the torn straight jacket and the burlap mask.

Scarecrow in Batman Begins is actually my favorite villain out of all the (live-action) Bat-films... :O

:wow: Better then Joker?, Penguin?, Catwoman????? i know some fans dont like joker but they can at least admit he was good. Penguin was a far different beast then his original concept but Danny devito was excellent IMO and even real die hard fans who dislike burtons movies except Catwoman was amazing. Cillian Murphy was the best villain in BB IMO but i would even put him behind Jim Careys Riddler who was great in the role BF isnt everyones favourite but Carey was its one bright spot just because he wasnt deep and psychological doesnt mean he didnt rock.

BEST TO WORST BAT VILLAINS SO FAR

1.JOKER
2.CATWOMAN
3.PENGUIN
4.RIDDLER
5.SCARECROW
6.RAS
7.TWOFACE
8.MR FREEZE
9.POISEN IVY
10.BANE

I'd agree with that list, except I'd put Ra's over Riddler, and Poison Ivy over Freeze.

He can be defeated by an average girl with a taser. :(

I think anybody could be defeated by someone with a taser. Tasers pretty much take you down, whether your a guy in a burlap sack mask or not.

That kind of demystifying with Scarecrow and the taser and Ra's and his fake immortality are some of the better ideas in Begins I think.

I really wouldn't say Rachel was an "average girl," either. She tried to take on two muggers in the train station, she fires a taser right into Batman's chest, she grabs a gun off of a wounded cop and is prepared to cap a bunch of escaped lunatics....I mean, the average girl would've probably pulled a Vicki Vale in B '89 and screamed at everything.

That's why Scarecrow should have been re-written into a worthy villiaj before shooting the mvoie.

Next we'll have a Joker that is not that crazy and a Two-Face that has a tiny scar on his face?

If not for Batman, the two muggers and the bunch of lunatics would have killed her in 3 seconds. And then, Scarecrow is written as even weaker than her. :csad:

That said, Vicky tricked Joker so he lowered his guard. Not average either.

To be fair scarecrow has never been a physical strong character but i loved in Knightfall where he knows some karate the "crane" technique a scene where he surprises batman with a few moves would have been welcome.

oh yeah, cillian murphy getting tazored by a girl TOTALLY kicks the crap out of jack nicholsons joker.:whatever:

*shutters*:wow: that would be terrible.

We'll you have to be specific about what Right/Wrong is. You mean Right/wrong according to the comics, look, overall feel???

Because according to (their world) the new take on batman nolans' vision. I dont think they got anything wrong.

Stop looking to instigate trouble, nowhere did he mention Nicholson's Joker, he simply gave his opinion on Scarecrow.

Those analogies miss the mark entirely. Scarecrow being tasered was in keeping with the character's weakness and Ra's ruse dismisses nothing. They're both decent parallels to Batman

I agree about Ra's. The immortality sounds cheese. But Scarecrow's weakness would be the weakness of how he was written.

Right:

Sense of gotham city as a city which looks slick on the surface but is desperately rotten away inside
The villains and batman, all spot on IMV, as is wayne
Story/plot much stronger than in any other batfilm (the others were just an origin story for each villain, a plot for the villain and then the plot being failed, this seemed more intricate and well thought out

Wrong

The one liners
Bruce's dad - just a poor actor I thought, the weakest link

Thanks for that completely unbiased comment, Spunky. Look, I loved Nicholson's Joker, I loved De Vito's Penguin (black goo and all), I loved Pfeiffer's Catwoman, hell, I even loved Jim Carrey's Riddler. I just loved Cillian Murphy's Scarecrow more. Figured I was allowed to express my opinion without eye rolling...

One thing I wanted to see for a long time and that BB finally got right was the Batman/Gordon relationship.
