Hi, I had an idea for a thread. What do you think are things fans would LOVE to see but are HIGHLY unlikely to be seen in Batman 3? (in other words, there's 99.9% chance that Nolan would never include it... but you would).

Here's some, I think, fans want, but Nolan would never:

-Harley Quinn
-Talia Al Ghul
-League of Shadows
-Batwing

Things I personally would like to see, but I know I never will:
-Dick Grayson
-Leslie Thompkins

Thoughts?

Why wouldn't we see Leslie Thomkins? There's room for an established actress like Judi Dench, Meryl Streep, Glenn Close or Maggie Smith in a couple of scenes alongside Michael Caine and/or Morgan Freeman.

Sarah Essen, on the other hand, will probably never be seen as Jim Gordon's wife has had the audience sympathy and Jim would lose fans if he cheated on her after the events of TDK.

Harley Quinn is probably the biggest. For that to happen her character would need to be heavily adjusted from the one we know, as she won't be with the Joker.

I'm probably on my own but I'd be happy to see Barbara Gordon (daughter, not wife) become a copycat of Batman (for a couple of scenes), only for Bruce to stop her and say "Gotham doesn't need a Batgirl. Go home before some psycho puts you in a wheelchair". It'd be a totally different direction to the B&R Batgirl.

How do you know Harley won't be with Joker? Have I missed something?

What does that have to do with anything? I don't wanna get into a argument about it but I'll say this. The Joker is bigger than any actor out there. From Marlon Brando to Heath Ledger. If Nolan wants to use Joker again, he will.

Which is fair enough, but I honestly don't see them recasting that role anytime soon.

It would work well in the plot sense if the Joker could return, but it's clear a lot of actors will say they wouldn't want to replace Ledger.

He probably wont.

Even with an alive Heath, I doubt they would add Harley Quinn.

Fair point.

I would like to see Bane, Deathstroke or Croc get the big screen treatment. Villains who can wipe the floor with Batman physically. But I think Nolan is going to carry on with the more cerebral villain route. But I really, really hope there is a physical villain in the next one, not just one who can mess with Batmans mind.

Bane and Deathstroke can be cerebral villains. Though Deathstroke isn't a Batman villain, he's a Teen Titans villain. Deadshot would be a better counter-part but he works as a minion for a big bad.

Deadshot was done already, in the "Gotham Knight" anime. So was Croc. And IIRC, storywise it was somewhat of a canon, even if it looked off.

Well Deathstroke is a DC villain, he has fought Batman before, and handed him his ass.

Plus I like the idea of ninja vs ninja. Another martial artist to take Batman on, but they definitely need to change his fighting style. I think TDK really dropped the ball in that respect. All the fight scenes were crap IMO. It looked too clunky and choreographed. You could see people bracing themselves as they were hit, falling over before being hit, stupid **** like that. Really disappointing IMO. The fight with Joker was ok, but that was mainly because Joker was just like a wild dog, there was no "fighting style" per se.

I REALLY love that idea.

Well Deathstroke is a DC villain,

As is every other DC villain. Batman's rogues gallery still has many great villains with untapped potential in movies. Replacing them with random DCU villains is a waste. It's also why WB needs to get the DCU film franchises moving.

It would be unfair for the other franchises as well with the Bat embargo. His villains have fought other DCU heroes before but I doubt we'd see them as primary villains in their movies if they had the opportunity.

he has fought Batman before, and handed him his ass.
So have many others from Darkseid to Prometheus.

Bane could do that.

Well yea, that's why I mentioned Bane as well.

But Bane isn't a martial artist really. That's what I want to see. A epic, one on one TECHNICAL martial arts fight. That's how I picture Batman fighting in the comics. Sorta Matrix style. He is supposedly one of the best martial artists in comicdom, his fighting style in the Nolan films and in particular TDK isn't how i'd imagine an expert martial artist to fight.

Viggo Mortenson is my choice for Deathstroke, well at least for his voice.

But see, I've always thought that Batman doesn't have just one style, he should have a variety of different styles.

I like the idea of a different fighting styles thread.

Why don't you consider Bane a martial artist? He isn't a brawler. He's highly trained in unarmed combat enough to give Batman tough fights. Nobody can do that without serious skill in martial arts.

What makes him extremely dangerous is that he can compete with Batman on every level from strategy to fisticuffs.

I totally agree with you, and it's not because I have anything against the characters but because I really wouldn't lke to see them with Nolan's Batman. Take for example Catwoman yeah yeah shes cool and all but honestly I don't want to see Batman fighting along side some chick with a whip. I would love to see The Penguin, Riddler and Black Mask.

Yea but Bane is just insanely powerful, he isn't particularly technical with his style. Sure he must be competent in martial arts, but the only reason he obliterated Batman before was because Batman was already ****ed. Jean Paul ****ed Bane up, well, to an extent.

I'm not saying I wouldn't want Bane. I would love to see him properly treated on film. Maybe the next one could be a adaptation of Knightfall? Bane comes to town, wants to break the bat, springs the inmates from Arkham to wear Batman down, then strikes at the right time to defeat him.

But out of the physical threats to Batman, Deathstroke is my choice. He could be adapted to be a surviving League of Shadows ninja, also personally trained before Ra's and sent on his mission to cleanse the world of evil before Bruce arrived. But they are different. When Bruce refused to execute that prisoner, Slade showed no mercy or hesitation. Slade is willing to go all the way to see justice done. Maybe he is in Gotham to clean up the rest of the mob in lethal fashion, Batman can't allow this, so they cross paths.

Too *wink wink*-cheek in tongue-move, I don't quite like it.

they count...cause anime plays in between begins and dark knight:-)

I don't count them as continuity. They may be set in the same universe but they have no relation to the films IMO. If so, why isn't killer croc or deadshot mentioned in the film? And look at the different suits Batman had.

That wasn't the only time they fought. Bane and Batman got into many fights where they both were at their peak physically. Batman barely gets to win since Bane is so skilled. I've seen this happen at least twice, in the end of Legacy and Batman: Bane.

Bane relies on brute force but that isn't why he wins. It's how he uses it to maximum efficency with skill. That's how he keeps up with Batman in fights.

Jean Paul ****ed Bane up, well, to an extent.

Jean Paul didn't do it just with skill, he was basically wearing a tank IIRC.

I'd like to see that, too.
