Yeah, when re-watching HB, its flaws become more apparent, but so does its heart and great characters, i think HBII will be better, but HB is an awesome movie still. Only the CGI has dated it really.

That scene where Hellboy flips the van in the first movie wa a good scene, but I didn't like the slo-mo flip. I could do without more slo-mo shots, say thankya.

I love the first HB film, just the feeling of it is great.
TBH there only one scene that makes me cringe abit, and thats where in the subway Hellboy's foot is grabbed and then he is thrown up threw a window, but the way they did it along with the camera speed just makes it look a little dodgy.

Cant wait for HB2 , that and Batman for me thx.

I desperately hope they fix the wire work in TGA. The wire work in the first movie was basically the worst wire work I have ever seen in any movie.

There wasn't enough forward movement in the first movie and it really hurt the pacing.

But my greatest wish is to improve on the wire work. It was just that bad.

The main thing they need to fix is the writing. Del Toro can have some input but the last thing he should be doing is writing his own films. He's an awful storyteller based on the comic book movies I've seen.

Um, which comic book movies? GdT has made 2 before HBII - Hellboy and Blade II. He only wrote one of them ... Hellboy, and the scripting wasn't bad at all. The apathetic and weak Blade II was written by David Goyer. Apparently the script was sent back 3 times to be improved, and it was still poor.

First of all, you won't have seen HBII yet. And secondly, didn't I explain myself clearly? Guillermo did not write Blade II. So you have the total of ONE comic book film that has been written by Guillermo del Toro released into cinemas so far. And as far as I'm concerned, it had a helluva lot going for it. Far better than the majority of comic book adaptations doing the rounds in the past ten years.

I thought the film was great fun, but its weakest point was its script. Goyer's writing lacked oomph and was pretty bland stuff. Still, GdT made up for it with gorgeous visuals and a cracking pace, and some corkingly good villains in the reapers. It is by far the best of the Blade movies.

I dont know about by far the best, the first was great as well, though it hasnt aged well, but yeah II is the best of the bunch, the action in it is amazing, which is why i was initially dissapointed with what we got in Hellboy. But after reading the comics, and then watching the movie last night, the fights in HB were perfect for HB!

I'm reading TPB's 1-8 right now in anticipation for HBII, cant believe we have to to wait until August 22nd to get it over here!

hmmm...I prefer the first Blade movie. The Techno scene at the beginning and the Dorian Frost was awesome. I am not sure the villains were ever as good as they were in the first. After you battle the a deity it's kind of an uphill battle to find an equally good villain..
