Things you don't want to see happen in the next Superman movies

Says a guy that likes a show that has butchered the Superman Mythos.

I could just say "well thats comming from a guy who has that Nick Cage Burton crap in his avatar". - thats an example, you go ahead and keep using it, if you like it, who am I to judge?

He is allowed to have his opinion. If you dissagree, just say what you don't or do like. There is no need to personal insulting him, or discredit him because of his taste.

It counts for me. I include a situation like this in my "don't do" list.

I guess I should have been more specific: I don't want a Superman who commits murder - willingly commits murder - without regard for anyone.

Murder is "the killing of a human being by a sane person, with intent, malice aforethought (prior intention to kill the particular victim or anyone who gets in the way) and with no legal excuse or authority."

Manslaughter is "the unlawful killing of another person without premeditation or so-called "malice aforethought" (an evil intent prior to the killing). It is distinguished from murder (which brings greater penalties) by lack of any prior intention to kill anyone or create a deadly situation."

I would suggest rewatching the NK scene again, especially from 2:36-2:50:

That earthquake was the result of Superman lifting the massive continent, but IMO it was clearly the goons' own fault for not getting out of the way in time. Watch and decide.

^ I know the scene. It's a technicality for Superman; it's still out of character. He doesn't even live by the "I won't have to kill you, but I don't have to save you" thing, let alone actually engage in an action that directly results in the death of people. Above all else, he beliefs in the sanctity of Life as a principle.

Of all the things I don't like about SR, the lifting of the continent was with the hired thugs on it was not really something that I was that concerned about. That really did not bother me.

No Kara, Zod or other Kryptonians. Kal-El should be Krypton's sole survivor.

you know what I don't want to see in the next Superman movie????

a whiney, emo Superman who flies into the clouds crying after eavesdropping on his former girlfriend and hearing her tell her fiance that she doesn't love Superman..........

well we should have some of those down the road, at least zod or some other kryptonian threat from the phantom zone. But yea kalel should be the only one to survive the destruction of krypton itself.

except Kara.......:o

Since life is a principle for him, he decided to get rid of that continent which was threatening to kill millions.

I can see how you could argue it was out of character for Superman, but keep in mind New Krypton was expanding. He arguably didn't have enough time for anything but what he did.

I don't know about the rest of you guys, but I want that kid out...throw tthat lil bastard in an orphanage and forget about him.

I don't think I saw anyone who liked and wanted to see the kid back. Except some professional critic right after SR came out.

I don't want to see Lex, Brainiac, or Mongul.

I don't want to see a silver S, I don't want glossy tights, and I don't want Routh as Superman.

well lex should be a part, but we can all agree he shouldnt be the main villain or the only villain this time. He should be around have a few scenes. The city thinks he is such a great guy. But he is really behind everything evil in the city. Thust he is the puppet master type of guy and say if metallo was super villain for first new film series he is the one to create him and go from there. Then by end of the film superman finds out lex was behind it all. Then second film lex is the bigger thorn.

Webhead, you seem to be extremely conservative (I'm not talking about politics) when it comes to these things.

I for one think Kryptonite and Lex Luthor could be entirely absent from a Superman film with it still being a great Superman film. His universe is huge; there are countless elements, settings, and characters to use. I think many fans are selling themselves short by drawing too many parameters.

I want to see something totally different than what we've had in the films so far. Maybe later we can return to the more traditional points.

prime i get why you and others dont want to have those things, but for other fans these are important aspects that should have a part in film series. Sure we dont need to see it every single time and all that. Kryptonite i agree if we dont have mettalo or a foe not needing kryptonite in the first film yea then no kryptonite makes sense and all that. But if we see desctruction of krypton we the fans know oh thats kryptonite so then it will play into effect later in superman life. So yea if we started out with say brainiac yea then we dont need to have kryptonite around or what not for first film. But lex and kryptonite should have its places in a new film series and all that.

As for lex there is so much more they can do with the character if they drop the simple con man lex of donner's film/early comics lex. Then went with the corp/political lex. Now sure next time around we can be told and seen lexcorp and know lex is a big time corp guy. But maybe he doesnt make alot of public showing and all that. But the city loves the guy. Then like i was posting in the other thread a few mins ago. Maybe we just find out lex is behind everything. Then isnt shown to us fans and to superman to the end of the film. Where superman warns lex he knows who he truly is. So then in sequel lex plays a much bigger part. Then say add in metallo and kryptonite for sequel and there you go.

He could grab them and drop them off at land or even further away in the sea in a about half a second, then pick up the continent.

IMO Zod is overrated and don't get me started on Kara.

aside from slo-mo, i don't want to see the superman movies ripping off the matrix's style at all.

No other Kryptonians? That's crazy talk.

Just don't make a Kandor, with tons of them.

i never want to see lex taking a kryptonite-laced bullet for superman or ever saying sorry to him even if he's dying.
