Things You Want To See With This Reboot That Never Has Been Done Before?

I'd scale him back to either TAS levels, where he struggles a little, or even back to that action comics run from early new 52, where bullets "hurt" or "sting" and electricity is painful. But obviously still keep a good level of super strength, speed, and flight.
TAS Superman was strong but held back because he did not want to hurt anyone. Remember the last episode vs Darkseid. Epic DC ending. What a show. Superman is the ultimate weapon, God, or being in the Universe. Nothing but Kriptonite should be able to hurt him. When you make him weaker or make him have a weakness to magic you water down him in my opinion.

Make his strength level roughly lifting a cruise ship. 90 to 100k Tons.

Any more than that and he really has to strain. I don't wanna see him able to do ridiculous things like move mountains or the moon.

Bullets shouldnt be able to harm him, but things Iike tank shells or missiles can slightly bruise him. Several could even hurt him.
Have his speed be really fast, but not flash fast.
About roughly the speed of a bullet, But no faster.

He has to be faster than a speeding bullet otherwise it would make no sense to say that about him as one of the classic Superman descriptions. They would've said "as fast as a speeding bullet".

And if he's only as fast as one, how could he ever catch one to save someone from it? He'd only just reach there only to see that person shot because he wasn't fast enough.

Feel like this has to be an Earth-based story. I know people like the cosmic stories, so do I, but Supes kinda has to stay Earth-bound to fight the (incorrect) myth that Superman isn’t relatable.

More than that, I want them to do what Morrison talked about in their novel, and get Superman back to his socialist working-class works. He needs to be the Everyman who fights for the common person.

I LOVE the cosmic stories, but would never want that for a first film. Supes' foundations have to be laid first, and those are on Earth.

There should be some Superman TAS and Justice League influences plus fun stuff like this:

It will be a damn miracle if J'onn shows up at all, I fear. It really feels like they're giving the Lanterns the role he'd play.

It is interesting it’s called superman legacy. Maybe they’ll skip right to him having kids? But that’s sort of what’s happening in the telly series

Not if they're saying he's supposed to be 25 lol.

I do remember, but I still feel like dialing him back just a little compared to the dceu version would lend the movie to more dramatic storytelling. Back In MoS he's fighting kryptonians just as strong and even more skilled than he and doesn't get a scratch or even a hair out of place. Even in JL when he takes a shot from steppenwolfs axe, theres no anticipation or suspense. If he's that strong whats the point in a JL?

In the dcu if he get struck by lightning from livewire or shot with a high powered laser from lex I want it to hurt, I want bullets to actually annoy him, they don't have to break the skin and make him bleed but him admitting to Lois that they sting would be cool. Just show that yes he's the man of steel but he's not completely invulnerable.

I'll NEVER buy into the "Supes needs to be nerfed to be interesting" approach. As always, team Busiek on that front. Paraphrasing a recent quote from him: the way you make a guy who can punch through a mountain interesting is by giving him a conflict that can't be solved by punching through a mountain. Anything else is just laziness, imo.

No let's age him like 20 years with skeleton cheekbones and make him weak to electricity. :o

I hear you but weakening takes away what make Superman special. There is a reason he is the greatest Superhero. Why Darkseid wants his DNA, Why does Batman fear him and loves him, Why Lex is jealous of him, Why Wonder Woman thinks he is worthy, and why he is the leader of the Justice League. I can’t speak for you but the comics about Superman deaths with Doomsday and All-Star Superman hit me in such a way. I will say this there should not be to many Kriptonians running around like In Man of Steel. They should stick to Zod and Faura in the phantom zone. Kal and Kara should be the only kryptonians who are free. Kara should be in the futuristic time line because I will never understand how anything is threatening the earth with two kryptonians protecting earth.:D:word::wow:

That plus the flash, Batman, Wonder Woman, Green Lantern and whoever else... It baffles me also, it's why prefer solo films with no other superheros.

I mean marvel gets away with it but I still sit and wonder why no one else shows up.

I don't want him nerfed to the point being unrecognizable, but just a little less compared to dceu version. I still want him to have insane strength, speed and invulnerability. But when I see TaS or even Superman Vs the Elite, those versions of him are clearly strong but he can and was beaten by his foes and needed to figure out other ways to beat them than just brute strength.

I don't want to take the "super" out of superman, but there's a reason that scene in JLU works so well. I don't want kryptonite to be the only thing that can beat superman.

If anything but kryptonite can kill Superman then he is not Superman. I can live with magic, lightning, or Wonder Woman/New God level of being hurting him but they can’t kill him. Superman’s weakness should always be protecting mankind from itself or extraterrestrial villains.

Sure I agree with that, but I don't buy the idea that Kryptonite should be the only think that can kill superman. Obviously there's Doomsday, I think Parasite could have the potential to kill him, brainiac, Darkseid as well. Superman should be allowed to get whooped is all I'm truly getting at. Not to say anyone should kill superman, but his foes should be dangerous enough that if he's not on his toes they COULD kill him. But if he's so astronomically strong and can't be beaten, what's the point in having a physical antagonist? If he never loses you have no real sense of tension in a fight ever because he never loses or never even fears for his life. Krytonite can't be used everytime you want threaten his life (Obviously his love for humanity is his true vulnerability) Superman should be allowed to lose a fight so that he can comeback and over come the threat.

If kryptonite is the only thing that can kill Superman then that means you would have to use it in every movie when you want to put Superman in danger. That's a bit repetitive.

This is why massively superpowered villains like Brainiac, Parasite, etc exist.

If he can shatter mountains, move planets, and nothing but kryptonite can harm him, then what's the point of having other heroes?

He should still be the strongest hero by far, but just not planet moving strong.
A villain like parasite should be able to harm him.

I see it like this.
Batman is the smartest.
WW is the warrior.
Flash is the fastest.
But Superman has the heart and the strength. The moral compass.
He reigns WW and Batman in from going too far against villains, and is a mentor to the Flash.
Other heroes around the world look up to him.

That is exactly why I want superman to be a little more like his DCAU counterpart. Not to make him weak, but not so omnipotent that he can beat everyone everytime, and Kryptonite is the only thing that can kill him. His villains have to not only be a threat to humanity but a threat to superman himself because he's what stands between them and the destruction of the world.

He should obviously be bullet proof, but a direct hit by multiple tank shells or missile strikes should knock him back a few steps, even bruise him, but he heals fast and recovers.

Superman doesn't need to be more physically vulnerable, to be relatable

even if Superman is so OP that he could end any fight/anyone with a single blow (One Man Punch style) it's the moral decisions he faces during those fights that make him relatable

not every scenario is going to require that level of physicality... and he has too know when to hold back on his strength to not just straight up kill the enemy in question, or when his actions might put others at risk

it's like dropping a nuke on a city to stop one person... the ends doesn't justify the means

precisely this. I think that’s why the “he’s Batman but superman” approach the last time was a big factor in justice league not working as a dynamic. In the end it did no one any favours not even Batman.
