i'm not talking about ghosts, serial killers, blood, gore, demons, hauntings, or anything like that. i'm talking about something that could kill not only you, but millions of other people around the world...global warming and it's effects...

http://www.apple.com/trailers/paramount_classics/aninconvenienttruth/trailer/

...in my humble opinion, anyone who cares for our Earth, humanity as a whole, or even friends and family should see this film. humanity has such awesome power to create great things but here we are...on the brink of something horrible.

please, if you have any negative thoughts about Al Gore put them aside because this is not about Al Gore...this about humanity (as a whole) being able (or not) to see a major/global problem and to see if we're smart enough to do something about it or not before it's too late. it's not political....it's moral. it's not about popularity or glory....it's about survival.

don't close your mind and shrug this off as just another "scare tactic". this is the real deal...and if we, as humans, don't collectively do something soon.....it could become VERY real.

and sorry if there's already a topic on this...i did a search and i didn't find anything on it.

I already saw The Day After Tomorrow. I went out and hugged every tree I could find.

OMIGOD! Who cares?!

thanks for providing this thread with an immature statement instead of actually providing insight on the film. it wouldn't be Hype if this thread went without a dumb reply.

i can take humor (sequel to Day After Tomorrow) but ingorance annoys me.

as for your question "who cares?"......i can TOTALLY understand why no one would care about the well being of our planet or the survival of our species! it's that kind of thinking that keeps mankind from being a greater people than we CAN be...

WAIT A MINUTE!

Wasn't "Slither" supposed to be the scariest movie ever, scarier than any other movie has ever been?

At least that's what I got from the trailer.

Awhile back on CSPAN I saw a rather compelling argument made against global warming. It made some really good points.

Unfortunately, I remember none of them.

Read the book State of Fear.

Seriously, I no longer believe in global warming. Bunch of hogwash.

This movie was clearly made by a bunch of fear-mongers. The trailer was ridiculously and unnecessarily full of things meant only to create a stir. There are better ways of creating awareness.

My post was a sarcastic response to the trailer and not necessarily my opinion on global warming.

global warming is a bunch of BS mate. The earth is just warming back up again after the ice age, and it'll get very hot soon (a few thousand years) but then after it reaches the peak of that the earth will start to cool down again and will go back to an ice age

There's a degree of truth to that, Inferno, but that doesn't take into account the fact that we've still had a hand in expediting the process, to say nothing about the hole in the ozone layer.

Look no doubt we have "helped" it a bit. But the earth she's a tough old cookie. By the time it reaches the temperatures that is generally thought it would reach we will be long gone (talking about as a species as well.) And Earth will start all over. She's like an ectha sketch. She gets anoyed does a shake up and starts over.

global warming is just a diversionary tactic to take attention away from the true and immediate threat...man-bear pig.

Global Warning is not proven. Most research about it was done under the table because no one gave a ****. I think the strongest case that can be made is that we are speeding up a process which is already happening by itself.

so.....speeding up the process is perfectly fine with you guys? sure! let's shorten the Earth's process so that more people will die sooner!

great ethic you guys have...:o

movies205...global warming HAS been proven (just like global cooling has)...but even if we aren't CAUSING global warming, a couple of the posters here have admitted that we're probably helping the process move faster. and doing so could bring about stronger storms (more Hurrican Katrinas) and the like.

also....i love how you guys seem to know more than the scientists who've put their careers on the line to support this film. you guys dismiss the whole film as insignificant without having seen or heard anymore than 2 minutes of it.

did it ever occur to you guys that maybe.....just MAYBE, he's right? or that maybe he could PARTIALLY right? of course not.......he's totally wrong because we're not experiencing it while we're sitting in front of our monitors typing away in the safety of our homes....right?

I thought Micheal Jackson was the scariest thing ever.

Put their careers on the line? Global warming is the biggest left-wing bandwagon since post-civil rights movement racism. If anything they'll be praised by the left and all the kids who are taught that global warming is absolutely fool proof fact. I know that's what I learned in school. Imagine my suprise when I found out it was a debated issue. Same with evolution. I never even knew there sides on these until high school and then I learned about it out of class. Wierd, huh? But don't worry, these scientists aren't in any carreerical danger.

Unfortunatley, when it comes to the issue of global warming, everyone suddenly becomes an expert in world climate and enviromental science.

what if this IS a left-wing bandwagon? you're just gonna brush it off JUST BECAUSE of that? are you so narrowminded that anything that's a left-wing bandwagon is automatically disregarded by you? you're one of the many who're throwing this film aside without even watching part of it...

but you learned all about global warming from high school, right? oh well then...i guess i shouldn't trust what world renowned scientists (who've earned their masters in this kind of stuff) have to say!

even IF (that's an "IF" because us internet nerds don't know all the facts yet) we aren't the CAUSE of global warming, we COULD be unnecessarily speeding up the process and creating worse weather sooner than we need to be.

and oh yeah...i'd suggest not using "careerical" if you want to be taken seriously...as it is not an actual word.
