Transformers This is how transformers should have been approached

They can physically transform though. Do you really and truly think that the movie designs can realistically transform into their alt modes? What is all this talk in the script about morphing and nanometals then? I SERIOUSLY doubt that The slimmed down Optimus Prime we've seen from the movie designs can realistically transform into a long-nosed semi without cheating (parts going nowhere) in the transformation process.

There has to be cheating somewhere. My question is: Are the TF made entirely out of one material(nanometals) that are able to immitate other materials like glass? If thats the case its a big cheat but I think its a necessary one. Otherwise how the hell are leather seats, plastic interior panels and such transforming away into a sleak looking robot?

That's a great point.

Bunk has a good point, and I accept that. I just don't like the fact that they explained the new designs as realistic versions of the old blocky designs when in fact they probably will not be realistically transformable.

Especially since you can easily explain a lot of the stuff IF you introduce the Ark. The Ark was what "tweaked" them to have leather seats and whatever other extraneous things were not part of them intrinsically as robots. The nanometal T2 rip-off thing is very much an easy way out- a cop out- of what could have been a thought-provoking sci-fi concept....

... and it makes them seem more like Changelings (of ST Deep Space Nine) rather then TRANSFORMERS IMHO.

The closest thing we've seen to transformation was the small video during the ET story a long time ago. With Barricade pulling up nearly hitting Spike, then transforming.

Yeah, you're right...you are beating a dead horse. 99% of what we do here is speculation...got anything else to add to the conversation?

In all my years, I never wondered what happened to the seats when they transform. WTF!!!!!!!!

Me neither, but I've never seen the word "realistic" used so much for TransFormers. :csad:

yeah i'll add something. stop stating your speculations as facts. you don't know what you're talking about.

how about you look up the meaning of the word "morph" because the definition is "transform" THEY MEAN THE SAME GOD DAMN THING. your speculations are completely off base just because you don't agree with the way the script is worded.

you and CFlash actually want this movie to be terrible, that the only reason you two complain so much.

EDIT: http://dictionary.reference.com/browse/morph there you go you cry baby.

Though semantically they are the same (they both mean "change"), you should know that in popular usage- especially when relating to cartoons/characters/sci-fi stuff like this- they mean completely different things.

And we don't agree with the way the TRANSFORMERS script is worded because TRANSFORMERS were never originally meant to be the sort of at-will "changealings" that they seem to be in this movie. It took the power of supercomputer to reformat them and they didn't just stop in their track put their finger in the air and say "hey! I think today I'll be a vase."
Which is essentially what Bumblebee does when he decides to MORPH into a 2007 Camaro from an old one ON A WHIM.

Got it? Good.

"in popular usage.. blah blah blahblah blah..."

no, the definition of morph is transform.

got it? good.

Nope. Sorry Mr Linguistics expert (*cough*).
They both mean to change or convert... but they have two distinct definitions with two different connotations. Morph BTW is short for Metamorphose...

metamorphose : To change into a wholly different form or appearance.
transform: To change markedly the appearance or form of.

Of course you have all right to remain ignorant. Everyone else in these forums seems to be able to grasp the difference but you.

^ ^ ^
P.S.
And if you don't know the difference between wholly different and markedly there's not much hope for you.

by the way, the definitions you posted prove my point and not yours.

lololololololol, just stop, you idiot.

no, you have difficulty grasping that they mean the same thing. you are so desperate to complain about this movie that you make up your own definitions for words.

did you not bother to read the definitions that you yourself posted?

You left out the part that says
Short for Metamorphose.
And, BTW, both the part that says "special effects" and the "villain into a snake" support everybody else's firm grasp of the difference between the two words.

In any case, they both mean change. And they both have different connotations. You might not want to conceede that fact, but it doesn't mean the rest of the English speaking world can't grasp it.

Mighty Transforming Power Ranger would have a different ring and a different connotation in people minds and you know it.

Why am I arguing with the resident Troll? Sheesh.
