When Connors called Peter and told him more about the symbiote,you could see he was becoming keen on studying it. So things could have picked up from there on him developing the serum.

But WHY in the holy name of God did they make him as a physicist in the first place for? I think that was their way of locking down and showing people that Connors wouldn't be the Lizard in the franchise,or so they thought at the time.

They really did screw up on a lot of things.

Let's hope the new director actually knows something about Spider-Man. I'm convinced that Raimi wasn't even a fan of the character, no Spider-Man fan could get that much basic stuff so wrong about the character.

How dare Raimi adapt a comic book and campy Saturday morning cartoon show into one of the most successful superhero and movie franchises in history with two of his three movies adored by the vast majority of fans and critics. How idiotic to say that the man wasn't a fan.

Spider-Man 3 had nothing to do with Sony rebooting the franchise...

If it was, they would have just rebooted the series back in 2007-08, instead of wasting over 2 years developing another film with Raimi and Maguire.

SM3 was a main reason for the reboot. Escalating salaries number one. Number two, they ran themselves into a dead end and could not settle on a story for SM4. Three, the fact that they are rebooting isn't a knock on the financial potential of the franchise. It's a vote of confidence, outside of "we need to keep the rights", that this can still be viable without the previous staples. 4-5 years is the sort of minimum you need before you can start over. They weren't going to reboot two years after SM3, even if they knew SM4 was in deep **** all along. They were either doing a sequel trilogy or a different take, and they didn't waste much time by the looks of things all things considered.

Well I think the bs idea of SM3 being a reason for a reboot was because "It sucked and everyone hated it". That idea is bs because that movie did better then the two previous films. Obviously the general public was very pleased with the film.

But the idea that is was simply getting very expensive makes perfect sense. Sony sees less and less when the actors and director take more of a cut from the profits.

Honestly I will not care if Peter is not in high school. Hell I hope its just like how the comics do. Different writers and artist stop a new story that may or may not relate to a previous one. Spiderman stood out back in the day because he was surround by a bunch of adult superheroes. He was the new kid on the block. In the movie world he may as well be middle age. I like college spiderman. We don't get that teen angst that in my opinion drags down many stories.

Tobey really was getting too old and hell I think the movies were taking its toll. he never physically bounced back to his spiderman 1 level.

Aside from tiny little nitpick details that have varied over the course of Spider-Man's almost 50 years, what did Raimi get wrong?

The problem was an excess of cheese and we all know that. Yes, that might work in comics and on Saturday morning cartoons but was unbearable in a movie. I liked Tobey at first but the tone of the forced comedy and his faces made want somebody else. And Kirsten was never good to start with.

Re-quel, sequel, vague sequel, whatever it is I have at least a chance to see a better, hopefully more serious (and I mean 'more serious' not '100% humour-free TDK-gritty'), approach to Spiderman.

Any post that demands something of a character but cannot correctly spell that character's name is null and void.

It isn't like that situation at all. A lot of fans moan about the movie on the net, but don't let that get in the way of the facts of the matter. spider-man 3 was not universally panned, it got mixed reviews, generally it got 3, 3 and a half out of 5 reviews(it got 3 and half stars in Empire mag for instance).
Whereas B&R generally got 1 star reviews(I saw a couple of one star reviews), it relaly was one of those watershed turkeys, in no way comparable to Spider-man3.

Spider-man 3 made about 750mil or thereabouts, over 3 times what B&R did.

The plans to make Batman 5 were put into place before B&R was released(the script was written before B&R was released), as soon as the movie got it's turkey reception the Batman 5 plans were scrapped, so there were no more discussions on making it, even after B&R made it's money back.

Spider-man 4 was not made because Sony did not want to pay out escalating costs to the people who had made them all that money, and whether through fault or design, they could not settle on a story with Raimi and co.

I think it did. It desperately needed one. WB got themselves into a deep hole and they went too far with what they wanted and it was a disaster. The character needed it. He became a joke.

Spider-Man did need to reboot in my eyes. The formula of the movies was just getting far too repetitive and therefore,predictable. You could just smell what was going to happen. I have no doubt it wouldnt have been different in 4,just the same.

Sam was REALLY shoveling the camp crap into it. The Twist? The Saturday Night Fever strut down the street while James Brown was singing? The Club scene? The Parade scene? In the immortal words of the AVGN,"WHAT WERE THEY THINKING"?.

As I said,they all thought it was going to be the last film,so they treat it like that. Like the last day of school,where you dont do any work and just goof around with your friends until the bell rings.

I want to see Webb do the REAL Spider-Man. No more of 'Sam Raimi's Version Of Spider-Man'.

You really think that? The only other way to really stop Batman from being humiliated further was to do a reboot, or another Burton and Keaton film....which wasn't so likely anymore...
