Endgame Thor/God of Thunder - Chris Hemsworth

loved what that they did with Thor. added more to his journey, could really feel the depth of his hurt and liked the added comedic angle. the fact that it has created some polarity on his use in this film is genius. he is fast becoming the character that may get the most longevity out of this marvel universe. He has places to go with his character, not only a new path, but different looks. just brillant . even if you did not enjoy this characterisation in this film, it was definitely memorable and his character is going to outlast the rest if Marvel are smart. use Hemsworth up in this experimental fashion. great stuff and dont worry about the whingers on this one. they will be back because they are so upset which is so clever. sucked them right in!

The more i think about Thor's part in AEG the more i understand what they did with the character.
Thor could very well be treated/used as a Deus Ex Machina type character but he is so much more and that's what makes him such a great and multi-layered character.

When looking at AEG one has to take IW into consideration because they are 2 parts of the same movie. Thor was the MVP in IW and he finished that movie in a all time high, he overshadowed most of the other characters and IW was basically the arcs of Thor and Thanos clashing together. Going into AEG we knew that the characters in the forefront of IW would take somewhat of a backseat in AEG.

AEG was not the end of Thor's journey. But it was was the final chapter for Iron Man, Captain America... These characters needed the most screen time in order to give their arcs a satisfying resolution. Characters like Banner/Hulk, Hawkeye... also needed a lot of attention since they where mostly absent from IW. These are team movies and they need to strike a balance in order to give everyone proper time and not let anyone overshadow the others too much. And that becomes even more apparent when it's the end of the journey for so many of these characters.

Once again Thor's journey isn't over. The character has grown so much and is seen as an integral part of the MCU's future. Out of all the original characters, Thor is the one that has his MCU future set... The character isn't going anywhere, he's not dead, he isn't retiring, he isn't going to be featured in the Disney streaming service...

Thor is one of the corner stones of the MCU and right now he's the character that might indeed have the biggest longevity in the cinematic universe. And this is accomplished because of Thor's new found groove, ever since Ragnarok the character's popularity grew exponentially, thanks to Taika Waititi's inspired direction and Chris Hemsworth charismatic, endearing, badass, dramatic and funny portrayal of Thor.

While IW established an all time high for Thor, AEG worked as a way of bringing him down a notch in order to give the character enough margin for a comeback, surging once again as the badass character that he really is. Both IW and AEG work for the character in different ways. AEG was a bold choice for the character but one that also further increase the character appeal which lines up perfectly with who he was paired with.

I always liked Thor but Ragnarok really laid the ground work for loving the character while IW solidified that belief. AEG doesn't change anything. If something it adds even more layers and relatability to the character.

Yeh the bearded long hair look worked very well. It's my second favorite look for Thor.
He really looks like a badass viking now. Slim him down a bit, trim a bit here, there and that's the perfect look.

A slimmed down version of Thor from the final battle of Endgame is the perfect look for Thor.

That version of Thor reminded me of his grandfather Bor.

I want this Thor to have a lot more movies. They don't need to rush the character into nothing, just let him hang around being featured in several MCU chapters. There's still so much to be explored with the character mythos, Warrior Madness, BRB, Uru arm, Mangog, Midgard Serpent, Gorr, Hercules, Celestials, Eternals, Silver Surfer, Galactus... My biggest dream would be to see this one day in the big screen.

It would have been a bit pointless (and expensive) to bring Natalie on set for a scene that would have lasted no more than a minute.

They were better off using the footage from TDW.

Thor should have been given something important to do that would have made up for his failure to kill Thanos and avenge his people.

I just don't get what Thor's arc was supposed to be in this film. Nor did I see him as important to the story. You could have him replaced by another character and it still wouldn't have made a big difference. [/spoiler]

Now in regards to the film itself, while I did have other issues, I overall enjoyed most of it. For better or for worse, it was a fitting conclusion for several characters and story lines. I don't think I will be able to see it again simply because of how long it is and how busy I normally am from work. I might see it again once it's available for digital release.

If the movie is taken at face value - Thor's purpose was inevitably to ensure the Mjolnir was there for Cap to use (I mean how else was he supposed to stand in a fight against Thanos) and then to take off with the Guardians for future maximum BO $$$. So basically a plot and revenue device.

It pains me to say it because he is by far and away my favorite MCU character and I did enjoy the gag in this film up until the 3rd act. But by and large he's been bottlenecked throughout the course of the franchise history. Part of that is due to the Superman-effect. Perhaps he will get unleashed out in the cosmo with the GOTG. Odds aren't good, but who knows.

A set of directors who really knew how to bring that 3rd act together would've shown IM, Cap, and Thor all playing off each other vs. Thanos. The closest we got to that was Thor powering up IM. Instead the directors chose to keep cutting away from the fight and splintering the heroes off.

It's all there. It's just the way Stormbreaker is shown which kind of conceal the whole weapon.
But if you pause and look at it closely you can see the axe edge in the from and the hammer side on the back.

It's interesting hearing that perspective juxtaposed against what I'm hearing a lot out there from others-- keeping in mind nobody is right or wrong its just about how u personally experienced Thor and how it left you.
