Sequels Thor: Love and Thunder

But do people really want to see Chris reprise his role as Thor for several more years if he's only going to be portrayed as a lesser version of the actual character and where he's presented as more of a joke?
I want the fun, badass and emotional version we've been getting across the last 3 movies instead of the dullard we got for the first 4, so...yeah. :D

So a person is a troll for simply having a different opinion, based on legitimate concerns?

This would have been the ideal time to bring back sif and establish her as the true leading lady in Thor's life.

Agreed.

And I'm one of the people who really liked Portman in the first 2 films, but I think the Thor/Jane romance should be left as something that was doomed to never work.

Ragnarok & Infinity War Thor, yep.

Endgame Thor, not so much.

If EG is only a taste of what we can expect to see out of his character for the entire next phase of the MCU then I would rather not see him at all. I don't need to see him portrayed as a useless fat joke just so that they can make Jane-Thor and Valkerie look like bigger badasses.

And seeing as how they can't really milk anything more out of the Thor and Jane romance and how Valkerie isn't into Thor, then the only potential leading love story that's left is one between Jane and Valkerie.
Apparently yes, because it is the top trending things from the Marvel presentation.

By Odin's beard, herolee do you really think your take on how audiences are recieving Thor makes sense in the context of how beloved he is? Also, you think Taika don't know what he is doing? Really?

I am excited about Jane, simply as we might finally get a representation of her that doesn't make her the ditzy girlfriend. Also something that always rubbed me the wrong way. They wrote her that way, and then seemed to blame the character and Portman for that.

I've got nothing against Sif as a character, but Jaimie Alexander royally sucks, imo. I suffered through a whole season of Blindspot with my Dad thinking Sully Stapleton would be the drag on the show, but nope, it was her. I have no desire to see her back.

Honestly, my favorite portrayal of Thor was from Ragnarok and Endgame. Not too serious and not presented as a useless joke.

If we could get more of THAT Thor then I'd be all up for it. Though I feel like with the Russos comments about his new personality (after gaining weight) and appearance being a permanent thing now along with how Jane-Thor and Valkerie are pretty much being positioned as his replacements, it's hard to get excited at all.

I loved 'em all.
Which makes sense. As it is all pretty much the same Thor, as he naturally evolves. As a big Thor fan, it is hard to explain how much I loved the post AoU reset. I really liked Hemsworth's Thor beforehand, almost in spite of the material. You could see the potential there. Taika helped unleash that full potential, and the Russos kept that train going.

Have you ever considered like...calming down?

I don't get why so many get so irritated whenever I get upset about the creative decisions regarding one of my favorite characters yet when other people do the same they just let it go.

I like(d) Thor. He was one of my favorite MCU characters. So I'm not sorry at all in expressing my disappointment for his cinematic future.

Agreed. Thor's arc has not been "useless" in ANY of his last 3 appearances.

They must have paid Portman a **** ton of money to come back. Even then, did anyone actually like her character over two films?

I say this as someone who is super attracted to her and watched 3 seasons of Blindspot because of it. You are not wrong. But I love the character, I believe Taika could make it work, and I really could do with my favorite canon Marvel couple. But I guess I could live with Thor and Padme. :hehe:

I'm referring to your position that, because they've got Jane Thor and Valkyrie's Queen while Thor's doing his thing, he might as well not be in it. You say you like him in Ragnarok and Endgame, so why this expectation that suddenly he's going to be terrible?

It is useless if all you measure a character by is their power level and how badass they come off in a superficial manner.

What has been crafted over the last three movies, finally put Thor on the Tony and Cap's level of character arc. Which kind of makes it fitting that he is the one still around. As unlike the other two, who came to a natural conclusion, Thor is midway through his.

Not once have I stated that my views of Thor represents the opinions of all fans of the character.

I know that there are those who don't care about any of the changes that have been made to the character and simply embrace the character period.

I'm just worried that Thor may lose his place in favor of Valkerie and Jane's new role. Thor's character is in a completely different place than he was, creatively, at the start and end of Ragnarok. And even though I enjoyed Ragnarok; I still consider Taika to be somewhat of a weird dude and worry that he will make things uncomfortably weirder for the character in his next take.

I didn't think that Thor would give up his crown to Valkerie and become a useless fat joke two films later. Nor did I think that we would see Jane again and as the new Thor.

Because it's like all you do these days. To the point where some of us can't even decide if you're serious anymore or just trolling. I haven't even seen you around these boards for the last few weeks - not 'til there was news about Thor and Superman, so - like clockwork - you show up just to come on and say how whatever they do with them will suck. The predictability of it wears thin on people over time, like a broken record.

Personally, I always thought that Lynn Collins would have been a better choice for the role of Sif; especially if the character had been portrayed as the female lead in Thor's franchise.

Good thing that didn't happen then.

You are defining Thor in a very bizarre way. Thor is Thor. We know who he is. We know how powerful he is. He isn't "losing his place". He is evolving as a character. Which is exactly how it is suppose to work.

Thor has been gradually turned into a joke over the last 3 movies. This isn't really that shocking a move if we're honest.

There hasn't been much to talk about int he past few weeks.

If we had gotten news saying that Snyder's cut of JL was going to be released or that we were going to get an "Knights of the Old Republic" Star Wars film after Episode 9 then I would have definitely made time to post my response about that.

Correction; I liked him in "Ragnarok" and "Infinity War". I can't say the same for "Endgame".

The reason why my expectations are different now is because of where the character is currently at after his appearance in "Endgame". He is no longer King of Asgard (and from the sounds of it, they have no plans on ever returning the throne to his character). Also, he has been mainly portrayed as a joke since gaining weight as well.

So when you have Jane becoming the new Thor and Valkerie ruling Asgard, what more could Chris's Thor possibly contribute other than comic relief?

It would have never have happened, by my Sif would have been Keira Knightley. But I also would have written Sif as a character worth the time and effort.
