I was just thinking that Thor's story probably would be told mostly in Asgard. He probably want come down to earth unit the end of the movie. Tell me what do you guys think? If they tell the story right were talking about a 3 hour movie.

I also think Asgard want be based on myth but Alien

Kevin Feige has said the film be 2/3 Asgard, 1/3 Earth.

I hope that Asgard looks more like Coipel's, Simonson's or Scott Eaton's Asgard over the Kirby Theme park looking version myself.
Yeah I know they're gods, but who says the buildings have to look futuristic?

I hope they just go with a more Viking-esque look. Coipel's is too medieval and Kirby's is too futuristic for my tastes. Simonson's would be cool.

I'll be happy with vikingesque architecture without the primitive materials and some nods to Kirby.

So what is the story ?

Well here is the basis of the story.

The movie's story centers on Thor, a powerful but arrogant warrior whose reckless actions re-ignite an ancient war. As punishment, Thor is cast down to Earth and forced to live among humans. Once here, he learns what it takes to be a true hero when the most dangerous villain of his world sends dark forces of Asgard to invade Earth.

I prefer Kirbys look of asgard. The futuristic looks remind me of something Alien and not Myth. Not to say that Aliens are real they just feel more grounded than myth now days:wow:

Personally, I hope the movie is very clear that the Asgardians are indeed the Asgardian gods, not some rinky-dink random aliens. It always bugs me when the comics try to reduce the Asgardians to maybe being aliens from another dimension or something like that.

Remember that this movie has to fit into all the rest of the movies like puzzle.
Iron Man
Hulk
captain America
Avengers

Unless they make Thor very weak when comes to earth.

Well Hulk is amazingly strong in TIH, so why not Thor? As for the alien aspect I have to say that I really hope and pray that they do not go that route. I think that the Asgardian gods could be handled quite well if they treat Thor's interaction with the other Avengers somewhat like they did in The Ultimates. Please don't flame me, I know that Ult. Thor was horrid in SO many ways, but I actually liked how the rest of the team thought he might be delusional about being a "God". Only Thor (and the audience) would know the events in Asgard leading up to his banishment to Earth. The others can all debate that he might be an alien due to his incredible powers, but since the main villain will obviously be Loki, than maybe in his defeat the truth of Thor's lineage will become clear to all.

Sounds good.

Other people thinking Thor's not really a god was part of the mainstream Marvel universe long, long before the Ultimate universe. They just took it to a ridiculous extreme in the Ultimate universe by having everyone think he's actually crazy and having him committed or whatever--much the same as they took Hank hitting Jan once in the midst of a total mental breakdown from the mainstream comics and turned it into Hank being a sadistic wifebeater who tried to kill Jan with bug spray. The main difference between the Ultimate and main Marvel universes for Thor is that people in the latter simply respected his power and indulged him so he'd help them. Gradually, some people actually saw Asgard and started to really believe Thor, but it took a long time.

yea there is plently they could play with here with regular mortals believing in asgard and gods or thinking thor is just a super strong/ powered nutjob.

i see no reason why they wont be real gods.

Well lets thinking about it. The times we are living in now with Atheist being a growing population and over half of America believe that theirs life on other planets.:yay:

well we dont have to get into what it is really like in general world. but in the world marvel studios universe is.

I like Kirby's look best myself. I don't know if it will happen in the Thor movie, but I really want to see a movie where his designs are realized on screen. Visuals that imaginative shouldn't be wasted.

I love Kirby's style, but I think it'd be better suited to his wholly original creations like the Eternals or the New Gods.

it was posted in the news thread and other i believe.
