Those whose seen it - How likely do you think we will see Wolverine 2?

Thank God someone agrees with me about not seeing teen angst Gambit.

Thats one thing I liked about Evo(until the end with the fanservice romy) was despite all the drama on both teams, Gambit just didn't give a ****. It was great seeing a happy and carefree person amidst all the whining and pouting.

I would actually have Gambit work as a villain/ally/anti-hero in X-Men: First Class.

As long as it doesn't result in him barely showing up, I could get behind this idea. Sort of how Jack Sparrow, in the first movie, isn't neccesarily on anyone's team.

I have not seen the workprint and I refuse to. However I still believe even though the movie was leaked, and even if it is as bad as you guys are all saying, it most likely will make just enough money to get a sequel.

I think a sequel is going to depend less on the reviews and more on the total box office revenue quite frankly. The movie could get awful reviews (like X-3) but if it generates killer numbers we'll be seeing films for a while.

However depening on how it's recieved I think we might see First Class before Wolverine II...

I don't even think the box office will matter. Even if it underperforms Fox will most likely just blame it all on the leak.

They won't make another one if the film doesnt cross the $200 Million line, and if it only rounds that number then it'll take away from a sequel because they'll approve a smaller budget (FF2).

This either tanks and kills the franchise or banks and gets us another $120 Million Wolverine movie.

They will make another movie even if this one tanks because they will place the blame on the leak as Deaths said because their previous movies have done good enough to try one last time. If this tanks, then no Wolverine 2 but they will make another X ensemble film.

there's more to making a sequel than just "blame".

you gotta make money to spend money.

*the only reason they FINALLY shut down Tim Story and his PG heroes was that FF2 only brought in $132 Million - $23 Million LESS than the first film.

FOX then realized to make a Part III would be to either make a cheaper part III or to just waste money altogether.

X3's $234 Million greenlit Wolverine. Jackman was braggin about it just months after X3 had banked. It was a smart move for the studio because they only had to bring Jackman back. The film cost alot less and they saved an extra buck by having Jackman use his economical Australia (film) crew.

If Wolverine can't live up to its predecessor, if it can't at least make back its own budget, leak or no leak = FOX will shut down and 2012 WILL SUCK for me.

FF is no where near as recognized as X-Men. Wolverine is a huge draw hence why we are getting a Wolverine origins movie. They are testing the waters with an origin film and if it fails then they will try one last time with what worked at first before they give up the rights to a huge franchise. If this bombs big time and I mean big time, which I doubt, then I could see them just dropping it.

Why will 2012 suck? If they decide not to make another one then Marvel will get the rights and then make their own movie a year or two later. We will keep getting X-Men movies no matter what. It just differs on who we will get them from.

What is the deal with the rights to the characters in these movies - does being a mutant give FOX access to all characters under this banner?

I mean Deadpool isn't necessarily X_Men - would Marvel have had to OK his appearance in the movie and his final look???

If they did then they are STUPID!

I am thinking it will end up with 150... I am hoping it never reaches that mark but it probably will. I think 180-300 will guarantee at least one sequel or a spinoff at the very least.

I don't think there's going to be a Wolverine 2. What's left to tell. His history has been told. It's time for other characters (like Gambit, for example ;)) to get a chance to show their story.

I agree, $180 Million = sequel.

anything less = game over.

$300+ Million = Wolverine sequel, X-Men: First Class, Magneto and more.

actually there's a TON of stories left to tell.

starting with this one story where Wolverine goes to Japan...

Meh.... I think we've seen enough Wolverine for now...

Well theres also this other story we've been waiting to see since 2000. It's about a crippled guy and his team of mutant activists.....

If "now" means for the next 3 years, then yes.

If Wolverine returns, it won't be until the summer of 2012 - the summer where Marvel will try to pull off "The Avengers" :whatever:

We've already seen enough Wolverine with X2. I don't mind his own spin-offs, at least he doesn't steal anyone else's spotlight anymore.

Well, the only chance of that story being told rests on the shoulders of a man called Logan.

For First Class to happen, Wolverine needs to bank.

What's wrong with The Avengers?

Loved The Incredible Hulk, liked Iron Man, can't wait to see Mickey Rourke eclipse Downey in Iron Man II - but the idea of putting Norton and Downey in a movie together with Thor and Captain America is just too farfetched for me.

not feeling it at all.

*Downey has the same concern about the team movie.

2012 will be a horrible release for Fox considering Avengers and possibly BB3 will take those prime slots. Unless they want a June release. Even spinoffs like First Class and especially Magneto... they'd do better in the Fall or Spring.
