Days of Future Past How do you think DOFP will be remembered in the future to come?

I will remember DOFP as its the film I got to meet Hugh and James Mcavoy, It is also possibly the end for the cast I grew up with, it is also an amazing film! How I long for apoc now :D

I think DOFP broke the mold in demonstrating:

1) The climactic resolution does not have to be a fight or other conflict. DOFP's was a personal decision, and it was plenty dramatic.

2) The cool, audience-pleaser scene(s) does not have to be entirely CGI. Quicksilver's kitchen scene was innovative, and CGI had its role but wasn't the dominant driver.

The other legacy of DOFP:

3) McAvoy's acting. OK, a bit over the top in a few places, but he was playing an emotional wreck of a man - and you felt it.

Being able to rise above the standard movie conventions, and yet make the movie work as an epic, assures DOFP's place in history, IMHO.

I think they need to work on one thing for future X-Films, and that's that the X-Men are a superhero team, not some sort of isolated gang, meaning, they save people and they promote peace and coexistence.

Here's what I mean: In the original DOFP comic, Past Wolverine tries to injure someone physically but Storm (leader) commands him to stop, reminding him that the X-Men don't kill unless absolutely necessary. That message is altered on film. In DOFP, you have Past Xavier (leader) trying to trick a couple of guards into leaving the kitchens in the prison break scene. Wolverine instead knocks them out violently and Xavier does not get in his way. Message: violance > diplomacy.

Another case is X2, where Stryker, Jason and possibly other staff were left behind to die at the end of the film. Of course they were running out of time, but they definitely had the chance to save a few of them on the way out.

And, sure, they saved the attendees of the UN Summit (X1) and all mutants and humans alike (X2), but there are still a few details that, in my opinion, misrepresent the team's values.

It'll be remembered as being exactly what it is: a great film. It's a brilliant entry to the X-Men franchise & imo is the best film of the series to date. It intelligently acknowledges the errors introduced in previous movies & wipes them from the slate so that the series no longer has that baggage going forward.

Not to mention it's the first of the X-Men films to hit $700 million. That's a HUGE milestone for this franchise.
