Meh... The reviews arent phasing me at all. As a Tim Burton fan, I think the movie is made for me.

Tim Burton/Johnny Depp have become so big and so successful, that at some point Hollywood are gonna knock them waaaaaaaay back down... I can feel it starting already.

But like I said... Meh! As an individual im very happy with what I have seen so far.

I completely agree and couldn't have said it better myself. I am going in for an entertaining experience and I think I will leave the movie theater fulfilled by this one. Burton is always great and people are raving about Mia W. and Anne H.'s roles, so that is what I am most excited about honestly.

are you going to tatoo Jackie Chan as Mr Han on your chest?

JMC's review - spoiler free.

I'll throw in the disclaimer before hand that I am a big Tim Burton fan, I love his style, I love his tone, there's a quirkiness to his films that is appealing to me.

That said. Mr Burton dropped the ball severely with his Alice in Wonderland quasi-sequel, this film, which is not aided in anyway by 3D, is perhaps the director's most disappointing film. Ripe for the picking there was Wonderland, a wacky, twisted, zany world which is almost tailor made for him. Instead what was given to us was this mediocre fantasy realm with a bunch of characters that are as bland as butter without salt. Where the effing hell was Wonderland???

Basic plot, Wonderland is in ruins, The Red Queen has taken over and only Alice can save the day, blah, blah, blah, fill in the rest yourself. I'll be frank, Alice is boring, she spends the whole film trying to convince herself it's all a dream until a sudden flashback makes her realise 'Oh, I'm the one to save the day!' I don't think it's all Mia's fault, she had very little to work with in terms of character development, really there is none. Unfortunately for her she doesn't come off well in this film, I hope for her sake this role doesn't kill her career.

Other characters, well Depp's Mad Hatter is odd, and not in a good way, the character is haphazardly handled, he's not quite a mentor, not quite a hero, not quite the heart of the movie, he's not quite anything, he's just..well, there. And I have no idea what Depp was trying to achieve with the character, what ever it was meant to be missed the mark. The Red Queen, not much to say here, Carter really doesn't do anything special. Hathaway's White Queen is a blink and miss part (but man she looked gorgeous ;)), although I do liked the somewhat high on drugs portrayal she gave. Tweedledum and Tweedledee - wasted. Caterpillar - not much to report. Sadly, the only character that really lit up the screen and made me take notice was strangely enough the Chershire Cat, this was the only character to invoke what Wonderland should be, the Cat has this creepy, crazy, wackiness to its personality which is something every other character lacks.

Whilst I was open to the idea of this quasi-sequel to the books/animated film, in retrospect, this idea was a bad move. Wonderland really didn't need a 'third' story, the original source material is ripe for film adaptation as is. There's a brief sequence in this film which flashes back to the events of books one and two with young 7 year old Alice, scenes not too dissimilar from the animated film. That's the film that should have been made and I think Burton would have been better served had the focus been on adapting those books instead of trying to stick together bits and pieces and come up with a new story. Overall, disappointing, it get's a 6 from me.

As a post script, a little rant on this 3D crap. I'm sorry, but if this film is anything to go by, 3D may as well be dead already. Avatar was one thing, but this BS conversion from 2D to 3D is absolute bollocks, the 3D does absolutely nothing to enhance this film, in fact there were long parts were there's was sweet F-all 3D to notice. People keep crapping on that 3D is the future, well unless studios start implementing Avatar 3D technology it's future is gonna be very short lived.

not really big on writing huge reviews so just a quick one from me
saw it yesterday i thought it was a good movie, easy story and i thought all the actors did a good job, would've liked to see more of some of the characters though
the 3d was useless really :/

i'd give it 7/10
but the mad hatter's dance as out of place as it was....was epic so i give it 7.5/10

I'm going to the midnight show , this should be fantastic . Aside from all the mixed reviews I'm still optimistic.

Absolutely baffling, becuz that movie is a ****ing masterpiece of a magic film. Bowie owns that film.
Here here! I love it so much I bought it on DVD, and when I got a Blu-ray player I bought it on Blu-Ray.

T'was brillig in the slithy toves, did gyre and gimble in the wabe, all mimsy were the borogoves, and the momeraths engrabe.

Real talk for your ass.

Since the midnight showings are now underway, I figured I'd go ahead and add the poll.

she didnt learn anything about herself.. all she did was remember having been in the first film lol

not going to argue, it'll spoil the movie for others. there was more to it than just that though.

i heard that the Wonderland characters aren't as weird or illogical as their counterparts in the books or even the animated film.
