Kewel news tid bit:

An Armored Heroine for Tim Burton's Alice in Wonderland
Despite all the applause that his sneak peek drew at Comic-Con, Tim Burton is still nervous about Alice in Wonderland, reports the LA Times. Dealing with such a complex cocktail of special effects for the first time is driving him as mad as ... well, let's just say he's finding the experience extremely frustrating. As a result, Burton worries that he may be facing a potential logjam of visual effects work right up until the movie debuts in March 2010.

Burton has also set himself the daunting task of assembling an original collage of material drawn from the full range of Lewis Carroll's Alice works. A lot of the vibe he's aiming for in his adaptation of Alice, he says, was drawn from Jabberwocky, a hauntingly surreal poem constructed largely out of words that Carroll just made up. On top of that, he is putting together a complex inner life for his characters. Alice, he tells the Times, will evolve from an a wide-eyed and naive young girl into an empowered action heroine who sports her very own suit of armor — not something you'll find in any of Carroll's works

I like the tidbit, but now I feel like if/when I finish my fairytale piece, people are gonna think I was semi-copying from Burton's Wonderland.:csad:

Awesome art. I see a bit of a mark ryden's influence in the Queen's one. Also the first Hatter feels more like Steve Buscemi than like Depp:woot:. (come to think of it he would probably have made a great Mad Hatter.)

^You know I honestly didn't think of that but now I can see it. Those specs are like a hybrid of Ichabod's and Wonka's.

i think thats a fantastic promo pic. i like the glow thats coming from the windows. i also like the red tint.

the head will be an obvious '' gimmick'' 3D in your face but i accepted that Burton is very cheap when it comes to this.

Weird just because?

I've thought that about Burton and Gilliam sometimes, but then I see Brother's Grimm and say stick with what you're good at.

Yeah, I gotta dissagree with the author of this article.

Tim Burton and Gilliam have created a specific brand and style to their movies. Genius! I enjoy most of their movies and have no problem relating to their characters most of the time. I Didn't care for the Willy Wonka remake or Gilliam's Tideland, but for the most part, both their collections of works have been an entertaining joy ride thru their "weird" minds. Hollywood needs these directors and more like them!
