Hahahahaha, oh right, right. I love the cynical tone of your post.

there was always a big respect for Burton. i respected him as an artist. now it looks like he copy/pastes hes ''style'' on every movie.
thats not unique anymore.

Well... no other movies look like his movies, so they are still unique that way, no?

That's true. Sometime he said something about how frustrating Hollywood could be. They basically expect and demand you to do the same over an over (oh the formula) or else they're giving you a lot of problems because you might fail (at the BO) if you try something different.

I remember how many problems Burton got when he made Nightmare Before Christmas with that obsolete stop-motion technique or when he wanted to make Ed Wood black and white.

Hollywood is filled with examples like this; Al Pacino has been the same loud-voiced irascible character for decades now. Burton has succumbed too; the last thing I needed to see was an Alice in Wionderland by him. It's such a predictable choice with such predictable results.

I do think he needs cast Michael Keaton again for his projects. Like that Dark Shadows, Keaton might be better choise for the role of Barnaby. I love Johnny Depp but it would be nice to see Keaton in a big movie again. I wonder why Burton and Keaton haven't collaborated after Batman Returns... they almost did with Superman Lives, but that's it.

What's that in his fingers? he a leper or something? :D

A Hatter used to use mercury to make hats and mercury poising via skin absorption can make the skin pink in colour.

So there is an actual reason for why the Mad Hatter's fingers are coloured with pink patches.

I see. It's said in the book is it? Never read it you see...

Not a clue if it is in the book. I too haven't read it.

I just did a Google search and it said that Hatter's (hat makers) used to use mercury and this would lead to them inhaling the fumes which would make them crazy, so the saying "as mad as a hatter" could come from that, and their skin would be damaged.

It isn't said in the book that the mecury was what made him "mad" (I think) but it's assumed. The expression "mad as a hatter" was being used before Alice in Wonderland.

And you guys should read the books, they're wonderful. You get where British humour comes from when reading Alice or Through the Looking Glass.

The caterpillar.

**** yeah.

I have to say i'm really looking forward to thsi despite some of the horrendous CGI shown in the trailers. I always really like Tim Burton films, even if some of them may not be great, he always introduces some great unique idea/visual that is just worth the price of admission alone.. he really does a great job at continually bringing something new yet old and classic Burton at the same time... I always look forward to his films

Nice caterpillar picture. He always used to scare the crap out of me in the Disney film.

He does look like Rickman, doesn't he?

They showed this in 3D with Christmas Carol also. The damn cat comes OUT the ****ing screen at you.

You're right. He does sort of have the shape of Alan's face and his cheekbones.

I think it is awesome that they kinda of made the caterpillar look like the voice talent. Now when he speaks in the film we will be able to visualize Rickman in the caterpillars facial expressions. That poster is so vivid and I love the softness in the colors. It almost looks like a painting to me.

For some reason as a child he really got me feeling a bit scared and weirded out at the same time. I can't explain why either, he wasn't traditionally scary but something about him set me off.

I don't like how the posters say 'Amazing 3D'. More like outdated 3D. Most of these films that are using this improved 3D over old school 3D, it doesn't look that much better. Hopefully Avatar will change that.

It was the way he bullied and then blew up at Alice that terrified me. I can't remember what he was like in the book.
