Tim Burton's Dark Shadows - Part 2

The tones pretty much look like a mix of Beetlejuice's and Sleepy Hollow's to me. The former for the comedic tones, but the latter for the darker moments.
Agreed, and I think that seems like a pretty good mixture, tbh. Certainly better than Burton's more recent efforts featuring Depp in his too-weird-to-function mode.

Burton usually makes his main characters creepy yet innocent in a sense, but this time while the character does have some honor and means well, he's still not a very nice guy. I'd like to see how it plays out.

Good lord this is a beautiful film. Even if it ends up having nothing else going for it (unlikely), I still wouldn't regret paying to see these images on the big screen.

That would be cool to attend.

Why hasn't Danny won an Oscar yet?

It's a shame Eva hasn't really broken out in Hollywood... some of her choices have been quite poor.

The amount of Eva Green leg in that shot is both just right and not nearly enough. :o

Take out Depp and everything that I need is in that picture.

I wouldn't say poor... she just chose to make independant movies mostly with from time to time a blockbuster to remind everyone that she's out there ! I've rarely seen an actress with so much care about the roles she decides to embody ...

Anyone else get the feeling that Dark Shadows is gonna flop next weekend? The Avengers is a monster hit. So, it's definitely gonna continue to dominate for the rest of the month. I think Dark Shadows will be lucky if it opens with $20 million. Maybe WB should have released Dark Shadows in October. May was always a big gamble.

That is a big assumption.

I know and I respect that about her alot... but this 300 prequel has me scratching my head.

And sadly, yes... I feel like this movie will be deemed a flop. The marketing was started much to late, WB ultimately gave it a poor release date in the shadow of The Avengers, and the whole ''What exactly is the tone?'' has no doubt softened its impact.

But I'll be there regardless... It's my favorite director/actor/actress combo and it looks like Tim Burton's best movie since Big Fish.

So hey, I guess thats enough for me.

I'll be making an effort to see Dark Shadows ASAP. Burton's visual flavour is very much evident. Elfman's score is atmospheric. The story seems dark and quirky, which is prime Burton material. I like the actors. I still have confidence that it will be one of Burton's best movies.
