I will be watching this as soon as possible as well. Just for Eva. The material seen so far? Good lord.

Anyone else get the feeling that Dark Shadows is gonna flop next weekend? The Avengers is a monster hit. So, it's definitely gonna continue to dominate for the rest of the month. I think Dark Shadows will be lucky if it opens with $20 million. Maybe WB should have released Dark Shadows in October. May was always a big gamble.
I think it will open in second place with around $40 million and be able to cross $120 million at least domestically if it's good.
what will Mom want to see instead of Avengers?
they like macabre-esque soap operas.
Keep dreaming.
The Avengers has Robert Downey Jr, Chris Evans, and Chris Hemsworth. I think Moms will be just fine with the Avengers.
Listen to the entire score.

Seriously guys, listen to that prologue.
I see it pulling 40-50 million next weekend easily.
A week after the Avengers? You can't be serious.
What was this movie's production budget?
depp and burton alone will bring in 40 mill wont effect avengers at all.i see 40mill ow and over 100mill domestic.
Tell me the last time a Tim Burton movie that wasn't based off an already popular property (because Dark Shadows isn't a popular property) crossed $100 million domestic.

I don't know how many women above 20 really drool over movie stars like that. Over 60 percent of TA's audience was male and a good chunk of the close to 40 percent that was female were probably dragged by their boyfriends/husbands/children. Now when it is "their turn" the next weekend, they may want to see something else. And unlike traditional romantic comedy fare, DS can appeal to male audiences given the cast and subject matter.
