Tim Roth is Emil Blonsky/Abomination in The Incredible Hulk!

If Abomination only has FINNED ears to go by, than he is a pretty weakly designed character in the first place:)

...yes I know, green and scaley too...But who isn't green and scaley these days...

we got...Killer Croc, Lizard, Godzilla...

Abomination is a cool character, but he doesn't have much you can work with.

Personally, the new design is much more menacing.

hows that a poor design? lol... it's not like theres rules to a gamma bomb or comics at all

I don't know, I think he could've of been passed off as a Power Ranger personally

power ranger villain you mean.... :o but come on.. seriously? with a purple glider and orange bombs the idea wouldn't pop into your head "green goblin" hell almost anything on a glider like that would make me think a goblin from spider-man.

Well thats the thing, mentioning how crucial Leader's big head was is on the same par as pointing out that Abominations ears are key to his distinctiveness.

agrees.. i dont care if the leader has a testicle looking head, or a really elongated head... or any other shape... he just needs to have a big head..., it's like doc samson without green hair...

I do agree with ya, I just think this abomination design is actually not half-bad. I mean, for all intents and purposes, its really not the abomination at all, I don't even think he'll be called that in the film, outside of the name Emil Blonsky, there's really no connection, and just based off that, it could've been a lot worse IMO. I just watched it again in HD, and it really does make a difference, although I feel this new approach is all about style, which makes the ludicrous-ness of both their designs easier to swallow. Ang wanted ultra-realism and therefore any movement or scene where it was off, it really caught my attention more. For all intents and purposes, this Hulk looks more or less like an animated cartoon of sorts, kind of like the concept art come to life, which isn't a bad thing in my book. I'm still wondering what happened to the face though, it was much more brutish in that inital image, it's toned way down now...

Don’t forget the two toes. They are also part of his look ...
I like the new design, but I don’t think he should be called the Abomination. He looks reasonably different.

Louis Leterrier said:
" I really wanted to justify [Abomination’s] appearance. I really wanted to wrap my head around the original scaley-with-big-ears monster that was in the comic book, but I couldn’t justify it. The guy isn’t crossed with a fish; he’s not crossed with a lizard. Just like the Hulk he’s an über-human — his body, everything, grows out. And the way he gets injected with the serum, he’s shot in the skin and the muscles, and shot inside the spine. That makes his bones grow thicker and bigger and longer, making him a super-weapon. So he’s got that spine that flares out, which becomes a weapon. He’s got elbows that stick out and become these martial arts, Chinese knives — things that can slash back and forth. He’s got this tongue thing and the heel-spikes… so he’s a killing machine. It’s pretty cool, it’s funny. He’s got bones sticking out, so it becomes like an exo-skeleton which he uses as armour..."

That's a great, sensible explanation that I'm sure won't please the bigger Abom fans, but suits me just fine.

Let's take a look at Hulk's live-action rogue's gallery...

Future Swamp Thing Dick Durock as the ridiculous "Del Fry's creature." They didn't really fight so much as growl a lot.

Nick Nolte played David Banner in Ang Lee's Hulk. His Absorbing Man-like powers made for a cool CGI brawl, but in the end he turned into a giant jellyfish. Audiences left theatres baffled.

The new guy. Tim Roth as Emil Blonsky, we know him as the Abomination. Not quite the same as the comic but a darn cool movie monster nonetheless.
This looks like the brawl to end them all. Very cool redesign.
:bh: :abom:

Nick Nolte seems to be making a cameo in the first picture...

Well, here is what I have been trying to say the whole time. Straight from the director himself. He explains why it looks the way it does, and why it "MAKES SENSE":

Louis Leterrier Runs Through Hulk Trailer

March 13, 2008

Empire Online has posted a cool feature in which The Incredible Hulk director Louis Leterrier runs through the new teaser trailer that was released last night and explains action sequences, new characters, the CG and talks a lot about the design decisions he and Universal made on The Abomination. Here's a clip:

"I really wanted to justify [Abomination's] appearance. I really wanted to wrap my head around the original scaley-with-big-ears monster that was in the comic book, but I couldn't justify it. I think Abomination looks badass, too bad he looks like a cartoon while in action.

and yes...it is poor...because it doesn't make sense... (ONCE AGAIN).

LL said it himself, why would it make him into a big fish?

Poor design: ya, because he was just an oversized swamp creature for no reason.

Therefore the redesign in the movie is cooler

And I was just cracking a joke about the Leader's head, because if they didn't make his head big, than everyone would be all: "OH HIS HEAD ISNT BIG"

So anyways...my point has been proven by LL.

Im done with this debate. Because it has been confirmed why he looks that way...and "why it makes sense/is believable"

why would gamma radiation turn anyone into anything?

Has it been stated who Blonsky actually is? I mean in comics he's a KGB, but I don't suppose they'll be going with that, so any info on that matter?

why would gamma radiation turn anyone into anything?

For the sake of comic books, it does...

Why do people keep asking that?

Think about radiation, or some sort of chemical...anything...

if it is going to warp your body. It is going to do JUST THAT...WARP IT.

Not turn it into a fish or a dog or a cat...

--dk7

Im not trying to change anyone's mind here. You guys can all think what you want as Hulk fans.

Im just stating my opinion. So stop being immature about it and trying to prove that gamma doesnt do anything, or that this could happen for no reason bla bla bla.

Im looking at it from the same POV as LL...

That's all there is to it.

So accept that as my opinion, as I have accepted yours.

because I have seen no back up to any of your arguements.

well that good enough for me.

well that good enough for me.

lol, thankyou.

It's just my opinion, and I understand that is what you are looking for, I apologize for my last post, I thought you were trying to give me a hard time. (therefore don't let it be directed towards you, because I see that you are just curious as to what I was thinking. Not trying to give me a hard time)

i think abomination looks fine........but im no expert on him. some of the more comic correct fans are saying he needs ear fins/ structures. if they can i think they should ever so slightly add this characteristic just to rid this movie of any blemish. they designed abomination pretty well so far- im sure they could easily design and add some characteristic ear things that would look fitting and not over the top. 91 days til the film opens according to the counter on the web page- they have time- also if they did make a drastic change for the fans to make the film a little more accurate that would be incredible. communication between the film makers and the comic correct fans equal the ultimate movie

If you look close enough, Abomination has five toes in the trailer. Maybe this is one of the uncompleted shots?

Or maybe they just decided to give him five toes?

True, but it'd be more fodder for the whole toy-not-reflecting-the-film crowd.

Anyways, just mentioning it, since it was a big deal for some people and now completely forgotten now that they've seen the character in motion :D

I still don't consider this The abombination as is strays just too far from the character it's supposed to be portraying, however he does look like a very cool villian.

How many toes or fingers he has has never been a big deal if you ask me.

Well, for a lot of people on the board, it was. Since they weren't getting the ears or the scales, they were happy with the two toes.

Not sure how long you've been on this board, but that's how a lot of older Hulk fans felt at the time.
