TitanFall

Little late but I'm still reading Titanfall reaction from the beta and I just wanted to comment on the complaint against the AI. Yes, they are dumb as hell but they serve a purpose. I started off not enjoying this game because of my constant dying. Having all players in the map would've made that experience 10x's worse. Not everyone has the drive to push through constant frustration. Killing those AI's absolutely gave me confidence to keep going and I did eventually improve enough to fully enjoy the game for what it is. I know a lot people feel catering to casuals is a bad thing, but I think it works here. It made it a much more enjoyable experience for me.

That's why I think this game is going to be huuuge. It's not so much that's it's catering to casuals, but rather giving those types of players a chance to "be a bad ass" so to speak. If you aren't an experienced shooter fan/player you can still get in and wreck shop but at the same time there's enough of a challenge for those of higher skill. For instance I didn't find myself dying that often, I took to the game really quickly but I never felt I was dominating without any effort. Balance. The game is just extremely well balanced in every aspect. At least in the beta. All that's left for me to hope for is a good selection of maps.

I'm very curious how the Campaign-Multiplayer works. Is it basically gonna be Attrition with cut-scenes to bookend? I hope it's a little more than that but I'm glad they're trying something different. They're right in not forcing a single-player mode when they know their focus is multi.

I didnt even think they were gonna do that. I figured it just be some text then you jump into either Attrition or whatever.

I've seen some cutscene looking things online. Not sure if that's what they are.. But it'll be something, I'm sure, that will tie the game together.

I'm 96% sure they've confirmed any external works.

Oh nevermind, that's coming later.
they've confirmed its coming but it isnt currently an option and as mentioned, what restrictions if any remain to be seen

I wasn't interested in this at all at first but after seeing some gameplay videos it looks very cool.

I'm way more excited for Evolve. Titanfall just seems so meh...like, it'd be fun for a few days but then I'd lose interest. It's just looks like a regular shooter with a couple new additions. Maybe i'm just sick of deathmatch

There was enough to keep people playing, in just the Beta. The full game will prob keep players around for a loooong time. Much more so than Evolve will.

is there still sign ups for the PC beta? If so what is the link?

As long as Evolve doesn't have the gameplay feel that Left 4 Dead did. Because that sucked

I was surprised how long & how hooked the Titanfall Beta kept me. It reminds me a lot of when I first started playing Call of Duty. You sit down & think I'll play for an hour & then the next thing you know you look at the clock & it's about 3 hours later.

It's surprising though given it was only 2 maps & 3 game modes (even though I tended to only play 1). Usually if you are doing the same map(s) over & over you'd become tired of it & shut it off, but I didn't, I'd unlocked practically everything in the beta for every weapon & titan available.

This game could potentially be my main shooter that I play, I'll probably shift between Titanfall, BF4 & Arma II/III/DayZ/DayZ mod.

A wad of alleged details from Respawn’s upcoming Titanfall have made their way onto the web via a Reddit user citing a “reliable source” and posting several new screenshots. The tipster has put the map count at 15, as was the case in mid-February when a neoGAF user reportedly unearthed a host of Titanfall info by digging around in the belly of the beta, but also describes the use of turrets, ziplines, as well as a game mode called Pilot Hunter.

The leaker in question has also provided a screenshot of the screen displayed to players who have earned the chance to “regenerate” as part of Titanfall’s ‘Generations’ levelling system.

So, would you like to go to the next gen?

Turrets are described as fixed emplacements which have “a considerable range of motion and excellent target tracking systems.” Reportedly multiple Titans will usually be required to destroy these autonomous turrets but, in most cases, they can also be hacked to change sides and fight on the other team’s behalf.

Ziplines purportedly travel both ways, and players can apparently attach from either end or in mid-air if they’re close enough.

Eh. Close enough.

Pilot Hunter is allegedly a mode where only enemy pilots count towards the score limit and one point is awarded for each pilot killed. Killing the AI-controlled grunts and spectres in this mode will apparently not accumulate points towards your team’s final score in this mode, but will still speed up the build times of your replacement Titans.

Finally the tipster asserts that there are nine campaign matches in Titanfall, and you can play from both the IMC and Militia sides. Each match will apparently consist of five Attrition and four Hardpoint games and each side also has its own, unique pre-match briefings and battle chatter.

Titanfall is due out for PC and Xbox One on March 11 in North America, March 13 in Europe and Australia, and March 14 in the UK and NZ. Titanfall on Xbox 360 lands on March 25 in North America and March 28 in PAL territories.

Ooooh, those zip lines seem like fun. Looks like the traversal system got even more interesting.

Really interested in seeing how that campaign mode plays out.

Pilot Hunter seems to be a mode that should appease those worrying that the lowly nubs will have numbers like theirs due to AI Grunts.

*shakes head*

TITANFALL LAUNCH TRAILER

Exactly one week before it's scheduled to hit store shelves, EA and Respawn Entertainment's massively anticipated FPS Titanfall has gotten its launch trailer. The two-minute spot features a few glimpses of story beats from the campaign

multiplayer mode, which strings together competitive matches with narrative cutscenes, along with a whole lot of slickly edited footage of actual robot-riding, jetpacking, bullet-slinging gameplay.
I’ve got to say, I’m not usually a sucker for overblown videogame trailers with pounding, Hans Zimmer-esque music, but this one actually gave me chills. I figure it’s because, unlike your basic Call of Duty or Battlefield trailer, none of the insane moments on display here are predetermined, scripted story beats. In Titanfall, all those crazy acrobatics and mid-air missile dodges are actual gameplay maneuvers that you’ll be able to pull off yourself. There’s something admirably old fashioned in that.
Titanfall is due out on Xbox One and PC on Tuesday, March 11. An Xbox 360 version will follow on March 25.

FEATURES

COMPOSING THE MUSIC OF TITANFALL

Titanfall composer Stephen Barton tells Jose how he approached the music in the game, and how it helps bring the futuristic battlefield to life.

$25 for the Season Pass. That's more than reasonable. Not this ridiculous $50 crap. DLC should never cost the same as the game.

Well it depends how long they're planning on supporting the game. Borderlands 2's dlc easily cost over 60 but it was over 2 years. The only one I know of that's 50 is Forza 5 but who knows how long theyll keep releasing cars
