Titans Titans General Discussion Thread - Part 1

That looks so good! What in the hell happened between that and the actual show?

Oh its for S3...well about time! The eyes always should've looked alien.

Looks quite good actually. I am sure the showrunner and writers will find really lame ways to make her not wear it a lot.

Red Hood and Starfire suits look dope, but I'm more interested in them telling a good story this season that isn't all over the place and packed with needless filler.

There are several individual elements that I've really enjoyed in the past two seasons, but they haven't been able to bring everything together in a satisfying way. The new season also needs to be a lot less boring overall. For every one solid episode, there are like three tedious episodes that are a slog to get through.

Overall I've really enjoyed most of the episodes personally. For me the problem is that two seasons in a row now, they've failed to stick the landing. The seasons can be great all the way through and then they completely botch the endings, whether it's completely re-doing the finale in S1 or a terrible deaths in S2.

Donna's death was the most random, rushed, unnecessary, and pointless thing I've ever seen in TV show/series. Can't wrap my head around why they felt the need to do that after everything else that happened in the finale.
Exactly! I struggle to come up with any worse examples.

Especially after that completely anticlimactic final fight with Deathstroke halfway through the episode. They managed to take him out so painlessly. And then kill Donna off by some falling debris that literally comes out of left field. If you're going to kill her off, why not let Slade kill her in the fight and at least partially redeem two of the biggest problems of the finale?

I'm so late to the party but I started binging this the other day and I am enjoying it. I've already finished season 1 and now I'm about to start the fifth episode of season 2 once I finish this little errand. While I enjoy the flashback episodes, I just hate how they come without warning and it deviates from the main plot at times.

But damn, Deathstroke is such a bastard so far! As soon as Aqualad and Wonder Girl get it together, BOOM. That was coldblooded.

This is a really poorly done show. Some of the costumes and actors are really good and are wasted by this show.

The budget is too low, the seasons are too long, the writing is too boring to sustain the 40 minute episode format, and the gratuitous profanity and violence border on parody.

I grew up reading the 80s New Teen Titans series, and though it’s nice to see nods to that run, this show is ultimately a hollow experience. It’s great to see some of my favorite characters rendered in live action, but it loses its appeal when you actually watch the show.

The costumes are great and a lot of the actors are really well cast. But we’re 2 seasons in and it hasn’t gotten any better. I am hoping for a drastic improvement for Season 3. Perhaps the switch to HBO Max will improve things?

I feel like it has no choice but to get better. One its actually against all odds developed a fanbase. I know a few people who like the series and want to see more.

Plus, this is one of the most promising concepts they have in terms of keeping them above Marvel with TV excluding The Flash and LoT. One of which us over and the other is about to be.

I think some superhero shows just develop a following because of who they are and not necessarily because it has good stories lol.
I am guilty of this with the CW shows. Some of, okay, most of the writing is terrible, but because they're those characters, I still watch the episodes.

With Titans, I just don't think they've quite found their feet yet. They've taken too long to build the team and produce them each with an origin story.

Some shows take a few seasons to get truly good. I'm willing to give Titans a little bit more time to shine.

I know we've said it a million times but Titans needs a new showrunner. You dont mess up this badly twice with 10 episodes each season.

Idk why Im putting myself through it but I decided to rewatch for the first time. It's kind of funny that they went for this very dark, gritty, realistic world and then these two outrageous people show up in 1x02.

Everyone else gets semi realistic makeovers but Hawk and Dove? Nah.

They really suck at deaths in this show. Donna was idiotic but so was Garths...if anyone on this show shouldve been bullet proof....its him. And this is also why Amazons should have their gauntlets on almost all the time, so they can block that kind of stuff!

I kind of forgot that they'd do a cliffhanger only to do a totally different episode the next week. Please stop doing this..its annoying and the writing isnt that strong for it.

The Donna/Deathstroke fight was great, loved the lasso being used so well as a weapon. Though I feel like she should've faired better given her Amazon training and enhanced abilities.

Deathstroke in general was done so beautifully...another stupid death.

So the rumors were true which is good, though I guess this barbara will have had an even tougher encounter with Joker? Not really a fan of them sidelining her life as Oracle but we'll see if im wrong.

Titans has never been shy about flashbacks, especially in regards to Dick's time as Robin, so hopefully we get some sort of flashback to her as a suited-up Batgirl.

Awesome. Hope this turns out well. I’ve been wanting to see Barbara for ages.

This story is like an hour old and there's already Starfire vs. Barbara ship wars on twitter

Interesting enough this will be Barbara's 3rd live action depiction. She's only been actively Batgirl during the OG Batman series. She was Oracle in BoP and is now Commissioner in Titans.

My main fear is like a lot of stuff they drag, they'll drag Dick and Starfire's relationship growth.

We're in S3 and they've barely spent time together apart from the one time they had sex.
