Does anyone know a couple of things...
1. How much is Maguire getting for SM3? I heard 34 mil, but I find that hard to believe.
2. Does anyone have any idea how much actual screentime Maquire will have in this move because I am willing to bet that...
3. When you look at his salary vs. screentime, I bet Maguire sets some kind of record with this movie.
His actual screentime is so reduced by the use of doubles in the suit, that I bet he doesnt have more than 20 minutes of screentime.
I'm not complaining or hating. Like I said, I'm just willing to bet he sets some sort of record here.

Saying he plays spider-man im sure he has more then 20 minutes. Sam Raimi always finds a way on keeping the focus on Parkers life.

sam said somewhere i think in a wizard issue he said that tobey did alot of stunts in this movie so it is defenitley more than 20 minutes.

$34 million?!

In the words of Mr. Maguire himself, "Somebody lied."

Tobey has had quite a bit of screentime for a masked superhero(maybe thats why spidey gets unmasked more then usual in the movies). Really watch the first 2. Spiderman has his big scenes but they dont make up 80% of the movie. I dont see how your gonna question how long of screentime he has in the film(again more villians means nothing, especially since raimis big on the PETER PARKER: Spiderman)

Said in either Premier or Wizard that it is rumoured es getting 10 million for the 3rd

he got 17 million for spider-man 2

tobey even said that he likes to do his own stunts so i think that in this film he will do more than the last. more jumping and falling and stuff.

Well Harrison Ford is old and hes getting 40+ million to do Indiana Jones 4, so 34 million isn't entirely out of the question. I'm going to say 25, simply becuz if he made 17 like someone said about the 2nd one, then 25 is a nice step up. Not like he needs the money anyway...

if tobey getting $10 million for the third movie is true then thats great. if it's not true then i'm guessing $20 million or $25 million.

I dont care what Raimi or anyone else says, TM is NOT doing very many stunts himself, if any at all. It's pretty clear from all the pictures of TM that he did not get into the shape for this movie like he did the previous two. I am very wiling to bet that unless you see Maguire with costume and no mask, that someone else is under the mask, even for non-stunt work. It's even pretty obvious in the scene where Maguire rips the black suit off that it is his face and someone else's body.
NOW DON'T GET ME WRONG, I AM NOT HATING, NOT AT ALL. I think it would be pretty cool for him to set some sort of record for salary for this movie, but I still say, at the most, that Maguire will have less than 30 minutes of screen time.

He's getting the same as he got for #2.

Let's not forget that he signed the contract way before......

Isn't he getting some sort of back-end deal that gives him a cut of the profit or dvd sales or something to that effect?

Edit: IMDB says 17 Mil for SMII.

Oh yeah, probably something like that too.

But does anyone know how much Raimi gets?

I just looked on IMDB reguarding Toby's pay. And it clearly states:

He will get $26 million for the two sequels to Spider-Man (2002).

Then when you scroll down further:

Salary
Spider-Man 2 (2004) $17,000,000
Seabiscuit (2003) $12,500,000
Spider-Man (2002) $4,000,000

RIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIGHT

Yeah, I agree. I really, really doubt he is only gettin' 9 mil for SMIII, unless that is a base, then the profit sharing stuff goes on top of that.

Wow, 12 mill for Seabiscuit? That movie was awful.

Actors get paid to perform the required elements for the scenes in their scripts as well as efforts to promote a film. For a film like this, the promotional aspect is no small effort. Ultimately how much screentime an actor gets is decided by the directors and editors.

Tobey is the franchise player here. He is the face and voice of the character and that, along with his acting talents, is where his value lies. I doubt that screentime minute counts or stuntwork was given much weight in the determining of his pay for these sequels. Why would they want an actor with a chronic back injury performing stunts when those scenes could look 100 times more graceful and impressive when performed by a trained stunt person? Besides, they knew Tobey's age when they hired him and certainly knew of his back condition from the onset of SM2. So I don't think they necessarily expected Tobey to look like a spring chicken (or looking as ripped as SM1) when he showed up onset for SM3. Sure he's not Mr. Sixpack abs this time around but in my opinion, Tobey's in reasonably good shape for this film. I can't imagine him not being prepared to perform what they were asking him to do in the script.

I think it is conceivable that 9 mil was reserved for the 3rd film in the contract renegotiation that was struck prior to Sm2. I remember reading something that some parts of the compensation were being reserved until Tobey fulfilled the entire contractual obligation. From a business standpoint, that makes sense. He negotiated for more and they wanted to make sure he was going to commit to doing #3 if they were going to pay it.

But then the following Forbes report (citing Tobey's income for 2004/2005 time frame at $32 Mil inclusive of DVD sales percentages) suggests he might be getting an equal sum for SM3.

However much it is, it's a ton. Geez, I really reeeaaaaalllllyyyyy picked the wrong profession.

that is nice to know though.

Thats potent bs. Do you know how I know? I launched a hate campaign about 2 years ago on these very boards, broadcasting my hate and lack of understanding as to how boring maguire managed to earn $5million for sm1 and then jump to earning $17million for sm2. So, to say T-Mags is earning $10million for sm3 is clearly a porr joke.

So what you're saying here is that launching a hate campaign increased your knowledge of Tobey Maguire's Spider-man earnings?

:whatever:

Wow. Your internet education program has done wonderous things for you it seems. Where else can one learn so efficiently to take such great pride in starting hate campaigns?

Bachelor of B.S. Indeed.

*shakes head*

how do you figure? i havent seen anything to verify (or deny) this.

No, but all the behind-the-scene and candid shot we saw of him never showed a ripped Maguire like the first movie.
And again, I bet that is NOT his body in the costume ripping scene.
